For reddish rowan jam with apples, the number of berries may vary, but it still tastes better when there are fewer rowan berries than apples.

The appropriate thickness of the jam is achieved by choosing the cooking time. If the mixture is quite liquid, when there is a lot of syrup in which the fruits float, then cook for 15-20 minutes. If you want thick jam, in which the fruits are almost like candied fruits, then cook for about 45 minutes, or in two steps for 20-25 minutes.

To make apple-rowanberry jam, prepare the ingredients according to the list for the recipe.

Sort out the rowan berries from debris and wash them.

To remove the bitterness from reddish rowan, its berries are either frozen or blanched.

Then place them in boiling water for 2-3 minutes and drain in a colander or strainer.

Apples for jam can be with or without skin, as you wish. Cut them into small cubes.

Combine a portion of water with sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil, reduce heat to low. Stir and wait until the sugar dissolves.

Add apples and rowan berries to sweet syrup and bring to a boil again.

Skim off the foam, reduce the heat to a low simmer and cook until desired thickness.

My jam was prepared in the following mode: 1st cooking - 20 minutes, cooling, 2nd cooking - 25 minutes.

The jam from reddish rowan with apples turned out thick and very rich. Sweet, with a pleasant special bitterness.

To store the jam, you need to put it in sterile jars and roll it up, but I don’t make it. It’s better for me to freeze both rowan berries and apples in pieces, and then make jam from them for dessert in small portions.

Rowan jam with apples

Rowan berry jam with apples is a delicious multivitamin delicacy for autumn, winter and spring.

Summer in the north flies by in a flash. We are waiting, waiting for it, starting at dawn, throughout the long frosty winter and cool spring, but it will come for a couple of weeks and that’s it... Especially this year. Summer is a whole month late. One sunny day alternated with a week of rain. It was not possible to warm up this summer. But a person lives in the hope that the next summer will certainly be warm. And it all starts all over again. Again we begin to hope and expect... Hope that maybe September will give us a warm “Indian summer” and will delight us with the beautiful autumn colors of the foliage of the trees, and the rowan with its fruits. I don’t understand about you, but rowan this year to stock up on for the winter. You can dry it and make the desired tea, or you can make jam. I really like rowan jam with apples. I take apples that are small, sweet and dense (so that they don’t fall apart during cooking).

How to make jam from rowan berries and apples:

Recipe:

For 1 kg of rowan with apples - 1.5 kg. sweet sand, 1 glass of water.

Take equal parts of rowan berries and apples.

Freeze the berries in the freezer. And then fill it with cool water and let it sit for a day. Change the water, and again for the day. Do this three times. Extra bitterness will come out.

Cut the apples into small cubes.

Pour water into sugar and cook syrup.

Add rowan berries with apples and let simmer over low heat for 5 minutes. Then leave until cool. The berries will absorb the syrup.

After it has cooled completely, put the bowl of jam on the fire and, after boiling, cook over moderate heat for 5-10 minutes. Leave again until cool. We do this approach three to four times.

When the jam is ready, you can see it by the rowan berries - they will become transparent, and the apples will look like marmalade.

Rowan berries should not be overcooked; they may lose their juiciness and be dry and tasteless, and the apples will fall apart and turn into puree.

Place the cooled jam into clean, dry jars.

Savory, special jam from rowan berries with apples has a completely inimitable taste, with a certain tart note. I hope you find it to your liking.

Apple and chokeberry jam in a slow cooker

Use chokeberries and tart apples in this recipe. We will also add lemon and vanilla for taste and smell. The taste is unique and it is unlikely that they will immediately tell you what this jam is made from. The unique look and taste will hide behind simple products.

    Ingredients:

    • Chokeberry - 1 kg.
    • Lemon – 1 pc.
    • Apple – 5 pcs.
    • Sugar – 1 kg.
    • Water – 1.5 tbsp.
    • Vanilla - to taste.

    Manufacturing process:

    1. First, let's prepare the syrup for the jam. Pour sugar into the multicooker bowl and fill it with bubbling water. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
    2. Add rowan berries to the syrup. Turn on the “Cooking” mode. After 5 minutes, turn off the multicooker. Now let the berries soak in the syrup. We leave them for 7 hours.
    3. After this, wash the apples, peel them, and remove the insides. Cut into small cubes. Place the pieces in a colander and pour boiling water over them for 6 minutes.
    4. We turn on our multicooker to the same mode. When the syrup with berries boils, add our apples and cook for about 30 minutes. The multicooker lid must be closed during all this.
    5. Scroll the lemon through a meat grinder and place it in the bowl 5 minutes before the end of production. At this time, add vanilla as well.
    6. Once hot, pour the jam into the prepared jars and seal it with lids. Bon appetit!

Fragrant jam from apples and chokeberries

Chokeberry is a tart berry in itself. To get rid of this, you need to add a sufficient amount of sugar and some spice to the jam. In this case it will be cinnamon. And depending on the variety of apples, the acidity of the jam will depend. Choose, experiment!

    Ingredients:

    • Chokeberry – 300 gr.
    • Cinnamon – 1 pinch.
    • Apples – 1 kg.
    • Sugar – 0.5 kg.
    • Water – 2 glasses.

    Manufacturing process:

    1. Prepare the syrup. Bring two glasses of water and sugar to a boil in a saucepan. Add cinnamon.
    2. Wash the apples well, core them and cut them into cubes. Place into boiling syrup. Boil for about 30 minutes until soft.
    3. After the apple pieces darken, add chokeberry. Before this, you need to sort it out, free it from twigs and leaves. Wash in a colander and dry with a cardboard towel.
    4. Cook everything together for another 20 minutes, stirring frequently.
    5. Remove from heat and pour jam into jars. Containers must be sterilized in advance and the lids must be doused with boiling water. We seal the jars hermetically and wrap them in a towel. After the workpiece has cooled, we move it for storage in a specially designated space. Bon appetit!

    • Lemon – 0.5 pcs.
    • Sugar – 600 gr.
    • Walnuts – 150 gr.

    Manufacturing process:

    1. We sort and wash the chokeberry berries. At night (that is, in the dark) pour boiling water over them. During the day, we prepare a fragrant syrup from the purchased tincture and sugar.
    2. Wash the apples and remove the core. Cut into small cubes.
    3. We remove the walnut kernels from the shell and chop them.
    4. Peel the lemon and chop finely.
    5. When the syrup boils, add the products listed above, not counting the lemon. Cook for 15 minutes three times. The break between these cookings is several hours. Just before finishing, add chopped lemon.
    6. When the jam is cooked, cover it with a towel and place an inverted pan on top. Thanks to this air cushion, the rowan will become soft in a couple of hours.
    7. During this period of time, we sterilize unstained jars and lids using a comfortable method.
    8. Pour the jam into jars and close for the winter. Store in a cool, dark place. Bon appetit!

Apple and chokeberry jam through a meat grinder

Here we suggest grinding the ingredients in a meat grinder. Feel free to prepare this jam for future use, because it can be added to tea, pies and pancakes. Or you can just eat a cool spoon or two in the winter.

    Ingredients:

    • Chokeberry – 1.5 kg.
    • Sugar – 2.3 kg.
    • Apples – 1.5 kg.

    Manufacturing process:

    1. We sort out the chokeberries, remove twigs, debris and spoiled berries. Rinse in a deep colander under running water.
    2. Wash the apples and peel them from the middle. Cut half the apples into small slices. If the skin is not thick, you don't have to remove it. We pass the second half of the apples together with half of the sugar through a meat grinder onto a large attachment.
    3. We do the same with rowan. We set aside one part and grind the second with the remaining sugar in a meat grinder.
    4. We combine two parts of apples and two parts of rowan in one container. Mix and put on fire.
    5. Boil the jam for 7 minutes and leave aside for 3-4 hours. After this we repeat this process. The jam is ready!
    6. Pour the delicacy into jars and seal for the winter. It is better to store this jam in the refrigerator. And do not forget that containers must be sterilized together with lids.
