Both of these options were prepared quite often in my family, because... eggs were not a precious product, you need even less minced meat than cutlets, but in the end the plate contains quite impressive “cutlets” with a filling and savory interior. Those who don’t like onions will like the “Scotch Egg” recipe, but those who like fried onions will probably choose zrazy! In any case, both options are very tasty! And don’t forget about these Easter recipes (if you happen to have a lot of Easter eggs in your refrigerator)!

How to cook chicken zrazy with egg and onion, step-by-step recipe with photos

I tried to indicate the number of goods as precisely as possible, but, in any case, everything, naturally, depends on both the size of the eggs and the desired thickness of the meat “coat”.

Fry the onion until golden brown. Onions fried in butter are even tastier. To prevent the butter from burning, add a little olive or vegetable oil to it.

Finely chop the boiled eggs and mix with onions. Salt and pepper. The inside is ready. I don’t add salt to the filling; I like its slightly sweet taste in the zrazy.

We wet our hands with cool water and form the minced meat into a flat cake. Place the filling in the middle (put it more or much less - decide according to your own taste).

Pinch the edges. If a “hole” has formed here and there, patch it with a small piece of minced meat. Don’t forget to lightly wet your hands with cool water - this will make working with minced chicken even easier.

Roll each one immediately in breadcrumbs. Then there are several manufacturing options: 1) fry the zrazy in a frying pan; 2) bake zrazy in the oven; 3) first lightly fry (until golden brown, almost a few minutes on each side), and then place in the oven and finish cooking in it. I cook using the third method.

I lightly fried the zrazy, and then put it on parchment or a silicone mat and put it in an oven preheated to 180C for 30-40 minutes. Chicken zrazy cooks a little faster (30 minutes is enough for them), and beef or pork take 40 minutes.

Following home tradition, I serve these zrazy only with mashed potatoes :). Very tasty! Bon appetit!

A dish with such an unusual and wonderful name was invented by the convenient “British” (let’s call them that) back in the 18th century. It has not lost its popularity to this day, because it is a good option for a hearty snack on a picnic or while traveling. In the traditional version, only minced meat is used, but it won’t be any worse if you make it from chicken or turkey.

Add your favorite spices, salt, pepper to the minced meat, mix everything well. I don't add bread. But to save money, you can also add bread soaked in milk (there will be more minced meat). Cooking eggs. As a standard, the yolk should be slightly watery inside, but I make it from hard-boiled eggs (they are easier to peel and then work with). Boil the eggs, cool in cool water, and peel. Next, roll the egg well in flour and place it in the center of the meat cake.

Wrap the egg in minced meat. You will get a round ball.

Roll any ball in breadcrumbs.

Shake 2 eggs in a deep container. Dip the ball coated in breadcrumbs into the egg.

Then roll in breadcrumbs again.

We get 6 balls breaded with breadcrumbs, eggs, and again breadcrumbs.

Further, the manufacturing methods are the same as for zrazy: 1) deep-fry, 2) bake in the oven; 3) lightly fry and then bake. I'm going down the third path again. I put the lightly fried eggs in a mold and put them in the oven at 180C for 20 minutes (the layer of minced meat is narrow, so there is no need to bake it for a particularly long time). But still, be guided by your oven, maybe a little less or a little more time will be useful for you.

I forgot to add - the question was if it could be baked rather than fried. Yes, for the last few years I have only been baking cutlets - I grease my hands with vegetable oil, mold them and put everything on a baking sheet. Later I put it in a preheated oven (200C/300F) and bake it. When the cutlets are already beautiful, I pour about 1/2 cup of water into the pan and put it back. After 8-10 minutes, the water actually evaporates, and the cutlets, if they are fried, are easily removed from the baking sheet. Experiment, don't be afraid! So the children are less, faster and even less fat, which is healthy! 🙂
