Manufacturing

Step 1

Carefully wash the chicken. If necessary, remove remaining feathers. It is best to choose a large and fatty chicken for baking, then it will be the juiciest and softest.

Step 2

Peel the garlic cloves and cut them lengthwise into several pieces.

Step 3

Rub the chicken with a small amount of salt. Sprinkle with pepper and other spices to your taste. We pierce the fleshy places with a knife and insert pieces of garlic. When the chicken is baked, its meat will acquire a light garlic color and become even tastier.

Step 4

Preparing sauce for chicken. To do this, mix honey, soy sauce, mustard and salt in a bowl. Add lemon juice or wine vinegar. Mix thoroughly.

Step 5

You can bake the chicken alone or with vegetables. If you are cooking chicken with vegetables, chop them and place them on the bottom of the pan. Vegetables also need to be salted, sprinkled with spices and poured with a small amount of vegetable oil. The baking dish must be greased in advance so that nothing sticks.

Step 6

Place the chicken in a baking dish and pour the sauce on all sides. Place in the oven and bake for at least an hour. If the top of the chicken begins to quickly burn (depending on the oven), you can turn it over several times during the cooking process. Then it will bake moderately, not burn, and turn out great.

Step 8

Place the finished chicken on a plate and serve. Bon appetit!

Katerina have a nice day! At what temperature do you bake? And in what mode “Traditional heating” or “Ventilation heating” if the oven is electronic?

Catherine

Hello, Pavel.
I can't say with 100% certainty. Unfortunately, for now I cook in an old gas oven and rely more on the smell and appearance. But I think that you can set the temperature to the highest in the traditional mode, and after 10 - 15 minutes, when the chicken begins to brown on top, switch to medium temperature (about 160 degrees). During the cooking process, I turned the chicken several times so that it was moderately cooked. And also, if you want a beautiful shiny crust to remain on top, you can throw in a little sauce and brush the top of the chicken again 5 - 10 minutes before turning off the oven.

Chicken in the oven with honey and mustard: recipes, marinade options with photos

Honey is usually used not only for making desserts, but also as a seasoning for meat and poultry dishes. The sweetness of honey mixes well with the tangy and spicy taste of mustard. Let's look at the best recipes for making chicken in the oven in a mustard-honey marinade.

Chicken Recipes with Honey and Mustard

Mustard is a popular seasoning in Russian, European and American cuisines. It is served with cool and hot meat dishes, it is used for dressing salads and making marinades.

Together with honey, it creates a unique, spicy-sweet combination of flavors. A similar marinade is used to prepare meat and poultry. Tender chicken meat marinated in honey mustard sauce becomes even softer and juicier. Under the influence of high temperatures, the honey filling caramelizes, creating an appetizing crispy crust.

Chicken in honey mustard sauce, fully baked

Chicken cooked completely in the oven will become a real decoration for any festive table. It is not difficult to prepare such a dish; it does not require additional preparation or special culinary capabilities. To prevent the bird from burning, soaking in the marinade and baking moderately, it is most convenient to bake it in a special oven tray.

  • chicken carcass - 1.5 kg;
  • watery honey - 1 tablespoon;
  • mustard - 2 tablespoons;
  • olive or sunflower oil - 1 tablespoon.

Manufacturing stages with photos:

  1. First you need to create a marinade. To do this, combine honey, mustard, butter in a bowl, add salt to taste and mix thoroughly until a homogeneous mixture is formed. You can add aromatic herbs and spices; dried basil and oregano go well with chicken. If desired, you can vary the amount of mustard - add more or less to make the dish spicier or milder in taste.
  2. The chicken is thoroughly washed inside and out. Blot with cardboard towels. The carcass is rubbed with a mustard-honey consistency on all sides, even inside. If there is little water left in the bowl, you can marinate the chicken in it for 30-40 minutes. The meat will marinate and become more tender and spicy.
  3. The bird is placed in a sleeve, tied and pierced with a toothpick or fork several holes through which steam will escape. Place the sleeve in an oven preheated to 200°C and bake for 60 minutes.
  4. After an hour, the sleeve is removed, cut at the top without removing the chicken, and the juice that has drained to the bottom of the baking sheet is poured over the bird. Place the carcass in the oven again for 15-20 minutes. During this period of time, the sauce forms a rosy, crispy crust on the surface of the bird.

Chicken in honey mustard sauce pieces

If you don’t want to cut up a whole bird carcass completely, you can bake it in pieces. Wings, drumsticks or thighs are suitable for this. The marinade is prepared literally the same as in the previous recipe. The advantage of baking poultry divided into portions is that it is much more convenient to pour mustard-honey sauce over it and leave it to marinate.

  1. Thighs, wings or drumsticks are placed in a deep bowl with the prepared marinade. Leave to marinate for half an hour so that the meat has time to soak in the mustard.
  2. Place the chicken on a greased or foil-covered baking sheet and place in an oven preheated to 180°C for 40-45 minutes, depending on the size of the pieces.
  3. During cooking, the oven must be opened and the bird should be basted with the remaining sauce or juice dripping onto the baking sheet. This is necessary so that a crispy crust forms on top.

Chicken with honey, mustard and soy sauce

You can add additional ingredients to the mustard-honey marinade to enhance the taste. Soy sauce mixes well with honey and mustard, which gives the dish a salty, spicy taste.

Soy sauce, having migrated from Asian cuisine to European cuisine, has gained popularity among Russian chefs. He has a special basic taste - “brains” - which helps emphasize the main taste of the dish.

How to cook Asian baked chicken? For this you will need:

  • chicken (thighs or drumsticks) - 1 kg;
  • soy sauce - 100 ml;
  • flower honey - 100 ml;
  • mustard - 2 tablespoons;
  • sunflower oil - 1 tablespoon;
  • garlic - 3-4 cloves;
  • salt and dry herbs to taste.
  1. A deep bowl will be useful for the marinade. Soy sauce, butter, honey are poured there, and mustard is added. Garlic cloves are crushed or finely chopped. All ingredients are mixed until a homogeneous mixture is formed.
  2. The bird is washed under running water and blotted with cardboard towels. Rub with spices to taste - it could be salt, dark pepper, dried basil or thyme. Soak in marinade for 60 minutes.
  3. The oven is heated to a temperature of 180°C. Place the chicken on a greased or foil-lined baking sheet and bake for 60 minutes. To form a golden brown crust that appears from the caramelized marinade, pour the chicken with the juice that flows to the bottom of the baking sheet.

Chicken in honey mustard marinade with oranges

Citrus fruits are often used to marinate meat. The fruit acids they contain soften the muscle fibers and make the bird tender and juicy. If you use an orange to make the sauce, the dish will acquire a sweet and sour taste.

  • chicken fillet - 500 g;
  • orange - 1 large or 2 medium;
  • mustard - 1 teaspoon;
  • honey - 1 teaspoon;
  • Teriyaki sauce - 2 tablespoons.
  1. Place teriyaki, honey and mustard in a deep bowl. The orange is washed, rolled out by hand on the table, cut into halves and the juice is squeezed into a bowl.
  2. The fillet is cut into medium-sized cubes and left to marinate. The meat must be marinated for 30 minutes.
  3. Place a baking sheet with fillet laid out on it in an oven preheated to 200°C. Top the chicken with the remaining marinade. Baking time - 25 minutes.

Useful tips

A few tricks from the chefs:

  • Not everyone loves spicy food. In this case, you can replace the spicy Russian mustard with French, Dijon or American - these sauces retain the traditional spicy taste, but there is practically no spiciness in them.
  • Honey should be natural. It is best to take watery varieties, for example linden or floral. If the honey has thickened, you need to warm it up slightly before adding it to the sauce.
  • In addition to traditional soy sauce, you can use teriyaki or oyster sauce. They are the thickest, so it is better to dilute the marinade with freshly squeezed orange juice.
  • What to create if there is no oven in the house? Chicken in honey-mustard marinade can also be baked in a slow cooker or convection oven. To do this, you need to marinate the bird for 15-20 minutes longer.
  • When roasting the carcass completely, you should place the chicken with its back up. This way the breast will turn out not dry, but the most juicy.
