Cheese balls

Cheese balls

Now I’m offering a recipe for a simple and tasty snack, which should especially appeal to cheese lovers. We will prepare delicious and satisfying deep-fried cheese balls. They are served hot immediately after production, so that the melted cheese under the golden crust does not have time to cool and stretches.

Be sure to pamper your man and prepare cheese balls - this is a delicious snack for beer! They are also delicious simply on their own or with garlic sauce, sour cream or ketchup. True, in order for the result to please you not only with its taste, but also with its appearance, you need to know a couple of secrets, which I will certainly share with you as the recipe progresses.

Ingredients:

Making a dish step by step:

To make very tasty and satisfying cheese balls, let’s take any cheese like Russian or Dutch (the main thing is that it melts perfectly), egg whites, very little salt (and then optional), wheat flour and refined vegetable (I use sunflower) oil for frying (or rather deep frying). The amount of flour (3 tablespoons are added to the dough, and for breading you will need approximately half a glass - I did not indicate this in the ingredients) may vary - it all depends on the size of the proteins.

So, we grind the cheese on a small grater (not the one for potato pancakes, but a little larger). What comes out is typical cheese shavings.

Pour raw egg whites into a clean and dry container of suitable size. Add almost a pinch of salt so that the whites are perfectly beaten.

Beat the egg whites with a mixer or whisk until foamy, as for a sponge cake or meringue. The mass must hold its shape perfectly and not move in the bowl.

Add crushed cheese to the whites.

Next, sift three tablespoons of wheat flour.

Mix everything with your hands until a sticky mass comes out. If the dough comes apart and does not hold its shape, add a little more wheat flour.

Now sift a sufficient amount of flour onto a large flat dish or cutting board - this is breading. Wet your hands in water and divide the dough into small pieces of similar size. Roll them into balls - mine are the size of a fairly small walnut (only part of the balls is shown in the photo).

Generously roll the cheese pieces in the wheat flour, shaking off the excess (it will burn in the bubbling oil).

In a small saucepan or saucepan, heat the vegetable oil without aroma. It is important that it warms up perfectly - you can check by throwing in a small piece of cheese dough. And now a very important moment! To ensure that the cheese balls come out in a neat round shape, they must be fried in small portions. In addition, we do not place the workpieces in boiling oil, but lower them on a slotted spoon (a wide flat spoon with holes) so that they do not touch the bottom. Otherwise, the crust that will be created on the balls will burst upon contact with the bottom of the dish and the melted cheese will flow out. You will get anything but round balls. Yes, and don’t forget to constantly stir the contents of the saucepan, not letting the balls touch the bottom.

Fry the cheese balls in batches until golden brown, remove with a slotted spoon and place on a plate. If you wish, you can layer the dish with cardboard napkins so that they absorb excess oil.

Serve these delicious cheese balls straight from the heat, hot. They are perfectly mixed with garlic sauce, ketchup or simply sour cream with fresh herbs. And this is also an excellent snack for beer, among other things!

If you love cheese in all its forms, then try making a delicious snack - cheese balls.

What ingredients will be needed?

The main ingredient is known and it is listed in the title. But what is the best cheese to consume? Most recipes indicate hard, and any of its varieties are completely suitable: both light creamy and spicy, special. But you can experiment and use processed or smoked sausage cheese, and such a substitution will make the thickness and taste of the dish completely different.

As for other ingredients, they depend on the specific recipe and your personal preferences. Some people love salty snacks, which go perfectly with beer and other drinks, while others prefer special and spicy dishes.

Manufacturing options

How to make cheese balls? There are a huge number of options, the most worthy of attention are discussed below.

Option 1

These are traditional cheese balls for beer. To make them you will need:

  • 300-350 grams of hard cheese;
  • four tablespoons of wheat flour;
  • two or three testicles;
  • salt.
  1. First, grate the cheese, preferably on a small or at least medium grater.
  2. Now add eggs and flour to the shredded cheese (leave a little for coating), stir everything thoroughly. It is best to use your hand for mixing, because a blender or mixer is unlikely to cope with the task given to us.
  3. Form balls from the resulting homogeneous cheese mass and roll each one in flour.
  4. Next, heat a sufficient amount of oil in a frying pan.
  5. Fry the balls for a few minutes until they get a beautiful golden crust.

Option 2

You can create special balls of cheese with garlic and herbs. Useful:

  • three processed cheese or 300 g of smoked sausage cheese (it is best to use “Amber”);
  • two testicles;
  • 100 ml mayonnaise;
  • two or three cloves of garlic;
  • a large bunch of dill.
  1. First you need to hard boil the chicken eggs. Next, peel them and grate them on a medium grater.
  2. Also grate the cheese, mix with grated eggs, add mayonnaise and previously peeled garlic, crushed using any method.
  3. You should get a flexible, homogeneous mass. Start forming balls out of it (if the composition sticks to your hands, you can moisten them with cool water).
  4. Wash the greens, dry them and chop them finely with a knife.
  5. Dip the finished balls in chopped dill and serve.

Option 3

For the festive table, you can prepare a light appetizer - delicious cheese balls with crab sticks. Here's what you'll need:

  • about 200 grams of any hard cheese;
  • one small processed cheese;
  • two testicles;
  • garlic to taste;
  • seven to eight tablespoons of mayonnaise;
  • a pack of crab sticks (100-150 grams).
  1. Grate the hard cheese and the melted cheese on a grater.
  2. Boil the eggs and grate them too.
  3. Peel the garlic and chop it using any convenient method.
  4. Crab sticks can either be grated like other ingredients, or finely chopped with a knife or chopped in a blender.
  5. Now mix two types of cheese, chopped crab sticks, eggs and garlic, add mayonnaise.
  6. You should get a homogeneous mass from which you need to form balls. They can be decorated with greenery if desired.

Option four

The cheese balls just blend perfectly with the creamy sauce! To prepare such a delicious appetizer, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 300 grams of hard cheese;
  • three chicken eggs;
  • three cloves of garlic;
  • 5 tablespoons of wheat flour.

To make the sauce:

  • a glass of medium fat cream;
  • two tablespoons of flour;
  • about 10 g butter.
  1. Tackle the balls first. Grate the cheese, add eggs, flour and chopped garlic using any method. From the resulting homogeneous and dense mass you need to form balls.
  2. Heat the oil well in a frying pan and fry your balls in it. After heat treatment, they should acquire an appetizing golden brown color.
  3. Now you can move on to the sauce. Take a clean frying pan and fry the flour in it for almost a few minutes (the bottom must be dry). Next, add the butter, melt it and fry the mixture for several minutes. Later, pour in the cream and cook the sauce over low heat, stirring constantly. The duration of the manufacturing process will depend on the desired thickness (the longer you cook the sauce, the richer and thicker it will be).
  4. Serve the balls on a platter and place a container of creamy sauce next to it.

Option 5

If you want something unusual, make cheese balls with ham insides in the oven. To do this, prepare:

  • 200 g hard cheese;
  • approximately a glass of wheat flour;
  • 150 grams of ham or boiled sausage (in principle, any other meat product will do);
  • a stick of butter;
  • chicken egg;
  • one clove of garlic.
  1. First, grate the hard cheese on a grater, preferably the smallest one.
  2. Soften the butter, mix it with the egg and flour, add the chopped cheese, and start kneading the dough. It should become elastic and dense, so add a little flour as needed.
  3. Cut the ham into small pieces.
  4. Separate a small portion of the cheese dough, form it into a flatbread, place a piece of ham in the center, fold the edges and roll into a ball. Make other balls in the same way.
  5. Cover a baking sheet with parchment, grease it with oil, place the balls on it so that they do not touch together.
  6. Place the baking sheet in an oven preheated to 180-190 degrees for almost fifteen or 20 minutes.

Adviсe

As a result, a few useful tips that will make the snack even more delicious:

  • It is best to grate the cheese directly on a small grater, in which case the mixture will be the most homogeneous and gentle.
  • Serve the balls hot; they are not as tasty when cool.
  • An impeccable serving option is balls laid out on a large plate, platter or tray. In this case, guests will be able to take them with a fork.
  • If the recipe involves heat treatment, then frying in a frying pan in oil can be replaced by deep-frying. In this case, the duration of the process will be reduced to one or two minutes, but it is important to bring the oil to a boil in advance so that a crispy crust appears.
  • Cheese balls with entrails turn out to be very tasty and unusual. And you can use various ingredients as it, for example, fried mushrooms, reddish sea fish, and so on.
  • You can add other ingredients to the cheese mass. For example, if frying is not required, use the freshest greens, chopped lightly salted salmon.
  • Roll the balls not in flour, but in breadcrumbs, then they will turn out the crispiest.
