A good decoration for a feast on New Year's holidays will be the Snow Maiden salad with smoked chicken and melted cheese. It has a regular recipe, and the ingredients are completely accessible, and it turns out very tasty, tender, but at the same time satisfying. This is a layered salad, so it looks appetizing and very elegant - and this is exactly what is needed for a festive salad!
Ingredients for 1 serving:
- 100 grams of smoked chicken;
- 1 small potato, boiled in its jacket;
- 1 processed cheese;
- 1 hard-boiled egg;
- mayonnaise;
- greens for decoration.
How to prepare “Snow Maiden” salad with smoked chicken and melted cheese
For this salad, you can use not only smoked chicken fillet, but also meat from a smoked chicken leg or wing - it will be no less tasty. Cut the chicken meat into small cubes.
Peel the boiled potatoes in their jackets and grate them on a large grater.
We also grate processed cheese on a large grater. If it is very soft, then you should put it in the freezer for 10-15 minutes beforehand - after this it will be even easier to grate it.
Clean the hard-boiled egg and separate it into yolk and white. Grate the yolk on a medium grater, and the white on a large grater.
We will form the lettuce in layers; for this it is very convenient to use a molding ring. Place the ring on a plate, apply a small amount of mayonnaise on the plate inside the ring.
1st layer of salad – smoked chicken. Lubricate it with a small amount of mayonnaise.
2nd layer – potatoes. We also grease it with mayonnaise.
3rd layer – processed cheese. And after it, you also need mayonnaise, as you probably already guessed.
Now it’s the turn of the grated protein. And mayonnaise, of course.
Carefully remove the molding ring.
And sprinkle the salad on top with grated yolk. Let the salad stand for 10-15 minutes so that it is soaked.
Salad “Snow Maiden”
Recipe for New Year's salad “Snow Maiden” with ham and cheese
But I recommend serving this festive appetizer together with the “Santa Claus Hat” salad, because such a fabulous pair will completely decorate your New Year’s table. But both of these snacks would be appropriate separately. As you probably guessed, now I suggest looking at the recipe for the Snow Maiden salad. At the same time, to dye the classic blue fur coat, we will use a natural dye, which we will create from reddish cabbage. But let's take things in order.
Ingredients:
- 110 g ham
- 1 large potato
- 2 testicles
- 90 g hard cheese
- 3 tbsp. mayonnaise
- 1 leaf reddish cabbage
- water and lemon juice for marinade
- ground pepper
- large salt
How to prepare the Snow Maiden salad
First, we will create a dye for the egg white, from which in the end we will form the Snow Maiden’s fur coat. To do this, finely chop the washed red cabbage leaf.
Next, put it in a small bowl and pour a little water and lemon juice (1 tsp each) inside, then leave it in the refrigerator for about an hour.
At this time, boil the potatoes and eggs, and when they cool, remove the skin and shell. Then we cut the potatoes into small cubes, which we immediately place in a suitable bowl.
In the next step, we throw in thin pieces of special ham.
In addition, add careful cubes of hard cheese.
Mix the future salad and add coarse salt, a few tablespoons of homemade mayonnaise and ground pepper.
Making the Snow Maiden salad
Mix the ingredients again and place the Snow Maiden figure on a flat plate for serving.
Now we separate the boiled white from the yolk and grate it on the small side of a kitchen grater. Set the third part of the consistency aside, and add red cabbage juice to the remaining protein.
The liquid will be purple, but don’t be afraid, it will certainly color the eggs a soft blue color. So, we lay out from it the places on the workpiece where the fur coat is placed.
We fill the voids with undyed protein (the fur edging at the bottom, the mittens and the face).
At the last step, we decorate the “Snow Maiden” salad with thin lines of ketchup, forming the missing details. Also, don’t forget to make a luxurious braid from the remaining yolk, which all the Snow Maidens are so proud of. Well, of course, we remember about the eyes (they can be created from olives) and a charming grin. That's all, the festive appetizer is ready. Have a fabulous New Year and bon appetit to your whole family!
