After the holidays, more than one kilogram of oranges have accumulated in the refrigerator, which no one can look at anymore. What should I create? Make some juice? The weather outside is so frosty that I wanted something warm and fragrant. This is how this compote with an apple-citrus taste came about.

Fresh apple compote

In winter, it is customary to cook compotes from dried fruits, frozen berries, and pieces of fruit. But when it’s summer time, it’s a sin not to take advantage of the moment and pamper your loved ones with the freshest cold compote from your own fruit harvest in the garden. If you don’t have your own garden, you can buy the same heavenly apples from summer residents or fruits of the current summer-autumn season in a hypermarket. Purchase and make a compote from them, fragrant, tasty, full of vitamins. Moreover, this can be created very quickly. The process of making apple compote is not at all tiring.

Ingredients for apple compote

The composition of compote made from fresh apples couldn’t be simpler. Useful:

• half a kilo of fresh apples of any variety;
• half a glass of sugar;
• 2 liters of water.

We thoroughly wash the apples, cut them into quarters, and remove the core and seeds. Place the peeled apples so that they do not quickly darken in water acidified with citric acid or lemon juice.

Pour water into a saucepan and bring it to a boil. Throw the apples into boiling water. Sugar goes there too. Bring to a boil and quickly turn off. Let the compote cool under the closed lid. Once the compote has cooled, move the saucepan to the refrigerator. Before serving the compote, it is better to strain it from the apples.

Apple-cranberry compote

Prepare for him:

• 3-4 apples;
• 250 grams of cranberries;
• half a glass of sugar;
• 3 liters of water.

We prepare the apples in the same way as in the previous recipe. And we prepare the compote in the same way, only at the moment of placing apples in boiling water, we also add cranberries. The color of such a compote will be reddish, very beautiful.

Other ingredients for homemade apple compote

Apple compote can be cooked according to the principle of its production in the first 2 recipes from the following ingredients:

• apples (half a kilo) + lingonberries (a glass) + sugar (half a glass) + 2 liters of water;
• apples (3-4 pieces) + strawberries (2 cups) + sugar (half a cup) + 2.5 liters of water;
• apples (paradise, small, half a kilo) + pitted cherries (glass) + sugar (glass) + 3 liters of water;
• apples (half a kilo) + dark or reddish currants (glass) + sugar (half a glass) + 2 liters of water;
• apples (half a kilo) + 1 lemon (cut into slices) + half a glass of sugar + 2 liters of water;
• apples (half a kilo) + pears (300 grams, cored) + half a glass of sugar + 2 liters of water.

Apple compote is drunk both warm and chilled. Can be added with ice.

Fresh berry compote recipe with photos step by step

On a clear summer day, instead of regular tea or coffee, you want to drink something healthy and immediately tasty. Prepare a fragrant and rich drink from fresh garden or wild berries at home or in the country. Treat yourself and your loved ones with a healthy drink for the whole family.

Recipe for fresh strawberry compote

  • 2.5 liters of water
  • 1 tbsp. strawberries
  • 0.5 tbsp. sugar or to taste

1. Sort the strawberries, remove all sepals and wash in running water.

2. Boil water in a saucepan.

3. Reduce heat under the pot of water to medium.

4. Place strawberries in boiling water.

5. Pour sugar into the compote.

6. Bring the compote to a boil and cook the compote at low simmer for 2-5 minutes.

7. Remove the compote from the heat and let it brew for 10-15 minutes.

8. Serve the compote hot, warm or cool.

Recipe for compote of fresh currants or raspberries

  • 2 liters of water
  • 1/3 tbsp. sugar or to taste
  • 2 tbsp. currant berries or 1.5 raspberries (you can take berries 1:1)

1. Sort the berries, remove all greenish parts and wash.

2. Boil water in a saucepan.

3. Pour sugar into boiling water and reduce heat.

4. Transfer the berries to low-boiling syrup.

5. Cook the compote for about 5 minutes, then remove from heat.

6. Serve the compote warm.

Cooking tips:

  • Strawberry compote can be strained before serving so that grains and pieces of berries do not interfere with children’s drinking;
  • raspberry compotes have the same qualities as jam from this berry. It will be useful for those who are sick or on a diet;
  • Dark currant compote is especially good in hot weather if consumed chilled;
  • gooseberry compotes will appeal to lovers of “fresh”;
  • Blueberry compotes are best “diluted” with another berry, for example, strawberries;
  • The compote is stored in the refrigerator for no more than 2 days.

Making berry compote

For this compote, I used a mixture of frozen and fresh berries. “Why connect them?” — you ask — “After all, you can only take the freshest ones!” It’s just that I’ve already managed to collect the berries and freeze them for the winter, so now I’m going into the freezer and taking them from there, I don’t know why I shouldn’t take them. My frozen berries include: raspberries, gooseberries, blackberries and cherries.

And I took reddish and black currants as the freshest ones. I wash all the berries and let the excess water drain.

I put my huge pot of cool water on the stove.

As soon as the water boils, add sugar (all 10 spoons) and stir until it dissolves.

Then I throw the washed berries into boiling water.

I'm waiting for it to boil again

and immediately turn off the stove so that all the vitamins (a group of low molecular weight organic compounds of relatively simple structure and varied chemical nature) remain. Cover with a lid and let it brew and cool. Well, that's all, our berry compote is ready!

Pour into glasses, add pieces of ice, squeeze in 5 drops of lemon, garnish with a straw and you’re ready to drink!
