Semolina porridge in a slow cooker

The content of the article:

Semolina porridge has been familiar to us since our youth. It is part of the diet of babies and old people. Almost everyone is convinced that it contains nutrients and has healing properties. We will look at whether this is so in this article.

Semolina porridge is a carbohydrate product with the highest calorie content. It contains saturated fatty acids, starch, fiber, and saccharides. Like other wheat grains, it contains gluten. Semolina contains vitamins (a group of low molecular weight organic compounds of relatively simple structure and varied chemical nature) (B1, B2, B6, B9, PP, E) and minerals (zinc, iron, calcium, sodium, phosphorus and others). It is quickly absorbed and saturates the body with useful substances.

In addition to the necessary microelements and vitamins, 100 grams of semolina contains 13 grams of protein and 73 grams of carbohydrates.

Semolina porridge has a number of positive features, namely:

  • the highest potassium content – 186 g per 100 g, helps strengthen the cardiovascular system;
  • quick satisfaction of hunger and a long feeling of fullness, thanks to a large amount of carbohydrates;
  • the presence of B vitamins helps support the nervous system;
  • calcium and iron strengthen bones;
  • has a beneficial effect on the gastrointestinal tract;
  • zinc supports immunity;
  • phosphorus saturates the body with energy.

Semolina porridge cooked in a slow cooker does not irritate the mucous membranes, which is why it is included in the diet of people with problems with the digestive system. It helps remove excess fats, salts, mucus from the body and gently cleanses the intestinal tract. Semolina is quickly prepared, so all the vitamins (a group of low-molecular organic compounds of relatively simple structure and varied chemical nature) are preserved.

There are many useful parameters in semolina, but there are also harmful ones. For example, people who are prone to obesity should not eat this porridge; it makes them gain weight quickly. It is also not recommended to give to children under 1 year of age. People with a gluten allergy should also exclude it from their diet. It does not have to be part of your daily diet; it can be consumed 2-3 times a week.

Traditional semolina porridge

It is a pleasure to prepare such a dish, because it will require a minimum of goods, time and effort of the cook. To make a tasty porridge, we will need:

  • semolina - half a glass;
  • milk - 3 glasses;
  • mineral water - 1 glass;
  • butter - 1 tablespoon;
  • salt and sugar to taste.
  1. First, pour the cereal into the multicooker container, add salt and sugar, and then stir thoroughly.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix milk with water and pour this liquid over the semolina.
  3. Select the “Milk porridge” mode, cooking time is 30 minutes. An important point: open the multicooker lid every 5-10 minutes and stir the semolina, this will help prepare the dish without lumps.
  4. When the finishing signal sounds, add butter to the bowl and stir well again!

By the way, if you take water instead of milk and do not add butter at the end, you will get a very tasty lean semolina porridge.

Fundamental subtleties of manufacturing

  • It is very important for any mother to learn how to prepare the kind of milk porridge that the kids would eat with pleasure. There are such recipes! You can add vanilla sugar to the porridge (this will give the dish an appetizing smell), as well as raisins, dried apricots or any other dried fruits. Some experienced chefs add candied fruits to semolina, which makes the food even more attractive and exciting for little gourmets. Almost everyone advises children to add crushed milk chocolate slices to cooked semolina for breakfast.
  • How much milk does it take to make a watery porridge? Impeccable proportions in this case: for half a glass of cereal - 5 glasses of milk.
  • How long to cook semolina porridge? On average, from 30 to 40 minutes, everything will depend on the power of the multicooker.
  • How to cook semolina porridge without lumps? To avoid such a nasty factor as lumps, you need to fill the semolina with liquid (milk or water) and let it sit for 10 minutes, then mix thoroughly and only then cook. The time you soak the cereal for will help it swell, which will prevent lumps from forming during cooking, but in any case, you should stir the porridge every 10 minutes.
  • The delayed mode quite often helps out multicooker owners if there is not enough time, but a tasty dish is simply needed in the morning. But preparing semolina porridge in this mode is not the best option, because semolina needs to be stirred systematically so that it comes out homogeneous, without lumps and tastes good. So it’s better to spend a little more time, but achieve the best result, because a high-quality breakfast is the key to a good day.

As you have already seen, making semolina porridge in a slow cooker is a very common task and not at all time-consuming. Moreover, this cereal can be prepared in such a way that it turns out to be a real delicacy. The main thing is to correctly follow all the above rules and use the proven step-by-step recipes that are collected below.

Semolina porridge in a slow cooker with milk

While doctors are debating the benefits or harms of semolina porridge, for almost all children and adults it is their favorite breakfast porridge. How to cook semolina porridge with milk using the usual method on the stove is no secret to anyone, let's talk about making it using a multicooker.

(do not use this manufacturing method for a pressure cooker or under pressure)

Honestly, I tried to cook semolina porridge in a slow cooker a couple of times and it didn’t work out. The result is a dense semolina pancake that is difficult to stir. It turns out that there is a little secret in making semolina porridge without lumps using this particular method. Semolina porridge in a multicooker (Panasonic, Polaris or Redmond without pressure) does not come out homogeneous if you cook it only with milk and if you cook it with the “Milk porridge” program. Apparently, this program is not for decoys.

Semolina porridge in milk with added water tastes no worse, and if your model has a delayed start in this mode, then the recipe is just a godsend for lovers of semolina porridge - malashka.

Ingredients:

  • Semolina – 0.5 multi cups,
  • Milk – 3 multi glasses,
  • Water – 1 multi glass,
  • Sugar - to taste (2-3 tablespoons),
  • Salt - to taste
  • Butter – 50 g.

Manufacturing process:

Pour semolina with sugar and salt into the multicooker bowl.

Pour milk and add water.
Use a piece of butter to create an oil rim along the walls of the multi-cooker saucepan; all that remains is to add to the semolina with milk in the bowl.

In the Panasonic multicooker, the time that can be set on the “quenching” program is 1 hour, so after 30 minutes it is necessary to turn it off forcibly. Another disadvantage of this model is that the timer (delayed start) can only be used for programs on the left side of the multicooker panel.

While stewing, you can open the lid a couple of times and stir the semolina porridge with a silicone spatula. Since this program works on the principle of a slow cooker, the semolina porridge did not show any signs of “escape” from the slow cooker.

Naturally, I completely forgot about “stir a couple of times,” but the photo shows that my semolina porridge is completely free of lumps. If you need the most watery semolina porridge, I recommend taking one tablespoon less of the cereal than in the recipe above, or increasing the amount of water by 1-2 multi-cups. Usually on weekdays I have milk porridge on a delayed start, and I have this semolina with milk as a weekend porridge. While everyone is waking up and washing, the multicooker will cook delicious semolina for you for breakfast.

Step-by-step recipe with photos

Very tender semolina porridge can be prepared in a slow cooker. I cook milk porridges in the “Porridge” mode, which has a default production temperature of 90 °C. That’s why I use only pasteurized milk and boiled water. If there is a need to boil milk, then in order to prevent it from foaming and spilling into the steam valve, you can run a rim of butter along the entire bowl above the milk by approximately 5 cm.

Prepare the necessary products.

Pour water and milk into the multicooker bowl. Make an oil rim as needed.

Set the multicooker to “Porridge” or “Milk porridge” mode and press “Start”. By default, production time is 1 hour. This is quite a lot for semolina porridge. If the multicooker has the ability to regulate the time, then you can reduce it to 30-40 minutes.

Mix semolina with sugar.

After about 10 minutes of operation of the multicooker, the milk will get quite warm and then you can pour semolina and sugar into the multicooker bowl. Mix everything. Close the lid and cook for approximately 20-30 minutes.

Place a piece of butter into the finished porridge and stir.

Delicious, warm milk semolina porridge is ready. You can add berries and fruits to it or serve with honey and jam.
