Agree that more than once you have wanted to try making rolls without the help of others. They wanted it, but why haven’t they prepared it until now? In fact, they are prepared very simply. Japanese cuisine has taken root in Russia so much that most housewives have served delicious homemade rolls on their tables more than once.

Now I will prepare a Russian version with Japanese colors - fried rolls with chicken. Some of the ingredients are of our origin, and some are borrowed from Japanese cuisine. To be honest, in the Land of the Rising Sun there is no concept of fried rolls. This, rather, is one of the options for making branded rolls.

Let's take the ingredients from the list.

Let's cook the rice for the rolls. Rice must be thoroughly washed in ice water until the water is clear. We will use a slow cooker for cooking. Fill the washed rice with water up to a fingertip high. Let's set the "rice" mode. In 15-20 minutes it will be ready. In a separate container, dilute sugar and salt in water with rice vinegar. Bring to a boil while stirring. Add rice vinegar to rice. Let's mix. The rice for the rolls is ready.

Cover the reed mat for forming rolls with cling film. Take a regular sheet of nori. We place it with the rough side up. With wet hands, place rice in the middle with a shift downward. First, we put the rice in a heap, and then we distribute it over the sheet from the center to the edges, as if smoothing it out. The upper part of the nori must remain untouched for gluing. Let's take about 130 g of rice for one roll.

Draw a thick strip of cheese in the center of the rice. Cut the chicken, bell pepper and cabbage into large strips. Place around the cheese.

We evenly wrap the roll using a mat, starting from the bottom. We press it on both sides in the form of an elongated bar.

Press open edges with wet hands. The output is a long roll. I got two.

The roll can be fried completely or divided into two parts. I find it more convenient to fry in small cubes. Dip the rolls in egg batter made from beaten eggs with flour and water.

Then into tempura batter. I put the tempura breading through a blender so that the flakes were a little smaller than stated by the manufacturer.

Fry in hot oil on 4 sides for a few seconds on each side. The rolls can be deep-fried, but then without turning them over.

Place the rolls on a napkin and then transfer them to a plate.

We cut any block into 4 parts. If you decide to fry the roll whole, then into 8 parts. This is how the right rolls are served. I ended up with 9 small rolls because I didn’t cut off the sides. At their most delicious, “crispy”.

Homemade fried chicken rolls are ready! Serve hot with soy sauce, ginger and, if desired, Unagi sauce.

Recipe for making a dish at home

  1. Wash the rice under cool water, place in a saucepan and add 450 ml of water. Put on fire and bring to a boil. After this, cover with a lid and cook over low heat for about 15 minutes until the water has completely evaporated.
  2. Pour salt, sugar into the rice, pour in rice vinegar and mix thoroughly. Place the fragrant rice on a flat plate and cool. Peel and pit the avocado and cut into thin strips. Cut the processed cheese into strips (or mix cottage cheese with heavy cream).
  3. Boil the shrimp for a minute until tender and cut into small pieces (cut the salmon into small pieces). Sift flour and breadcrumbs into two separate plates, and crack an egg into a third and put an ice cube.
