Salad ingredients may vary in different recipes. Typically, the salad contains boiled beets, raw carrots, cheese, nuts (usually walnuts), raisins, prunes, and garlic. Decorate the salad with lemon seeds or canned sweet corn, sprigs of fresh spicy herbs.

Usually the layers of lettuce are laid in the following way. Raw carrots are grated on a small grater and the juice is allowed to drain from them. If the carrot variety is not sweet, lightly sprinkle the carrots with sugar.
