“Hunter” cabbage salad for the winter: 4 recipes for making

Most housewives prepare vegetables for the winter in order to provide their families with vitamins during the cool season. In addition, canned vegetable snacks are tasty and save time when preparing dinner: just open the jar and put the salad in a suitable vase. One of the most favorite preparations for the winter is the “Hunter” salad made from cabbage and other seasonal vegetables. The well-provided composition of the snack, its gentle slightly sour taste, the crispy vegetables in it, smelling of freshness, have earned it a huge number of fans. We have selected 4 of our favorite salad recipes, including the traditional one.

Culinary secrets

In addition to cabbage, the Okhotnichy salad includes cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet peppers, onions and carrots. It’s not surprising that the appetizer looks bright and appetizing and has a rich taste. But in order for it to come out just like that and stand perfectly all winter, you need to know a few culinary secrets.

  • Vegetables are cut into a salad, so some housewives see in its preparation the opportunity to find a use for spoiled products: almost all the shortcomings will not be visible in the tenderloin. Naturally, the tomatoes can be cut into cubes, removing rotten areas. Naturally, overgrown cucumbers can also come into play. But you need to realize that from young cucumbers and high-quality new tomatoes, the snack will turn out not only the most beautiful, but also the most delicious.
  • To give the salad its usual appearance, the vegetables must be chopped correctly: cut the onion into thin half rings, finely chop the cabbage, cut the carrots into strips or circles, cucumbers into semi-circles. But it’s better to create larger pieces of pepper so that they can be clearly distinguished in the salad. Tomatoes are cut according to the directions in the recipe.
  • “Hunter” salad will be tastier if it is subjected to little heat treatment, which is why it is most often sealed without cooking, sterilizing it in jars beforehand. But there is also the most common way: boil the vegetables, put them in jars, and roll them up. If you use this option, it is better to chop the tomatoes not very finely and place them in the pan a little later than the other vegetables so that they retain their shape.
  • There is no point in saying that jars and their lids should be sterilized beforehand: it is naive to think that the snack will last all winter if you close it in insufficiently clean jars or break their density.

We present to your attention 4 recipes for “Hunter” salad: traditional, regular (without sterilization), special (with garlic) and extraordinary (with greenish tomatoes).
