New Year's celebrations are already very close - and this means that it is time to think about what to treat the main guest of any house in the coming 2015 - the attractive Sheep. Since the New Year 2015 according to the eastern calendar is considered the year of the Sheep (Goat), the most common and at the same time exciting option is to decorate the festive table with salads in the shape of a sheep.
Chicken “Sheep” salad
A very tasty, hearty salad for New Year’s Eve 2015 is called “Sheep” (a photo of the finished salad can be seen above). To make it we need the following ingredients:
- Chicken breast – 2 pcs.
- Potatoes – 3 pcs.
- Chicken egg – 4 pcs.
- Small carrots – 2 pcs.
To decorate the salad you will need several raisins and sprigs of dill, as well as mayonnaise
First, prepare all the necessary ingredients: boil the chicken breast and chicken eggs, cook the vegetables in their jackets. Then we clean the vegetables and grate them on a large grater, peel the eggs, take out the yolk and also grate the yolk and white separately.
That's all - the preparatory preparation is completed, now is the time to start “assembling” the salad. The first and most important layer is grated potatoes, from which we form the “lamb” itself, coating the layer with mayonnaise. By the way, you will have to coat all the layers with mayonnaise so that the salad does not fall apart - so in the end it will turn out to be quite high in calories.

- 4th layer – grated cheese
Well, in the end, we “dress” the resulting lamb in a “coat” of grated yolks, make eyes from raisins, and decorate the dish with “grass” from dill sprigs.
“Sheep” salad with cauliflower
The most common method of creating a real edible “lamb” from ordinary ingredients is to use cauliflower, which is indeed very similar to a curly sheep’s “coat”. To make this New Year's salad we will need:
- 300 grams of any meat
- 500 grams cauliflower
- A few tablespoons of canned corn
- 2 testicles
- Pickled cucumber (optional)
- Mayonnaise, salt and pepper to taste
- Olives for decoration
The first step is preliminary: you need to boil the eggs, boil the meat in salted water, and disassemble the cauliflower into individual inflorescences and also boil in salted water for 7-10 minutes. Cut the finished meat and eggs into cubes (don’t forget to throw in a few eggs to decorate the salad), mix with corn and pickled cucumber. Add mayonnaise, salt and pepper.
That's all - the salad itself is ready, the most exciting thing remains - its decoration. We put the salad on a serving plate in the shape of a sheep, compacting it a little with the palm of our hand, and then we “dress” the body of the sheep in a “coat” of boiled cauliflower inflorescences. We make the black face of the lamb from finely chopped olives. We also make the legs and ears from olives, and the eyes from a piece of protein. Decorate the finished dish with herbs.
Salad with sausage in the shape of a sheep's head
Any kind of meat is suitable for this salad, but it tastes best if you take smoked chicken. The ingredients are as follows:
- Smoked chicken – 250 grams
- Potatoes – 300 grams
- Pickled or pickled cucumbers – 200 grams
- Chicken eggs – 5 pcs.
- Hard cheese – 150 grams
- Mayonnaise
- Boiled sausage and olives for decoration

- Chicken eggs – 4 pcs.
- Onion – 1 pc.

As in all previous versions, we start making the layered salad “Sheep” with the lowest and most important layer of potatoes, boiled and grated on a large grater. It is very important to form a sheep’s head with ears out of potatoes. And if this doesn’t work out, you can make the task easier for yourself and first “mark” the outline of the future sheep’s head with mayonnaise. Be sure to coat the first layer with mayonnaise - in making puff salads it is a kind of “glue” that will hold all the layers together.

The final step is a layer of yolks, on which we will “draw” the animal’s face. We make the “bangs” of the sheep from grated cheese, the eyes and mouth from olives, and the nose from boiled carrots.

This salad can be prepared from all the ingredients that go well together. In my version, the main products are rice and olives, because it is with their help that the salad is prepared, and in order for the salad to be hearty, I chose chicken fillet. How to prepare “Layered salad “Sheep”” step by step with photos at home
To make the “Sheep” salad, we will need the following products: basmati rice, chicken fillet, tomatoes, onions, eggs, pickled mushrooms, olives and mayonnaise. You should immediately cook the rice and the chicken fillet separately. Also boil the eggs. While they are cooking, chop the mushrooms, tomatoes, onions and olives.
When the fillet is ready, it should be cooled and cut into cubes. Place on a plate in the shape of a supposed lamb. Apply mayonnaise randomly.
Next add the onions and apply mayonnaise again.
After the onions, place a layer of mushrooms. I used homemade pickled oyster mushrooms, but champignons are unsurpassed. Apply drops of mayonnaise again.
Grate the eggs, set aside a piece of the white to create an eye. Place eggs on top of mushrooms.
Next, add a layer of tomatoes and apply mayonnaise again. Place the salad in the refrigerator to soak slightly, maybe for 1 hour.
Take the salad out of the refrigerator, put the head out of chopped olives, and the body out of rice. I chose basmati rice, it looks very good as the “wool” of a sheep.
Make an eye from a piece of white, and create legs and an ear from halves of olives. Decorate a plate with salad when serving with greens. Bon appetit!
