Lenten oatmeal cookies: 4 recipes for making them with oatmeal at home

Lenten oatmeal cookies: 4 recipes for making them with oatmeal at home

Hello, dear guests and loyal readers! I love sweets recklessly, especially homemade cakes - in this I can compete with my child. Unfortunately, all the sweets I eat are immediately deposited on the waist and hips, which makes me very upset. But I found a way out that allows me to avoid the choice between goodies and a slim figure. Meet lean oatmeal cookies, very ordinary, tasty, and most importantly, low-calorie.

Such baked goods are a real godsend not only for fasting people, but also for all supporters of PP. Don’t forget about children, who are harmed by huge amounts of sugar, so this homemade delicacy is a good option. And the taste can be constantly changed by adding new ingredients. I like to add seasonal fruits: bake apple-oatmeal or pumpkin cookies, create baked goods with carrots or plums. Fruits and vegetables enrich the treat with fiber and add freshness. Baking with pumpkin and oatmeal has an extraordinary taste and smell.

You can add any dried fruits. They will make the treat more satisfying and add sweetness. It is prepared in vegetable oil, therefore it contains a small amount of calories. Cookies are perfect for home tea drinking; they can be taken to the office or given to children at school. And for contrast, during Lent I recommend trying a fragrant pie with apples or pancakes without eggs and milk.

A typical homemade oatmeal cookie recipe

A necessary and very tasty homemade pastry, which is prepared without eggs and sugar, but with nuts and dried fruits. This is a really simple recipe.   • 10 tbsp. vegetable oil;
  • 1 tsp baking powder;

And this fruit can be purchased without any problems at any time of the year, so there will be no problems with finding ingredients. The cookies come out fragrant, light and very tender in taste.

Lenten oatmeal cookies

Making delicious things like cookies during Lent takes a lot of brainpower. Really, how can you bake truly delicious cookies without eggs, butter, or milk? Can! Lenten oatmeal cookies can be baked using only lean ingredients and still turn out great.

Lenten oatmeal cookies can be prepared using several recipes. The base, of course, contains oatmeal or oat flakes. You can use any flakes, but it is better to use high-quality flakes; the cookies will be the most tender. Oatmeal can be ground directly into flour using a blender or coffee grinder, or you can throw in the coarse pieces. You can use regular wheat flour as an additional ingredient. Of course, in any Lenten recipe there is always room for imagination: the flour can be not only the highest grade, but also the first grade or even with bran. The flour may be wheat, rye, pea, buckwheat, rice, chickpeas - each time the taste of the cookies will be slightly different, and each time the baked goods will be enriched with certain useful substances inherent in this or that type of flour.

Instead of sugar, it is better to add honey to lean oatmeal cookies, especially since this is a must when making traditional cookies. And another traditional addition is raisins, and darker varieties are better. Naturally, it’s difficult to resist adding something new. Any dried fruits, nuts, seeds, candied fruits - everything goes into use!

  1. Mix honey, water and vegetable oil in a deep bowl. We begin to heat this mixture so that the honey dissolves.
  2. Add cinnamon, nutmeg and soda. We continue to heat everything over low heat until the mass begins to transform into foam. Do not bring to a boil.
  3. Remove the bowl from the stove and add the cereal. In a warm environment they will soften and swell.
  4. Mix everything and add the required amount of flour.
  5. The dough is ready: it should be quite thick, but not very sticky.
  6. Let's start sculpting. Thanks to the vegetable oil in the dough, it rolls into balls unmatched. Place them on a baking sheet.
  7. We will bake for 25 minutes at 180° - the circles will brown and rise due to the soda.
  8. Let the finished cookies cool slightly and let them lie under a clean, dry towel.

We brew tea and serve to the table honey-brown, deliciously cracked oatmeal cookies, a favorite since youth, which will never get boring.

Lenten oatmeal banana cookies
