Recipe: Mackerel stuffed with potatoes, onions and carrots - in the oven
Hello my friends!
I was visiting during the holidays and tried stuffed mackerel. And I was quite surprised at how delicious it was. The taste is amazing! The fish just melts in your mouth. And now I’ve prepared it myself. And I want to share it with you. The dish is very tasty and satisfying. And it looks great. Can totally be a table decoration. I had previously seen recipes for stuffed mackerel, but I was deterred by the fact that it smells very good when cooked. And after production, the smell lingers for a long time and is not very pleasant. But when I cooked it with Italian herbs, there was virtually no aroma. Even the pleasant smell remained in the kitchen. To make my dish, I took two frozen mackerel fish, weighing 600 grams each. I washed the carcasses painstakingly and removed the entrails. I removed it from the abdominal side. And I did not immediately remove the ridge, so as not to damage the flesh. And already in the process of consuming the dish, the ridge is simply removed with a fork. Well, I removed the heads to remove excess smell when baking fish
. Cut and washed mackerel, greased the inside of the belly with mayonnaise. And first, I put boiled potatoes, cut into strips.
Sprinkled a mixture of Italian herbs on top.
Next I put onion, cut into half rings, and sprinkled it with Rollton fish seasoning. Next, we will not salt the fish, because the seasoning contains a sufficient amount of salt.
After the onions, I placed the grated carrots. And smeared it with mayonnaise.
And the outermost layer is hard cheese, grated on a small grater. You can have any cheese. I had Lviv cheese.
Wrap the fish in foil and place it in a frying pan with a thick bottom. This way the fish won't burn. And I put it in the oven for 30 minutes, preheated to 180 degrees.
The baking time has expired. I remove the finished mackerel from the foil and place it on a plate.
The carcass is whole and completely baked. The fish tastes wonderful. It can be eaten hot, but it turned out that it tastes better when cooled. This is both an appetizer and a separate hearty dish. It can be prepared for a festive table or just for lunch for the whole family. A very valuable and convenient recipe. Try it friends!

Making Tips
For baking mackerel in the oven in foil, it is best to choose fish with a thick back, because it is the most meaty. If you are using frozen fish, before you start cooking, you need to defrost it at room temperature, without using a microwave. But it’s better to cut it when it’s still slightly frozen.
There is no need to use a lot of different spices for this fish; the main ones will suffice - salt, the consistency of peppers. It is necessary to coat with seasonings both on top and from the inside, so it will be most thoroughly saturated with them.
How long to bake mackerel? This almost entirely depends on the personal characteristics of each oven, but on average, 35-40 minutes is enough to bake fish deliciously.
In order for mackerel baked in the oven to come out golden brown with a crispy crust, you need to remove it from the oven 10 minutes before the end of cooking and uncover it from the foil.
