To prepare the dish, you need to choose a perfectly shaped pumpkin. The best size is about 20 cm in diameter. You can use a larger pumpkin to accommodate more pieces of chicken and vegetables. But it takes a long time to bake a huge pumpkin, and the dish may fall apart when serving.

To fill the pumpkin, you can use boned legs, cut into pieces. Or you can remove fillets from the legs. But when using pieces with a bone, the inside will be thicker and more fragrant due to the gelling substances.

Cut the legs into two parts - drumstick and thigh. If fillet is used, it must be removed in large pieces. Salt and pepper the legs, fry in vegetable oil until a light crust appears. Leave the fried chicken to cool.

Let's wash the pumpkin. Let's step back 5 cm from the tail and cut off the cap. Using a spoon, scoop out the seeds and fibers. Then we take out some of the pulp.   • pumpkin (300 g);

  • garlic cloves (4 pcs.);

  • French mustard + sugar (1 tsp each);
  • a mixture of peppers, curry and paprika.

Peel the pumpkin from seeds and skin and cut into cubes. We also cut the chicken, in my case chicken fillet, into cubes. If you plan to use chicken pieces with bones, then simply chop them into convenient portion pieces.


Since in the recipe for chicken with pumpkin in the oven I also used Brussels sprouts, and I had them frozen, I defrosted them in the microwave earlier. The photo shows cabbage that has not yet been thawed.


Place the pumpkin, chicken and cabbage in a bowl or pan and add three tablespoons of soy sauce and oil (sunflower or olive). We also add a little salt (a third of a tablespoon) and ground pepper (a third of a teaspoon). Mix the ingredients, cover the bowl or pan with a lid or cover it with cling film and leave it in the refrigerator to marinate.

Determine the marinating time yourself depending on the urgency of preparing chicken with pumpkin in the oven. You can marinate the ingredients for 1 hour, or overnight (that is, in the dark) . In this case, I marinated the chicken and pumpkin for a little over an hour.
