Cake pops “Potato” made from cookies without baking
For the recipe you will need:
- milk – 165 ml
- sugar – 100g
- butter – 80g
- cookies (for example anniversary) – 300g
- cocoa – 3 tbsp.
- nuts (chopped) – 50g
- snow-white chocolate (dark or milk) – 200g
- vegetable oil – 20 ml
- confectionery topping
- sticks – 25 pcs.
Making recipe:
To make Cake Pops “Potato” from cookies without baking you need.
Pour milk into a small saucepan, add sugar and place on low heat. Stirring, heat the milk until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat.
Cut the cooled butter into cubes, add to the milk, stir until the butter is completely dissolved and let cool. Mash the cookies into crumbs. Mix with cocoa powder and chopped nuts.
Pour sweet milk and butter over the cookie crumbs with nuts and stir until the mixture is homogeneous. Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to make the mass denser.
While the mixture hardens, melt the chocolate broken into pieces in a water bath. Add vegetable oil to the melted chocolate and mix well.
Remove the cookie mixture from the refrigerator, separate small pieces and form into small balls.
Dip the edge of a cake pop stick (or a wooden skewer) into chocolate, stick it into any ball and put it in the freezer for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, remove the balls from the freezer and dip any into melted chocolate. If the chocolate is very watery and drips from the ball, it means it needs to be cooled slightly. To do this, add slightly crushed chocolate to the melted chocolate and stir until it is completely dissolved. If the chocolate is very thick, then it needs to be slightly heated in a water bath or a little vegetable oil should be added.
Sprinkle cake pops in chocolate glaze with chopped nuts or confectionery toppings, place in a glass with the chopsticks down and put in the refrigerator until the chocolate has completely hardened.

Cake pops
Hello my young cooks! Yes, specifically young people. Because if you came across an article about cake pops, it means you have small children , and since you are trying so hard to amuse them, then the fire is still burning in your eyes, and there is little gunpowder lying around in your powder flasks.
Although I personally don’t have children, I have 3 nephews, all of whom have their own taste for sweets. It’s quite difficult to please everyone with one cake at a time.
And when a dozen more of the same personalities with formed stable views gather at their place, then you can’t count on absolute success among young people .
And only THIS dessert, no matter what it consists of, finds the wildest response from all representatives of our young generation.
What is the secret to the success of cake pops?
Naturally, these are prestigious, very popular, colorful and beautiful cake pops, without which not a single children’s party can be held. I have already inspected their action more than once: regardless of their own culinary preferences, the child will always choose a wonderful ball on a stick. And even if it is ugly (let’s say, an ordinary ball in chocolate), the “magic wand” will still do its job.
Kids flock to these treats like flies. We use them as a reward for eating lunch. Works 100%. Let me clarify that the age category of our “pets” is from 5 to 7 years.
And what can we say about the fact that in the “heart” of a cake pop you can put the most healthy filling, which your child would not even look at if it were in a different form. Use cottage cheese, nuts, dried fruits. Yes, the most ordinary apple, attached to a stick and dipped in chocolate, will literally go with a bang.
I've made these mini-cakes more than once and every time they blow up the internet at children's parties. No matter what filling I put in them and I don’t seem to decorate them.
Stick all sorts of fillings into a chocolate shell, place it on a stick, and the kids will eat whatever you give them! This is the most win-win method to feed your baby with all sorts of goodies .
For some reason, all children, without exception, fall for this magic wand. Use it.
What can you use to make the “dough” for cake pops?
Let's see what you can use to make children's cake pops at home.
Most of the recipes that I found on the Internet give us a sponge cake: vanilla or chocolate as a base for cake pops. But if you bake a sponge cake especially for cake pops, especially two different ones, you won’t have any time to spare, especially if you have little tramps jumping around (or barefoot little ones, it doesn’t matter). Here it is necessary to act quickly and in the right direction.
That’s why I always use ready-made cookies, white or chocolate, in my own recipes. For me, it’s not only easier/faster, it’s also tastier than sponge balls.
Here are a few of my tried and tested no-bake cookie recipes that everyone will love.
You can diversify the combinations and interchange types of cookies. The main thing is to understand the essence of making cake pops: the dry component is mixed with the wet in such a proportion that the acquired mass can be molded into even balls. With all this: a) the dough does not have to be dry, otherwise the balls will fall apart, and b) it does not have to be very soft for the balls to stick perfectly to the stick and keep their shape, and flavorings are a matter of your tastes and fantasies.
Cake pop recipes
1. Prestigious “Potato”
This is absolutely my favorite interpretation of cake pops. Our ancient one is a good “potato” in “prestigious packaging”.
For the “test” let’s take:
- milk - 165 ml
- sugar - 100 gr.
- butter - 80 gr.
- cookies (such as “Jubilee”) - 300 gr.
- cocoa - 3 tbsp.
- nuts, crushed - 50 gr. (optional)
For glazing:
- snow-white, dark or milk chocolate - 200 gr.
- vegetable oil (unflavored) - 20 ml ( better coconut , discount code POR7412)
For assembly:
- confectionery topping - for decoration (order in the online store )
- sticks for cake pops - 25 pcs. ( order )
Preparing the chocolate mass for the “potatoes”
- Pour milk into a saucepan, add sugar and put on fire. With constant stirring, wait until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat.
- Cut the butter into cubes and add it to the milk. Stir until the butter dissolves and leave to cool.
- In a blender or using a rolling pin and a bag, grind the cookies into crumbs. Mix with cocoa powder and chopped nuts.
- Pour the watery ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until smooth. Place the mixture in the refrigerator to harden for 30 minutes.
How to form cake pops correctly (with step-by-step photos)?
- While the mixture hardens, melt the chocolate chopped into pieces in a water bath. When the chocolate turns into a homogeneous glossy glaze without lumps, add vegetable oil and mix well until smooth.
- Separate equal pieces of 20 grams from the chocolate mass. any and form even balls, rolling them between your palms.

Attention here! To prevent chocolate from dripping from the finished cake pop, after frosting you need to quickly wave the cake pop left and right to shake off excess chocolate.
And 2nd! If you see that the chocolate is very watery and still flows from the ball, it means it needs to be cooled - throw some chopped chocolate into it and stir thoroughly until it is completely dissolved. If the chocolate is very thick and does not lie flat on the surface, then it needs to be heated. The second option is to add a little vegetable oil, but in order not to spoil the taste, it is better not to play with the oil.
2. Chocolate pops with cream cheese
This recipe is from a book by Swedish pastry chef of Lebanese origin Roy Fares.
You can use either cream cheese or mascarpone as a “binder”. And curd cheese like “Almette” is also perfect.
We will need:
- chocolate cookies - 250 gr.
- cream or curd cheese - 150 gr. (for example, Hochland )
For glazing:
- snow-white chocolate - 200 gr.
- vegetable oil (unflavored) - 20 ml
For assembly:
- confectionery topping, nuts, coconut flakes, grated cookies
- sticks for cake pops - 25 pcs.
From the indicated ingredients we will get 20-25 cake pops.
Preparing the chocolate mass:
- In a blender, grind the cookies into very small crumbs. Add cream cheese and puree again in a blender until smooth. Place the resulting mass in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
We form cake pops as in the first recipe ⇑
3. Snow-white cake pops
If you want the same hairs, just place the finished cake pops not in a glass, but on a plate with confectionery sprinkles.
These cake pops are made without cocoa. Therefore, such cakes will look more beautiful in dark glaze.
We will need:
- cookies (such as “Jubilee”) - 300 gr.
- condensed milk - 150-200 gr.
- crushed nuts - 50 gr. (optional)
- cognac, liqueur - 1 tbsp. (optional)
For glazing:
- dark or milk chocolate - 200 gr.
- vegetable oil (unflavored) - 20 ml
For assembly:
- confectionery topping, nuts - for decoration
- sticks for cake pops - 25 pcs.
For the "test":
- Grind the cookies in a blender and add 150 g. condensed milk Mix thoroughly. If the mass comes out crumbly (this depends on what kind of cookies you take), add a little more condensed milk and stir.
- Place the resulting mass in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, after which we form the cakepops using the method indicated in recipe No. 1 ⇑
In fact, the base of cake pops can be any kind of cupcake or sponge cake, and any thick jam, boiled condensed milk, Nutella, caramel, peanut butter, lemon curd, custard, etc. can be used as a gluing agent.
Now it’s your turn to share your thoughts and uncontrollable fantasies. And I will shake my tail.

Based on the 5 main ingredients of cake pops, you can endlessly experiment with the types, tastes and decorations of these cakes. In the meantime, we will show you a couple of traditional versions of these sweets.
Sponge cake recipe for cake pops
So, let's prepare homemade sponge cake for cake pops. Its recipe does not differ much from the recipe for an ordinary sponge cake, but it is important for us that the purchased “crust” can crumble into crumbs. That is why the proportions of goods should be strictly observed.
Sponge cake for light cake pops
- Testicles - 2 pcs.
- Flour - 125 gr.
- Sugar - 120 gr.
- Butter - 120 gr.
- Baking powder - 1 tsp.
If you like the smell of vanilla, add a packet of vanillin, vanilla extract or vanilla sugar.
Another fundamental note: before production, all of the listed products must be at room temperature, in other words, the eggs and butter should not be fresh from the refrigerator.
Knead the dough:
Beat eggs with sugar and vanilla until nice and fluffy. Add baking powder to the flour and slowly add it to the egg mixture, stirring constantly. Bake: line a baking dish with baking paper, pour the dough into it and place in an oven preheated to 180 degrees. The biscuit will cook for 20-30 minutes. Look at it from time to time and check its readiness with a match or a wooden skewer: after testing, it should be clean or covered in crumbs.
After the sponge cake is cooked, remove the pan from the oven and let the sponge cake cool. When it has cooled to room temperature, transfer it to a bag or wrap it in cling film and put it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
For light-colored cakes, a recipe for cake pops made from cookies is also suitable, in other words, without baking. In this case, instead of a biscuit, we will use cookies crushed in a blender.
Sponge cake for black cake pops
If we are preparing children's multi-colored cake pops, the recipe for sponge cake with cocoa will amuse not only children, but also adult lovers of “chocolate chocolate”. Due to the manufacturing technology, this sponge cake is slightly more difficult, but literally worthy of your attention.
- Testicles - 3 pcs.
- Flour - 110 gr.
- Sugar - 100 gr.
- Vegetable oil - 45 gr.
- Baking powder - 1 tsp.
- Instant cocoa - 40 gr.
- Soda - 1/4 tsp.
- Hot water - 90 gr.
And again, a fundamental note: before production, all of the listed products must be at room temperature (not counting hot water).
Knead the dough:
Divide the eggs into whites and yolks, then beat the whites. When the whites have turned into a fluffy foam, slowly add sugar and beat until stable peaks form at medium speed. If all the sugar has already been added, beat for another 1-2 minutes. In this recipe, perfectly whipped whites are the basis for a good result.
Mix cocoa powder with hot water. Add the yolks and butter to this drink and mix well.
Add baking powder and soda to the flour, carefully pour this mixture into the protein mass, add the mixture of yolks and cocoa - mix everything carefully, but intensively.
After the sponge cake is cooked, remove the pan from the oven and let it cool. When the biscuit has cooled to room temperature, transfer it to a bag or wrap it in cling film and put it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
Cake pop cream recipe
As already mentioned, the cream is needed as a binding element, which will transform the biscuit crumbs into something like edible plasticine, from which you can create balls or even more interesting shapes.
There are tips online for using jam, condensed milk, sour cream with sugar, etc. as cream. You can experiment, and we want to bring to your attention recipes for two proven creams that constantly give the mass elasticity and cake pops an indescribable taste.
You can combine any of these creams with any of the biscuits that we mentioned above.
Cheese cream
This cream perfectly forms the “mass for modeling” and at the same time makes the cake not cloyingly sweet, but so tender that you want to eat more of it.
- Curd cheese (traditional, without additives) - 110 gr.
- Butter - 50 gr.
- Sweet powder - 20 gr.
And again, a note: both cheese and butter should be at room temperature.
Preparation: beat butter and powder, add curd cheese, mix - ready!
Butter cream
- Condensed milk - 90 gr.
- Butter 82.5% - 55 gr.
- Vanillin (sachet).
Fundamentally: both condensed milk and butter should be at room temperature.
Production: beat the butter with condensed milk and vanilla until a fluffy, homogeneous mixture. Let's try - it's done!
Frosting recipe for cake pops
So, we already have a biscuit base and a connecting link - cream. In fact, everything is ready for the cake, but you've probably already seen that cake pops simply don't exist without frosting.
We want to offer you three options for solving the glaze issue:
- purchase ready-made glaze of various colors from the store;
- take dark and snow-white chocolate bars, melt them and pour “dark and snow-white glaze” over the cake pops;
- Prepare the glaze yourself using our recipe.
So, homemade frosting for cake pops, the recipe for which has been tested in practice.
- chocolate (the color of the glaze depends on the color of the chocolate) - 230 gr.
- butter - 10 gr.
Preparation: Melt the chocolate and butter in various bowls in a water bath. Mix both masses, cool to just below body temperature - the glaze is ready to use.
Please note: leftover glaze can be stored at room temperature for up to a month, but be sure to warm the mixture to operating temperature before applying.
Forming cake pops from sponge cake and cream
Everything is ready, now the most exciting part is the assembly process.
Prepare the “modeling mass”: grind the biscuit into crumbs using a blender and add binding cream. Mix everything thoroughly until a homogeneous mass is formed. Make balls the size of a ping pong ball.
We take skewers, dip them two centimeters into icing or melted chocolate and stick the stick into the ball. The warm icing will soon harden and act as glue between the ball and the skewer; to speed up this process, you can quickly put the cake pops in the refrigerator.
Then you need to pour glaze over any ball, holding the cake pop by the stem. Here's one of the life hacks on how easy it is to create this: take a square grater and use it as a stand for cake pops.
Now it's time for decoration. It’s all about your imagination, but the most common method is to use various confectionery toppings. If the sprinkles are quite large, you can place them on the icing dotted to create a suitable pattern. If the sprinkles are small, you can simply dip the ball in it or generously sprinkle the ball on top.
Add bows from thin ribbons to each leg - a simple, colorful, delicious decoration for any tea party is ready. All that remains is to wait for the delight of others.
