It’s not cheap to buy from the store, but usually there’s nothing to eat for that price. Although I am sure that almost everyone has encountered this. That’s why in this article I’m sharing the success of my joint work with my wife – a self-baked turtle cake.

According to our calculations, the cost of the cake is about 250 rubles. But the result turns out to be much more than what was purchased, and one can talk endlessly about the taste. Because it is so appetizing and juicy that the guests were in complete ecstasy. We have never heard so much praise before. And all the small guests ate only with extras, although this usually does not happen.

Personally, my girls always pick out only the top of their cakes, and not everyone’s, but I get the sponge cake. Immediately they barely licked the plates, although it was clear from the eyes that this was the idea in their heads!

This dessert is very simple to prepare, the main thing is to save a lot of impregnation so that it is very juicy. And naturally there is time for it to brew well. Now enough chatting and let's get down to business!

“Turtle” cake - traditional recipe with sour cream:

We made this tasty treat the day before the celebration. During this period of time, it is perfectly soaked and therefore simply melts in your mouth. We didn't decorate it, because that would require chocolate. And this is already very sweet and some may be allergic to it. Because this is everyone’s business and desire.

Ingredients:

  • Chicken egg – 6 pcs.;
  • Sugar – 3.5 cups;
  • Soda – 1 tsp;
  • Flour – 2 cups;
  • Sour cream – 1 l.

Manufacturing:

1. First prepare the dough. Break the eggs into a deep bowl. Beat them immediately with a mixer or whisk. We also add 1.5 cups of sugar and soda, slaked with water. Continue whisking until the sugar dissolves.

2. Sift the flour through a sieve directly into the egg mixture. We make a homogeneous mass, similar to thick sour cream.

Be sure to sift the flour. After all, in this way you not only get rid of lumps and debris that it may contain, but also saturate it with oxygen. This increases the stickiness, and the products are more fluffy.

3. Turn on the oven and set the temperature to 180 degrees. Let it warm up for now. Take a baking tray and line it with baking paper. If it is not there, then simply grease it with vegetable oil without aroma.

4. Using a teaspoon, pour out small cakes of dough. Try to keep more distance between them, because they will spill. So we fill out the entire form and send it to the oven. In this way it is necessary to use up all the dough. The first batch took me 5-6 minutes to bake because the oven was not very hot yet. The subsequent ones were prepared in 3 minutes. Place the finished ones in a dry, huge bowl.

5. Now let's prepare the impregnation. Mix sour cream and 2 cups of sugar in a cup. We also beat with a mixer or whisk until the sweet crystals are completely dissolved.

6. We throw our pancakes in batches into the cream so that they roll in it one hundred percent. Then we take it out and put it on some dish. We lay it out in any form, you can even form it into the shape of a turtle and decorate it later.

The most common recipe for a Turtle cake at home:

This method is similar to the previous one, only I decided to add cocoa to it. After all, for contrast, you can always cook two. Only, of course, the proportions need to be doubled. Or maybe you will like this particular option more. But it is just as tasty as the previous one.

Ingredients:

  • Flour – 2 cups;
  • Chicken egg – 6 pcs.;
  • Sugar – 4.5 cups;
  • Soda – 1 tsp;
  • Sour cream – 1 l.;
  • Cocoa – 2 tbsp. l.

Manufacturing:

1. Break chicken eggs into a huge cup. Add sugar (1.5 cups) and soda. Beat with a whisk or mixer.

2. Sift the flour through a sieve together with cocoa. You can create this in a separate container, but in order to use as little dishes as possible, we do it immediately into the mixture, but so that the lumps dissolve faster, pour it in evenly. Beat until smooth.

3. Cover the baking sheet with parchment paper or simply grease it with vegetable oil without aroma. Pour the dough onto it in the form of small flat cakes using a teaspoon. We make more free space between them. Because during baking they will increase in size.

4. Place in the oven, preheated to 180°, for 3 – 5 minutes.

You can check readiness with a toothpick. Having pierced the product in several places, it should remain dry without pieces of biscuit.

5. Now mix sour cream and 3 cups of sugar in a deep bowl. We dip our products into this mixture and place them in the mold, first one layer, followed by the next one on top. And we do this until they are completed.

Leave the cake to soak for 3 – 4 hours. But the longer it sits, the tastier it will be!

“Turtle” cake with condensed milk - a regular recipe with photos:

There are many delicious recipes, but they are all somewhat similar to each other. In this case, I suggest replacing the sugar in the cream with condensed milk. So maybe someone will like it a lot more. Or maybe you can also add boiled condensed milk? I literally haven’t tried this, but maybe someone understands whether it’s possible to create something like this?

Ingredients:

  • Chicken egg – 4 pcs.;
  • Flour – 1.5 cups;
  • Sugar – 1 glass;
  • Baking powder for dough – 1 sachet;
  • Condensed milk – 1 can;
  • Sour cream – 450 gr.

Manufacturing:

1. Break the eggs into a container. Add sugar there and beat with a whisk or mixer until it is completely dissolved.

2. Sift flour into the mixture together with baking powder. Continue stirring until smooth.

3. Place baking paper on a baking sheet or grease it with vegetable oil. Pour the dough onto it in portions using a teaspoon or tablespoon. The size of your cakes will depend on it.

4. Place in the oven for 4 – 5 minutes. Bake at 180 degrees.

5. Mix sour cream with condensed milk. You can dip our products in it and place them on a dish in the shape of a turtle shell, or pour cream over any layer. But I think the cake will be drier. You can sprinkle cocoa powder or grated chocolate on top.

Be sure to leave it to steep for a couple of hours. Then we serve it to the table.
