Recipe for Chicken in Sweet and Sour Sauce:
Remove the skin from the chicken thighs and separate the meat from the bones. Alternatively, buy ready-made thigh fillets. You can also cook the breast, but the thigh comes out juicier. Cut the fillet into strips. Add rye wine (can be replaced with sherry), salt, pepper to taste, egg whites, starch, salt and pepper to taste. Mix everything and leave for 30 minutes.
While the chicken is marinating, let's create the sauce. Mix vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, tomato paste, water and a mixture of 5 spices.
In hot oil, fry the chicken in batches until golden brown.
Drain almost all the oil from the pan. Return the chicken to the pan and pour in the sauce. Simmer for 5-10 minutes, add sesame seeds and simmer for a few more minutes.
Serve hot. Can be garnished with rice.

In our regions, based on Asian cuisine, poultry is prepared from wings, thighs, drumsticks and other parts of a cut carcass; meaty turkey fillet is often used. There is a choice and it is similar to the authentic version. My detailed recipe stopped at the most common, affordable and easy-to-process product - chicken fillet or boneless breasts. Labor-intensive cutting with waving an ax and the not very neat appearance of crushed semi-finished meat products are immediately eliminated.
Having closed the question with the main ingredient, I turn my attention to the assortment of vegetables, fruits and roots. Choose fruits of different density, taste, smell and color - make not only an appetizing, but also a visually attractive, prominent dish. Usually, no matter what kind of meat gravy it looks, it doesn’t look very representative and you can’t do without catchy greenery or small culinary tricks. This time, the sweet and sour sauce for chicken insistently demands both richness, concentrated flavor, and versatility, multi-colored vegetables.
The subsequent set of components is important, mandatory, makes it specific and different. Soy sauce plus honey , actually indicated in the title, emphasize that it belongs to overseas cooking, and the combination of hot chili, spicy-fragrant garlic and sharp , piercing ginger is not specified or replaced. It is better to postpone cooking altogether if at least one of the basic five is missing. - soy sauce 50-70 ml
- honey 30 g
- sesame 1-2 tbsp. l.
- vegetable oil 30 ml
- corn starch 30-40 g
- chili 1/2 pod
- ginger root 30 g
- tomato paste 20 g
Manufacturing
We wash the chicken under cool water, dry it, cut off the films and fatty layers, then divide it into longitudinal plates of approximately the same thickness.
We put the meat tenderloin in a bowl, add corn starch, which differs from potato starch not only in its snow-whiteness, impeccable narrow texture, but also in the absence of aroma.
Immediately pour in traditional soy sauce and mix thoroughly. If you are in a hurry, do not marinate for a long time, but having time to spare, leave it to soak in the salty black liquid for an hour or two in the refrigerator.
After washing and cleaning, we proceed to cutting assorted vegetables. Paying tribute to the season, we use only the freshest gifts of nature and now - this is a sweet pumpkin that replaces carrots, two types of onions: onions and lettuce types of purple, thick-walled bell peppers of a reddish color, young zucchini with still tender skin and fragrant apples, which we often replace in This mix contains canned pineapple. We chop the onions into large slices, the pumpkin pulp into bars, the zucchini and pepper into long strips, and cut the peeled apples into cubes.
We chop the chili sector finely or a little larger, peeled ginger root and garlic cloves - we vary the amount of aromatic consistency according to taste.
We stock up on 2 frying pans. Naturally, the standard is to fry in a convex wok. And ordinary, even surfaces are suitable for rapid heat treatment of food adapted for European utensils.
Pour vegetable oil with a neutral odor into hot frying pans approximately halfway. Place the chicken darkened by soy sauce into one, stir from time to time and fry for 10-12 minutes. If you doubt the quality of frying, install the lid and steam it additionally.
Without missing a beat, next to it in another container with a small amount of oil we warm up various sizes of vegetables and fruits. Maintain the highest temperature, stir a couple of times with a spatula or toss slightly, holding the pan by the handle and changing layers. Let the solyanka soak in the oil, but retain its crunch, juiciness, and al dente elasticity. Lovers of stewed and soft vegetables can continue frying, covered, over low heat - the mixture will release juice and, together with the steam, will soften.
We transfer the already fried pieces of chicken in a glossy casing to the vegetable mix, throw in a handful of chopped ginger, garlic and reddish hot chili pepper, stir.
Add tomato extract and natural honey, stir again - act carefully, without tearing the bars. We try and increase the dose of spicy, salty or sweet ingredients as needed.
The final touch for chicken in sweet and sour sauce is snow-white sesame seeds. To reveal the smell, before sprinkling, dry the sesame seeds for several minutes in the oven or over high heat. Scatter directly over the frying pan or into portioned plates.
When arranging an Asian-style dinner, we serve homemade chicken in sweet and sour sauce, accompanied by boiled rice, and for those who love a strong spiciness, along with wasabi. Bon appetit!

- Wash the fillet, dry it, remove any possible fatty layers, remove the film. We cut the chicken meat into narrow, not very long strips, running a knife along the fibers.
- Remove the stalk with seeds, and then cut the bell pepper into small, narrow strips. To make the dish look brighter, you can mix peppers of different colors.
- Prepare sweet and sour dressing. In a separate bowl, mix vinegar, water, soy sauce, sugar and starch. Stir thoroughly.
- After pouring in vegetable oil, heat a saucepan or a frying pan with a high side. To make the chicken very juicy, fry the fillet strips over high heat in batches (in 2-3 batches), constantly stirring the chicken meat with a spatula. When the pieces turn white on all sides, transfer them to a separate bowl and fry the next portion.
- After chicken, add pepper and finely chopped garlic to the pan. Fry with vigorous stirring for 1.5-2 minutes. The pepper should turn golden, but at the same time remain quite elastic.
- Place the entire portion of semi-finished chicken fillet onto the vegetable tenderloin. Pour in the sauce and, lowering the heat, cook the mixture for about 10-15 minutes (until the sauce thickens and the chicken is completely cooked). At the end we take a sample and add salt if necessary.

Sweet and sour chicken legs cooked in the oven will not leave anyone indifferent. Almost all my friends, after trying them, asked for an additive and the secret of their production. So I’m sharing it with you too.
Here's what we'll need:
- Chicken legs – 1 kg
- Onion - 1 pc.
- Soy sauce - 3 tbsp.
- Ketchup - 3 tbsp.
- Vinegar - 2 tbsp.
- Honey - 2 tbsp.
- Ginger - 1 tsp.
- Dry garlic - 1 tbsp.
- Dark pepper - to taste reddish pepper - optional
- Vegetable oil - 3 tbsp.
- Water – 70 ml
- Sesame
It is better to take untainted honey, and dry garlic can be replaced with the freshest.
We wash the chicken legs and make small cuts in the meat. This is necessary so that it is perfectly saturated with the sauce. Leave it aside for now and move on to the next step.
Next, prepare the sweet and sour sauce. Pour soy sauce into a deep bowl and add ketchup to it. We send vinegar and honey to them. Followed by dry ginger, garlic and dark pepper. Fill the entire mixture with vegetable oil and water. Mix and move on.
Place the chicken legs in a bowl and pour the sweet and sour sauce over them. Mix and try to drown them in the water as best as possible. Cover with cling film and place in the refrigerator to marinate for 2 hours.
In a baking sheet we make a pillow of onion, cut into rings. We put the marinated legs on it and fill everything with the marinade in which they lay. Cover with foil and put in the oven for 40 minutes, the temperature should be 180 degrees.
About 2 minutes before they are ready, take the legs out of the oven, sprinkle with sesame seeds in the desired amount and put them back to bake.

Chicken in sweet and sour sauce with pineapples and bell peppers
Tender chicken fillet, with pieces of fragrant pineapple marinated in sweet and sour sauce, is what you need to feed the whole family something unusual and satisfying. It doesn’t matter what part of the chicken is suitable for the recipe, but if I cook, I almost always take the breast, because it becomes very tender with this sauce.
Ingredients:
- Chicken 700 gr.
- Onion 1 pc. (average)
- Bell pepper 1 pc. (big)
- Pineapples 1 can (450 gr.)
- Tomato paste 2 tbsp.
- Vinegar 6% to taste,
- Salt pepper,
- Sugar is also to taste.
- Soy sauce approximately 100-150 ml
Step-by-step production.
Step 1. Take the chicken fillet, wash it and cut it into random pieces. Place in a bowl and pour in soy sauce. Set aside for 30 minutes, empty, while it marinates.
During this period of time we will prepare the vegetables. Cut the onion into half rings and the sweet pepper into pods. Fry them in a frying pan with the addition of homemade tomato paste; if you don’t have it, then store-bought paste will work too.
After frying the vegetables a little, now cut the pineapple into cubes and place it in the frying pan. Pour some water and juice from a pineapple can into it. Salt, pepper and add a little sugar.
Our fillet has been marinated and now we can fry it. But before that, fill it with starch and mix. We put the second frying pan on the fire, throw the meat into it and fry until almost done.
Mix the almost finished chicken with vegetables and simmer together for another 20 minutes or until cooked over low heat. Cover with a lid so that all the sauce does not evaporate. If you have a lot of it and want the dish to be thicker, then you don’t need to close it.
Ready-made chicken fillet with vegetables, cooked in sweet and sour sauce, served with rice. It can also be topped with a little soy sauce.
How to cook chicken wings in sweet and sour sauce in a frying pan
These wings can be prepared very quickly in a frying pan, and the recipe itself is actually similar to the previous ones, but here we will use ginger root and lemon. And before starting production, I would like to warn you that if you are cooking for a huge company, then it is better to create it in the oven. Well, for a small family you can use a frying pan.
We will need:
- 700 gr. chicken wings;
- 100 gr. tomato sauce or ketchup;
- 30 gr. honey;
- 20 gr. soy sauce;
- 10 g ginger;
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice;
- 2-3 cloves of garlic;
- salt and pepper;
Manufacturing stages.
- Wash and cut the wings into 3 parts. Only two of them will be used for frying. We don’t cook the edges; there’s no meat in them anyway. You can use them, for example, for chicken jellied meat.
- Place the pieces in a deep bowl, pepper and salt. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes and soak.
- Grate the ginger on a small grater.
- During this period of time we will prepare the sauce. Mix in a bowl: tomato paste, grated ginger, honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, squeezed garlic and a little pepper.
Now put the frying pan on the fire, heat the vegetable oil in it and throw in the chicken wings. Fry them until golden brown and pour them with sweet and sour sauce. Stir and cover with a lid to let them simmer. Turn them over from time to time so that they are always in the sauce.
After 10 minutes, open the lid and fry for another 5 minutes. During this period of time, the sauce should evaporate a little and become thick, just be careful that it doesn’t burn. That's all, delicious wings in an unusual sauce are ready and they can be served at either a dinner or a formal table.
