Rice with shrimp is a wonderful traditional combination that is also tasty and nutritious. These dishes can be served for lunch and dinner. They are prepared according to different recipes and which one you prefer depends only on you.

Rice and shrimp are prepared in different variations, and you can add to them not only various seasonings, but also vegetables, meat, nuts, fruits and sauces. In this article for us, we will present several more exciting and easy recipes that you can prepare in just 20 minutes in your kitchen.

Traditional option

The Thais were the first to cook rice with shrimp in this country; this is a common dish and can even be called the hallmark of Thai cuisine. The rice used is specially sticky, with a huge content of starch. It is cooked only by steaming. The uniqueness of this dish is that you can add a variety of vegetables and fish to it at your discretion.

In Europe, additional ingredients may include cheese, chicken, mushrooms, eggs, corn, etc.

Quite often this dish of Thai cuisine is confused with the Italian dish of risotto, because the main ingredients are actually the same. But there are differences in production and mixture. The Thai version is rice porridge with various additives, and the Italian version is a pasta-like soup. As we have already said, this dish is prepared simply, you just need to adhere to the technology and prepare the products required by the recipe in advance.

  • 250 grams of rice;
  • 300 g shrimp;
  • three tablespoons butter;
  • one onion;
  • head of garlic;
  • ground pepper;
  • salt.
  1. First you need to cook the rice properly. First you need to wash it well and put it in a saucepan.
  2. Boil water.
  3. Fill with boiling water, as they say, waist-deep.
  4. Place the saucepan on the stove and cook over high heat, uncovered, adding salt and one tablespoon of oil.
  5. When the rice begins to boil, cover the pan with a lid. Reduce the heat and cook for 20 minutes. Fundamentally! The rice is not stirred during cooking!
  6. Then, after this time, remove it from the stove and let it stand for about 7 minutes, and then you need to put it on a huge plate to cool.
  7. Peel the onion, cut into strips and fry with oil until it becomes translucent.
  8. Place in a separate bowl.
  9. The shrimp must be thawed, peeled and fried in the remaining oil in a frying pan for about 5 minutes.
  10. Now you need to add the rice, which has already cooled by this time, and then the onion.
  11. Mix well and fry, stirring constantly. To prevent the dish from being dry, you can add a little olive oil.
  12. Finely chop the garlic and add it to our dish and mix everything well!

In this recipe you can use all your favorite vegetables or those that you just happen to have on hand, but we recommend bell peppers, tomatoes, carrots and eggplants.

  • about three hundred grams of rice;
  • shrimp 250 gr;
  • set “FROZEN VEGETABLES” 400 gr;
  • 30 liters of green onions;
  • four tablespoons of oil;
  • salt,
  • seasonings

  1. First you need to wash the rice properly and put it in hot water.
  2. Next you need to add salt, bring to a boil and cover the saucepan with a lid.
  3. Cook over low heat until the water evaporates.
  4. We wait about 15 minutes and throw it into a colander.
  5. Rinse well under running cold water. Rice should not be sticky.
  6. Now you need to pour sunflower oil into a saucepan and heat it up.
  7. Place the “vegetable mix” in a frying pan and fry (stirring often) until it becomes soft.
  8. Finely chop the green onion and put it in a saucepan, then rice, salt and add seasonings.
  9. Thaw the shrimp and add them to the rest of the ingredients. Mix well.
  10. Cook with the lid on for another 6 minutes.

Serve as a separate dish with soy sauce.

With mushrooms and cheese

This dish not only has an extraordinary taste, but is also quite nutritious. Any mushrooms are suitable, including champignons and the most common ones that grow in the forest.

  • gr three hundred mushrooms;
  • two hundred grams of shrimp;
  • four hundred grams of rice;
  • vegetable oil approximately 30 ml;
  • three tablespoons of soy sauce;
  • cheese approximately 150 g;
  • spices;
  • salt.

  1. We process mushrooms depending on their type. If these are forest ones, then do not forget to wash and clean them well. Next, put them in a saucepan with boiling water. Cook for about one hour and discard in a colander (to drain excess water). If the mushrooms are huge, then they need to be cut into pieces.
  2. Salt the water and put the previously washed rice into it to cook.
  3. Cook until done and set aside to cool.
  4. Fry the mushrooms in sunflower oil, and then add the rice directly into the frying pan and stir after adding seasonings.
  5. Place the defrosted shrimp in a frying pan with the rice.
  6. After 5 minutes, add soy sauce.
  7. Mix as needed.
  8. Grate the cheese and add it to the frying pan with the rest of the ingredients.
  9. Cook the dish until it reaches a uniform consistency.
  10. Remove from the stove and let the dish steep for 6 minutes.
  11. Serve hot.

Finely chop the chicken fillet, chop the onion into rings, chop the pepper into circles, randomly chop the mushrooms if they are large, chop the celery, garlic, basil and almonds. In a deep frying pan, melt the butter over high heat, add the chicken, cook covered over high heat for 6-8 minutes, stirring, add all other products, excluding cheese, rice and shrimp, stir, fry for 5 minutes over high heat, stirring. 18-24 large shrimp, 8-10 celery leaves, 6-8 olives, 3 cups rice, 2 cloves garlic, 1 onion, ½ each reddish and greenish bell pepper, 3 tbsp. olive oil, 2 tbsp. tomato paste, 1 tbsp. ground paprika, ½ tsp. salt, olive oil.

  1. For about fifteen minutes, pour water over the mushrooms in one bowl and the tomatoes in another. After the time has passed, remove and chop finely. After soaking the goods, throw the water in a bowl; it will still be needed as broth.
  2. Wash the rice well, and finely chop the onion and garlic.
  3. Place the onion and garlic in a frying pan heated with olive oil and fry until golden brown. Then add the remaining liquid, mushrooms, tomatoes, rice, salt, pepper and bring to a boil. Place in a mold and bake for half an hour in an oven preheated to 180C.
  4. The whole dish is ready, put it on a plate and sprinkle cheese on top.

With Chiken

You don't have to be in Thailand to experience a dish like Thai rice with chicken and shrimp. It can also be prepared at home. If you want plenty on the menu, here is the recipe, cook it!

  1. 300 grams of rice (boiled);

  3. 150 g shrimp;

  7. 4 cloves of garlic;
  8. 50 grams of soy sauce;
  9. 3-5 grams of pickled ginger;
  10. a bunch of green onions.

  1. Cut into small pieces: chicken fillet, pepper and onion.
  2. Boil the rice in salted water, then let it cool and dump it on a plate.
  3. Thaw and peel the shrimp.
  4. In a frying pan heated with sunflower oil, fry chopped garlic, pepper, onion and chicken pieces until tender. Add ginger and shrimp, mix everything and fry for another 25 seconds. I advise you to use a wok pan with a deep bottom, it will be more convenient to stir all the ingredients. Also add rice and pour soy sauce over everything. Simmer for 5 minutes over low heat.
