  • onions – 2 pcs.
  • salt, ground pepper and seasonings for meat;
  • greenery;
  • watery smoke - ½ teaspoon (you can add 1 teaspoon if you like a pronounced flavor).

How to marinate meat for barbecue

  • cut the onion (not very thinly) and place it on the bottom of the pan;
  • Divide the lemon in half and squeeze one half onto the onion;
  • salt the onion (only a little salt is needed for onions);
  • rinse the meat well (then dry it with a cardboard towel to remove excess water);
  • cut the meat (the pieces should be medium in size and approximately uniform - this is necessary for uniform roasting of the meat);
  • coat any piece with watery smoke and carefully rub with seasonings;
  • add the meat to the onion, pour in the juice of the other half of a lemon and soy sauce and mix;
  • cover with a lid and leave in the refrigerator overnight (that is, in the dark) .

Making shish kebab in an air fryer

The meat is marinated, let's start making the kebab:

  • put the high rack in the air fryer and heat this miracle device for about 15 minutes at a temperature of 180 degrees;
  • after it warms up, you need to throw it without a lid so that it cools slightly;
  • at this time we string the pieces onto wood skewers (leaving a space of approximately two centimeters between the pieces);
  • place the kebabs in the air fryer (do not place them very close to each other so that the meat is better fried);
  • depending on the size of the pieces, set for 10-15 minutes and increase the temperature to 230-250 degrees;
  • later turn it over and leave for another 10-15 minutes.

Everything is ready - the kebab can be served. It must be perfectly placed on a dish directly with skewers and sprinkled with herbs. You can serve with baked vegetables or vegetable salad and certainly with meat sauce.

I was getting ready to make shashlik in an air fryer, and decided to look for recipes on our website and did not find
a single recipe for making kebab in the “Aerogrill” section.
So I decided to post this recipe.
In principle, the marinade recipe itself is not important, just as the method and principle of making kebab in an air fryer is important.
That’s why I’m writing all my observations and advice, because the result amused me a lot
and the kebab came out very tasty, very soft and really tasted like kebab fried over a fire.

pork (I always use the neck) 1500-1700 g
bulb onions 3-4 pcs
soy sauce 1 tbsp.
vinegar 9% 1 tbsp.
mayonnaise 2 tbsp.
salt 1 tbsp. incomplete
barbecue seasoning 3 tbsp.
pepper mixture 1 tsp
reddish hot pepper taste

The pork needs to be washed. Be sure to dry with a cardboard towel.

Cut into pieces approximately 4 x 5 cm in size.

Peel the onion and grate it on a small grater or chop it with a blender.

Add all other ingredients and add to meat.

Mix everything well and mash so that the marinade penetrates the meat better.

As a standard, it is better to leave it in a closed container overnight (that is, in the dark) in the refrigerator.

This will marinate the meat better.

When the meat is ready, take out the wood skewers.
Soak them in water for 10-15 minutes.

There is a small twist to making shish kebab in an air fryer.

This highlight is connected with the mechanism of operation of the air fryer and you should not forget about it: blowing hot air.

Therefore, we put pieces of marinated meat on skewers in such a way that

then try to place the huge pieces closer to the center, and the smallest ones to the edges of the test tube.

Another highlight of the air fryer: before using the air fryer, you need to warm it up for 10 minutes at a temperature of 200 degrees.

Then open the lid and let it cool slightly.

It is then that you can lay down the grid with skewers.

Set the temperature to 230 degrees and turn it on for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, open the lid and carefully turn our kebabs over.

And set it again for 10 minutes at the same temperature.

An air fryer or, in other words, a convection oven is a very successful household device. Food is cooked in it using vortex air currents. The food is heated moderately, you can completely exclude the introduction of oil or fat, it will not burn.

My husband is skeptical about making shish kebab without a grill. No matter how small the piece of meat is, it should only be fried over an open fire. But it was raining outside, and he had no choice but to trust the device. The air fryer was “unsurpassed” when it came to making pork shish kebab. In 15 minutes the meat was cooked, browned and remained juicy and tender.

As for the marinade. For a couple of years we have been using different marinades, but we never make them identically. The only thing is that the components are intertwined. Soy sauce, mustard, lemon, tomato - at least one of these ingredients must be present. At the moment we actually don’t use onions, if we just string them on skewers, as in this version. From time to time we can add spices and experiment by adding a drink or beer. Of course, the key to a delicious barbecue is fresh and good quality meat.

If you have a small piece of meat, it’s raining outside, and the convection oven is gathering dust on the table, cook pork kebab in the convection oven - you’ll love it!

Cut the meat into small pieces.

Cut the onion into four parts and disassemble.

Add onion, ripe tomato, soy sauce, mustard, pepper and a little salt to the meat (optional). I used homemade tomato sauce instead of tomatoes.

Mix thoroughly and put in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.

Soak wooden skewers in water in advance. String the meat alternately with onions; if you don’t like fried onions, you don’t have to string it. It is possible to do without skewers, just lay the meat on a grid.
