Pancakes on the water - 8 recipes like grandma’s
Ksyusha Garastyuk • 03/05/2019
Pancakes on the water are not bad only during Lent. They turn out to be more elastic and thin than ordinary ones.
The number of components in recipes is reduced to a minimum, which allows you to save your home budget. In addition, thin pancakes on water are the most beneficial for your figure. If you bake them without using them, you will get a light and low-calorie breakfast. They can be stuffed or simply greased with butter.
During production, follow the basic rule - mix the dry ingredients separately, separately the watery ones, and then combine them later. Then you will get tasty and elastic pancakes.
The mixture should make the dough look like thick sour cream. Let it sit for a little while before using it. Place the ingredients at room temperature, otherwise the dough will be less fluffy.

Pancakes on the water
So many different recipes for pancakes, pancakes, crepes, etc.! I often like to experiment. Every time I want to try something new, not hackneyed, but if I want to be sure that everything will work out, then I constantly return to this recipe, because this is exactly how my mother prepared pancakes. And in labor lessons we were also taught to bake pancakes according to this recipe. It is especially urgent when there is no milk in the house or it has turned sour.
I also like that they are made one or two at a time and come out of the pan perfectly.
The photo doesn’t show the whole stack, so it looked like my little son was carrying one at a time. Great, even though my spouse wasn’t at home at that time, otherwise, for sure, there would have been only one left, as happened in the evening
I’m sure that even a child can handle this recipe, because the first time I baked them myself, I was about 9 years old. I remember how happy I made my mother when she returned from work and there was a stack of pancakes on the table. She praised me, which made me over the moon with happiness!

How to cook pancakes with water
Ingredients:
- Water – 1 liter boiled
- Chicken egg – 4 pcs.
- Salt - to taste
- Wheat flour – 2.5 cups (250 ml) see for yourself, you may need more or less
- Vegetable oil – 4 tbsp.
- Sugar – 3 tbsp.
Manufacturing:
To make pancakes on the water, we need a completely simple set of products.
Firstly, we need one liter of water. It needs to be taken boiled and cooled. This can be created in advance.
Crack four chicken eggs into a small bowl and stir with a whisk, but don’t be overzealous. Add salt and sugar to the eggs and mix again.
Now pour one liter of water into a larger bowl, add the egg mixture into it and mix very well.
The flour for pancakes in water needs to be sifted and constantly stirring, add it in small portions to the bowl. Try not to create lumps, because it is very important to stir constantly.
Now about the flour. It took me 2.5 cups, but this does not mean that you will need this particular amount of flour. Almost everything here depends on the properties of your flour, the group of eggs, etc. The dough should be more liquid than what we usually make for pancakes. Thanks to this, the pancakes turn out thin.
Now the only thing left to do is to pour vegetable oil into the dough, also constantly stirring with a whisk.
Now let’s move on specifically to making pancakes. To do this, you need to heat the frying pan. I have a special pancake frying pan, it has a non-stick coating, so I don’t grease it with vegetable oil. And you look at the situation.
I love thin pancakes, so I try to pour as little batter into the pan as possible, a little less than half a ladle. Return the pan to the heat and wait for the pancake to brown.
Turn the pancake over. I do this with my hands, it’s a habit, but you can twist it with a spatula or a knife, fork, etc.
Once the pancake has browned on the other side, remove it from the pan, place it on a plate and move on to another. And we repeat this until the dough is complete.
That’s it, now we can experience what we got, unless, of course, the household members do it earlier, because they so love to grab hot pancakes from the plate.
Pour tea or coffee into mugs, cut fruit (in my case reddish oranges), any berries, chocolate, condensed milk or jam are also suitable, as you like.
