  • chicken fillet - 300 g;
  • hard Dutch cheese - 100 g;
  • raisins (preferably light) - 250 g;
  • raw carrots (1 large or 2 small);
  • walnuts (1 cup);
  • onion (2 heads);
  • oranges (2 pieces);
  • mayonnaise;
  • sugar and salt to taste.

The process of making a recipe consists of stacking the goods in layers.

  1. Take chicken fillet and boil it. If you are a fan of smoked or fried meat, then these options are also suitable. We cut it finely.
  2. At the same time, prepare the pickled onion, to do this, cut the onion into half rings and pour boiling water over it, you can also add lemon juice or a little vinegar and let it sit for 15 minutes so that all the bitterness goes away.
  3. Chop the nuts well using a knife. Grate hard cheese on a coarse grater, and raw carrots on a small grater.
  4. Pour boiling water over the raisins and let them sit and soften for a little while, then drain the water.
  5. Peel the orange and cut each segment into small pieces.

  • chicken eggs - 2 pieces;
  • hard Dutch cheese - 100 g;

  • vinegar - 1 large spoon;
  • salt and sugar.

I occasionally prepare salads with mayonnaise, and even less often I make puff salads, but the French salad is an exception to the rule. Tender and indescribably juicy, this salad is delicious at any time of the year. The combination of new vegetables, apples, herbs, eggs and cheese turns out to be refreshing, nutritious and very light. This salad will decorate the table on weekdays and will add pleasant abundance to the festive menu.

You can find different versions of this salad online. The main ingredients are similar - fresh carrots, apples, eggs and cheese. The differences are in the little things - some add meat, while others add nuts and pineapples.

Any option is fascinating in its own way, but the closest thing to me is the most common vegetable version of a salad with the freshest herbs in the composition. This “French” salad turns out to be very light and rich in vitamins, and besides, all the ingredients for its preparation are almost always on hand.

Well, so that the salad does not get lost on the festive table, I would like to offer you an idea for its extraordinary design. An orange “carrot” made of puff pastry with a catchy “tops” of dill – in this “outfit”, the “French” salad with apple and carrots is sure to amaze guests not only with its taste, but also with its appearance! Prepare the ingredients according to the list. Boil the eggs.

Finely chop the onion. To soften its taste, add apple cider vinegar, stir and let sit for 5-7 minutes. Another option is to pour boiling water over the onions.

Prepare all salad ingredients. Grate the carrots and cheese, chop the greens.

Separate the egg yolks and whites and grate them as well. Lastly, before you start assembling the salad, grate the apples.

In order to prepare and serve the “French” salad in portions, use a ring form. If you, like me, do not have such a form, then you can create it from the funds at hand. You can glue a ring of cardboard and wrap it in foil or cling film, or the quickest option is to cut a piece of suitable height from a plastic bottle.

Place the mold on a plate and you can start assembling the salad.

The 1st and 2nd layers are the juiciest ones - onion and apple. I usually mix them. Acetic acid prevents the apples from darkening, and the taste is softer.

Add a layer of mayonnaise and a pinch of salt and pepper. I use homemade mayonnaise and add it in small quantities.

Place other layers in random order. I have this: dill, egg white, carrots, egg yolk, cheese.

Between layers, add a little mayonnaise, salt and ground black pepper.

The salad can be served immediately, but if you allow it to steep a little, it will become even tastier.

I cover the pan with cling film and place it in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes.

Now I’ll tell you about another ordinary and beautiful method of designing and serving “French” salad - in the form of a “carrot”.

Thaw and roll out puff pastry as needed. Cut the dough into 2 cm wide strips.

Wrap the cone molds in foil. You can use special iron cones or roll an ordinary sheet of paper into a cone shape.

Wrap strips of dough around the cones to form carrot tubes.

When rolling the dough, try to make the edges of the strips touch and overlap each other. This way the tube will turn out to be solid.

Mix egg yolk with orange food coloring.

Brush the surface of the dough with yolk.

Place the “carrots” in the oven and bake for 10–13 minutes at 180–200 degrees.

Remove the molds and cool the carrot tubes.

Fill the chilled tubes with salad.

Decorate the top of the tubes with dill sprigs.

Our carrot salad is ready! The salad can be served immediately or allowed to steep slightly.

Wash the carrots, peel them and grate them on a large grater.

Prepare the sauce. In a bowl, mix Dijon mustard, lemon juice, honey, both types of oil, salt and pepper.
