And if, in addition to chicken, you introduce various additives in the form of mushrooms, herbs, vegetables and cabbage, you will never get bored. Stewed potatoes with chicken is our native, winter, warming dish that pleases the soul and stomach. Such food will bring pleasure not only to picky eaters, but also to gourmets who have tasted the taste. It seems like you haven’t tasted various pickles, but you still want something more ordinary. These recipes with photos are exactly one of those.

Chicken stew with potatoes, carrots and onions

  • chicken – 400g;
  • potatoes – 600g;
  • carrots – 1 piece;
  • onion – 1 piece;
  • vegetable oil – 1 tbsp;
  • salt – 1 tsp;
  • tomato sauce (or paste) – 1 tbsp;
  • ground dark pepper – 1/4 tsp.

How to cook potatoes and chicken stew

  1. We cut the carcass into pieces. You can use the whole chicken, but I usually leave parts like the back, wings, and sometimes the breast for later and put them in the freezer. So I use it to make something else. And potatoes usually contain chicken legs, both drumsticks and legs.
  2. Grate the carrots on a large grater or cut them into cubes. Onion - into small cubes.
  3. Fry the meat pieces in a frying pan with vegetable oil until browned.
  4. Add the chopped vegetables and continue cooking for 10 minutes over medium heat.
  5. Salt and pepper the stewed meat with vegetables, add tomato sauce, stir and keep on the stove for another 3 minutes.
  6. Peel the potatoes and cut into large pieces. We send it to the frying pan with the stewed foods. Mix the contents of the pan.
  7. Pour in hot water, having previously boiled it in a kettle.
  8. Reduce the heat to low, cover the dish with a lid and wait for the potatoes to be ready. Stir frequently so as not to burn.
  9. If you have fresh herbs, be sure to chop and sprinkle on top or place separately on each plate.

I associate such food with the comfort of home - dim lamplight, evening twilight outside the window, smells floating from the kitchen, the whole family gathered, crumbly stewed potatoes with greenish dill steaming on the table... Mmm-mm!

Stewed cabbage with potatoes and chicken: recipe with photos

  • chicken meat (drums, wings or legs) – 400 g;
  • potatoes – 400 g;
  • cabbage – 250 g;
  • carrot – 1 pc.;
  • onions – 1 pc.;
  • vegetable oil – 30-40 g;
  • tomato juice – 200 g;
  • salt and pepper - to taste.

How to cook stewed potatoes with cabbage and chicken

  1. First, fry the chicken meat. I used drumsticks, but you can use any part of the chicken. Fry in vegetable oil over high heat until a golden crust appears. Salt and pepper to give the chicken the desired flavor.
  2. Cut the peeled potatoes into medium-sized slices. In this form and size it will be cooked immediately with meat.
  3. Add potatoes to the pan with the chicken. Simmer everything together, stirring from time to time. Make the fire medium.
  4. We chop the remaining vegetables: cut the onion into half rings, grate the carrots, and simply chop the cabbage into narrow strips with a knife.
  5. We put the vegetables in the frying pan and start cooking everything together. Add salt to taste and stir.
  6. Pour in tomato juice, let the meat and vegetables boil and reduce the heat so that the dish simmers slightly. Cover with a lid and let sit until done. The meat and potatoes should become soft; we also check the cabbage for softness. Although some people love stewed cabbage to have a slight crunch.
  7. After 40 minutes of leisurely simmering, the dish is ready, and we remove the lid.

Transfer the potatoes, chicken and cabbage to plates and serve. This is a real dinner dish and note that no side dish or anything else is required.

  • chicken (thigh) – 700 g;
  • carrots – 1 pc.;
  • onion – 1 pc.;
  • champignons – 200 g;
  • salt – 1 tsp;
  • ground pepper - 1/2 tsp;
  • bay leaf – 1 pc.;
  • vegetable oil – 50 g.

How to create stewed potatoes with chicken and mushrooms

  1. This time, to make such a dish, I decided to use chicken legs specifically. As for me, this part of the carcass is the most juicy and warm than just fillet. So, wash the chicken legs, dry them and cut each into several pieces (it is not necessary to remove the bone).
  2. Pour vegetable oil into a large frying pan or cauldron. We warm up the container in which the dish will be prepared. Place pieces of chicken meat in it, fry on both sides for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Season with little spices.
  3. Meanwhile, peel and cut the carrots and onions into medium cubes.
  4. Add to fried chicken. Stirring constantly, continue cooking over medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Peel the potatoes and cut them into medium cubes.
  6. Add potatoes to chicken and vegetables. Add spices and bay leaf, mix and lightly fry for 5 minutes.
  7. Then add one glass of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and let simmer on low heat for 30-40 minutes.
  8. Wash the champignons, if they are young, like mine, then you don’t have to peel them, just cut any mushroom in half.
  9. When the potatoes and meat are almost ready, add the mushrooms to the pan. Stir and simmer for another 10 minutes.
  10. So simple and quick, you can prepare a delicious and satisfying dinner for the whole family!
  1. In addition to the carrots, onions and cabbage we used, you can take other seasonal vegetables: zucchini, eggplant, bell pepper.
  2. Instead of tomato juice or paste, add fresh tomatoes, from which it is better to remove the skin first.
  3. Fresh herbs and garlic work very well in the dish, which should be added to the pan after turning off the heat and left to brew for some time.
  4. Some people like it to have more gravy. Then, when stewing, pour the required amount of water into the frying pan; it will mix with other ingredients and form a tasty gravy.

Stewed potatoes with chicken in a pan are indescribably juicy and crumbly. Both big and small eat this dish with pleasure, even asking for more! It can be prepared both from young potatoes and from the latest ones, taking into account only the difference in the amount of time for production.

To make the dish even tastier, you can add vegetables to it: tomatoes, bell peppers, carrots and onions. If you wish, you can stew potatoes and chicken in a saucepan without them - your choice. If you cook potatoes like I do - with chicken fillet, then add a little vegetable oil to the broth so that the potatoes absorb it and do not taste dry. If you use poultry, then there is no need to add oil - it will release the right amount of fat.

Wash the chicken fillet or chicken parts, cut into medium cubes, cutting off the films and veins. Place in a saucepan and add bay leaf.

Peel the carrots and onions, wash, cut into large pieces - quarters or circles. Add to the pan.

Peel the potatoes and cut them into large cubes, adding the cutlets to the pan. Pour in hot water or broth, add salt. Place the container on the stove and bring its contents to a boil, and then simmer for about 10-15 minutes.

At this time, cut the washed tomatoes into large slices, peeled and washed bell peppers into medium pieces, and add to the container. Cover with a lid and simmer until the potatoes are done. At this step, add vegetable oil if you are preparing a chicken fillet dish. If you wish, you can add a little fresh herbs.

Ingredients:

  • Chicken – 1 kg
  • Potatoes – 0.7 kg
  • Onions – 2 pieces
  • Carrots – 1 piece

  • Sour cream – 2 tablespoons

Step 3. Send carrots (1 carrot)

We cut it literally the same way as for pilaf. You see, everything is simple. Almost 1 medium carrot per frying pan:

Mix carrots with meat and onions. Do everything carefully, without fuss. The dish senses your mood, and this affects the taste.

Step 4. Add bell pepper (optional)

I put in little pepper, almost half a greenish peppercorn. Cut it into cubes. And it serves as an additional ingredient here. It only needs a little scent. Therefore, you don’t need a lot of pepper. In my case, everything is perfect. It turned out delicious!

Mix. In time, almost 5 minutes.

Step 5. Add tomato paste (1 tablespoon)

Look what comes out! We haven't added any water to simmer yet. We got a rich zirvak, meat, seasonings, mushrooms. And its juice, from onions and tomato paste with sour cream, is simply – incredibly delicious. A spoonful of fresh bread, and very tasty...

Step 8. Add water (needed for stewing potatoes and chicken)

Add enough water to cover the meat. You will see in the next photo. In any case, you can add more if it doesn’t seem like much during the stewing process. I add boiled water so as not to disturb the temperature balance, from which carrots and onions can turn into porridge. Well, we don’t need to waste time waiting for the water to heat up in the frying pan. Just pour hot water, and you will be happy...
