Now would you like me to share with you the recipe for apple compote? The freshest apple compote is unusually moist and fragrant, especially if you make it from homemade fruits rather than store-bought ones, which are often treated with chemicals for greater preservation.

Below you will learn how to cook apple compote, and you will also find out what specific proportions of ingredients in our family are impeccable. The finished drink is moderately sweet, unobtrusively fresh and very fragrant. By the way, if you take fruits of a reddish or pink color, the apple compote will turn out to be a very appetizing, catchy color.

Ingredients:

Making a dish step by step:

To make compote from new apples, we will need apples, water and sweet sand. If your apples are sour, add a couple more tablespoons of sugar. If it’s sweet, you can remove a couple of spoons.

Place a pan of water on the fire. While it heats up, wash the apples. Cut any fruit (I have 3 pieces) into 8 parts, remove the core and tail.

Place apple slices in boiling water and cook for several minutes.

Then add sweet sand. We do all this without removing the pan from the stove (I filmed it to take a photo). Stir until the grains are completely dissolved. Taste the compote for sweetness and adjust if necessary.

It is necessary to cook the compote from new apples for another 5 minutes - so that the slices do not fall apart and at the same time are soft. Turn off the heat, cover the pan with a lid - the apple compote is ready. It can be drunk hot, warm or chilled. It is better to let the drink brew for at least half an hour.

Then we strain the apple compote and treat ourselves.

Apple compote made from new apples is not only a tasty, but also a necessary drink that you can prepare at home without any hassles! If you love pears, try making pear compote too.

How long to cook apple compote?

In a slow cooker, its production time will be 40-60 minutes.

Cooking compote for a child and for an adult is identical in time.

Secrets of making apple compote

  • The dishes in which apple compote is cooked should not oxidize. The best option is enameled, Teflon or stainless steel.
  • If the fruits are sweet, you can cook compote without adding sugar.
  • You can not add sugar at all during production, but create it just before serving. This makes it even easier to control the sweetness. You can also use honey instead of sugar.
  • If the fruits are sweet, then to obtain the most striking taste during cooking, add a few slices of lemon or a little citric acid.
  • Unripe greenish apples will make compote either completely tasteless or sour. To somehow give it some taste, add other fruits or berries: raspberries, cherries, apricots, etc.
  • It is necessary to cook the compote from new apples quickly so that they do not boil over. 3-4 minutes after boiling for early types, and for late winter ones - 7-10 minutes.
  • To prevent the slices from overcooking, they must be immersed in boiling water and cooked over very low heat, so that there is virtually no boiling.
  • The finished compote must be allowed to brew for at least 20-30 minutes in the container in which it was prepared. As a rule, leave it there until it cools completely, then the taste will be very rich.
  • In addition to the main ingredients, you can add cinnamon and vanilla to taste. These spices blend perfectly with the apples.

How to cook apple compote for the winter

  • For the winter, it is best to cover the apples completely. The fact is that early varieties of apples are very soft, so there is a risk that the pieces will simply spread out in the jar. It is best to select small, dense fruits of a similar size and use jars with a capacity of 2-3 liters.
  • You can roll up apples alone or add other fruits and berries to them.
  • In order for the jars to literally last all winter, you need to add citric acid to the compote, especially from sweet varieties.
  • You can preserve apples using the double hot pouring method, or simply pour the prepared hot compote into sterile jars and roll them up right away.

Apple compote for baby

Apple compote is one of the first drinks that can be given to a baby.

How long to cook apple compote for a child depends only on the variety: early and soft apples cook faster, late and hard apples take longer. The usual production time does not differ depending on who the drink is being prepared for.

Almost everyone is interested in whether it is possible to make compote for a child from unripe apples. This is not worth doing, because the highest level of acid can harm the delicate gastrointestinal tract (the gastrointestinal tract is the digestive system of the organs of real multicellular animals, designed to process and extract nutrients from food) of the baby. For this same reason, you should not eat very sour ripe fruits.
