Meatballs in a slow cooker in sour cream sauce

Meatballs in a slow cooker in sour cream sauce

Since the appearance of such a wonderful invention in our home as a multicooker, preparing certain dishes has become more exciting and, importantly, much easier. Firstly, the food in it tastes even better; secondly, there is no need to watch the cooking process (stir, check to see if the liquid has boiled away, etc.); thirdly, you don’t need to worry about the fact that you might accidentally forget about a pot or frying pan standing on the fire - the multicooker will turn itself off after the time given to it has passed. Now we will cook savory meatballs in a slow cooker in sour cream sauce.

This dish can be served in a duet with any side dish (cereals, vegetables, pasta). For the sauce we use sour cream and ketchup plus add a few vegetables. To make minced meatballs, let’s immediately take a number of types of meat in approximately similar proportions (turkey, pork, beef and heart).

  • meat - in general about 700 g;
  • Short grain rice – 2/3 multi-cup;
  • onions – 2 small heads;
  • garlic – 2 large cloves;
  • medium-sized carrots - 1 root vegetable;
  • salt and pepper mixture - to taste;
  • vegetable oil – 40-50 ml;
  • chicken egg;
  • wheat flour - about 3 tbsp. spoon;
  • sour cream of any fat content – 100 g;
  • ketchup (tomato sauce or paste) – 60 g;
  • meat broth – 1.5 multi-cups;
  • semolina - heaped tablespoon.

  • Meatball making time is about 80 minutes.
  • Yield: 12 meatballs.

Meatballs in a slow cooker in sour cream sauce: recipe

First, rinse the rice well and pour boiling water over it, then move it aside.

Thoroughly wash all the cooked meat, half the garlic and 1 peeled onion, cut into small pieces and transform into minced meat using a meat grinder with a small mesh.

Add the minced meat with spices, eggs, semolina and rice (salt all the water from it first), mix and leave for about a quarter of an hour alone.

In the meantime, peel and rinse the second onion, the remaining garlic, carrots, and chop as desired.

Pour oil into a multi-cooker bowl and sauté hot vegetables in the “Fry” mode for three minutes. Then add the carrots and continue frying for a few more minutes.

While the multicooker is running, roll the prepared minced meat into small meatballs (a little larger than a plastic tennis ball) and roll in flour.

Place the meatballs and rice in a bowl directly on top of the vegetables.

Mix the remaining flour with ketchup, sour cream, broth and salt, and pour this sauce over the meatballs in the slow cooker.

If desired, you can put a few potatoes cut into slices on top of the meatballs.

Close the multicooker and set the “Stewing” mode for a cooking time of 60 minutes. As soon as the device emits the long-awaited sound signal, our meatballs in sour cream sauce in the slow cooker will be ready.

Most often, meatballs are cooked in tomato sauce, but sour cream sauce also goes well with them. Meatballs are made from minced meat with the addition of cereals or vegetables. In this recipe, fried onions and carrots are added to the minced meat, as well as sour cream, which imparts extraordinary tenderness and juiciness to the meatballs. The result is a hearty dish with a pleasant creamy smell and taste.

To make meatballs in sour cream sauce in a slow cooker, I prepare the products according to the list.

I cut off the crust from the loaf slices and pour cool milk over them.

Peel the onion and cut it into quarter rings.

I peel the carrots and grate them on a large grater.

I turn the multicooker on to the “Roasting” mode for 20 minutes. Pour 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil into a bowl, add chopped onions, fry until soft, stirring occasionally.

Add grated carrots, mix and fry some more. I put the vegetables out of the bowl onto a plate to let them cool.

I'm preparing minced meat for meatballs. In a bowl I combine minced meat, 1/4 of the fried vegetables, squeezed out loaf slices, salt and dark ground pepper to taste, sour cream, Italian herbs, and an egg.

I knead the minced meat well, form small balls, and roll in flour.

I pour the remaining vegetable oil into the multicooker bowl, turn on the “Frying” program for 20-25 minutes, and fry the meatballs in several stages.

I'm preparing the filling. In a bowl, mix sour cream and water, add salt and dark ground pepper to taste. I stir the mixture until the salt dissolves.

I put the remaining fried vegetables in the multicooker bowl, and put the meatballs on top.

I end up with several layers of meatballs.

I pour the filling into the bowl and add a bay leaf.

I close the lid of the multicooker and turn on the “Stew” mode for 40 minutes. The sauce becomes thicker and also has a beautiful color due to the presence of carrots.

I serve these meatballs with pasta, rice or mashed potatoes, pouring over the sauce, adding fried vegetables and sprinkling with chopped herbs.

Each housewife has her own secret for making meatballs, some add vegetables, herbs or rice, some make them without any additives; personally, I have already tried at least 10 manufacturing options. The most successful, in my opinion, is the recipe for meatballs cooked in thick tomato and sour cream sauce.

To make it I take

In a deep bowl, mix the minced meat, add salt, finely chopped onion, chopped herbs and raw rice. I take approximately the amount of rice depending on how much minced meat. I mix everything thoroughly; if the minced meat is very dry, I add a little water for juiciness. Then I leave the kneaded minced meat aside so that it is saturated with moisture.
