Homemade stuffed potatoes

Potatoes are a favorite product of almost everyone, which is prepared in various ways: boiled and fried, baked and stewed, added to soups and pies, made into cutlets or pancakes.

But there is a dish in which potatoes are not only tasty, but also beautiful. These are stuffed potatoes, which can be a side dish, an appetizer or an independent dish. It will decorate a formal table and is suitable for a home dinner.

You can stuff raw, boiled or baked potatoes.

If there are no worries about the calorie content of the dish, then the cooked potatoes are fried until golden brown, stuffed with minced meat and baked.

Another recipe is to use boiled potatoes. It is boiled in its uniform until half cooked, cleaned, cut in half (lengthwise or crosswise), the core is removed, the resulting “boats” are filled with minced meat and baked.

You can also stuff raw potatoes. In this case, the filling is filled with raw tubers, the middle of which has been removed, and later brought to readiness in sauce or broth.

Stuffed potatoes are baked in the oven open or in foil, cooked in the microwave, in a slow cooker, on the grill - the result in all versions will be amazing. To prevent the dish from drying out, add bacon, cheese or a little butter to the filling.

For the inside they usually use:

    • Smoked, salted or fresh fish (salmon, trout, herring);
    • Mushrooms (salted, dried or fried);
    • Vegetables (cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, beets, cauliflower, etc.)
    • Beef liver, heart;
    • Buckwheat porridge (with onions, mushrooms);

You can experiment endlessly with recipes for entrails, trying out all the newest combinations of products. It all depends on taste and imagination.

Stuffed potatoes are served hot, with sauce or gravy, sprinkled with chopped herbs.

How to cook savory stuffed potatoes?

    • Young potatoes and varieties with yellowish flesh are ideal for this dish.
    • The dish will turn out most tender and juicy if baked in sauce. Any kind will do: bechamel, vegetable, tomato, creamy.
    • To obtain an appetizing golden crust, before baking, rub the potatoes with olive oil, garlic and herbs.
    • It is necessary to stuff the tubers tightly, because during the cooking process the minced meat miniaturizes in size.

Tender and fragrant potato boats with a juicy filling are loved by both children and adults. Even a novice cook can prepare this nourishing, original, elegant and at the same time easy-to-execute dish.

Stuffed potatoes baked in the oven - 8 recipes

As the heroine of the movie “Girls” said, hundreds of different dishes can be prepared from potatoes. You can cook stuffed potatoes in the oven both on a weekday and for a holiday, because the dish is not only tasty, but also very beautiful, it can completely decorate the table. Here are a few examples of recipes for this beautiful dish.

Manufacturing rules

The rarest feast is complete without potatoes. If you are tired of potatoes baked in whole or in halves, stuff the root vegetables with any kind of minced meat, and the success of the dish among your household and guests is guaranteed.

For stuffing, you need to choose fairly large tubers of similar size and shape. You can stuff both raw root vegetables and previously boiled ones. If you decide to cook raw potatoes, then you must definitely add something fatty to the filling - pieces of lard or butter, otherwise the dish will turn out a little dry.

It is much easier to stuff potatoes that have already been boiled or baked in advance, because when working with raw tubers it will be quite difficult to create recesses for placing the minced meat. To perform this work we use a special spiral knife. If the potatoes are ready, then you can create a hole with an ordinary teaspoon.

You can stuff potatoes with a variety of products. The most popular filling is meat (minced meat) and meat products (ham, sausage, frankfurters). Potatoes mix well with vegetables and mushrooms. Cheese is often added to the filling. You can use cheese to create a “hat”.

Noteworthy facts: not many people understand, but the closest “relatives” of potatoes are tomatoes, eggplants and even tobacco. All these plants belong to the Solanaceae genus. But if the fruits of tomatoes and eggplants are eaten, then the fruits of potatoes are not only inedible, but also poisonous. Only root vegetables are eaten.

Stuffed potatoes with meat, baked in the oven

In this version, we will stuff raw potatoes with minced meat. To create recesses in root vegetables, you need to use a special knife, but you can, of course, get by with an ordinary knife with a narrow blade.

  • 400 gr. ground beef;
  • 150 gr. smoked bacon;
  • 1 testicle;
  • 1 onion;
  • 200 ml cream;
