Recipe for “Stewed cabbage with minced meat”:

Shred the cabbage. Pour oil into a frying pan and add cabbage, cover with a lid and simmer over low heat. About halfway through cooking, add salt to the cabbage.

While the cabbage is stewing, chop the onion finely and carrots on a large grater. We send everything to another frying pan and sauté. When the onions and carrots are almost ready, add the minced meat. Add salt and curry 0.5 tsp to the mixture of minced meat and vegetables.

Cut the tomatoes into small cubes.

Add tomatoes to the meat and vegetable mixture and simmer until tender.

When the cabbage is almost ready, add the mixture of minced meat and vegetables, mix everything well and simmer until fully cooked. At the end add finely chopped greens.

The proposed recipes differ slightly in ingredients, but minced meat and cabbage are included in any of the recipes. This is the base of the dish.

Cabbage stewed with minced meat, traditional recipe

To make it you will need:

  • Cabbage – 1 kilogram
  • Minced meat – 400 gr
  • Onion – 100 gr
  • Carrots – 100 gr
  • Tomato paste – 2 tablespoons
  • Bay leaf – 2 pieces
  • Vegetable oil – 4 tablespoons
  • Salt, pepper - to taste

Eight simple steps and your cabbage with minced meat in a frying pan will be ready.


Cooking vegetables. Wash the carrots, peel them and grate them on a large grater. Peel the onion and finely chop it or put it in a blender. Chop the cabbage into fine thin strips.


Add any vegetable oil to the frying pan, preferably without flavor, heat it up and place the minced meat in the frying pan.


Fry the minced meat in a frying pan until it turns white and becomes crumbly. Approximately 10 minutes. Stir the minced meat occasionally.


Add finely chopped onion to the minced meat, mix and fry for 2 minutes.


Now add the carrots, mix them with the minced meat and onions and fry for 5 minutes.


After the minced meat with onions and carrots are fried, add the cabbage. Do not mix the cabbage and minced meat yet, but close the lid and leave to simmer for 10 minutes. We wait until the cabbage becomes limp.


After the cabbage has softened, mix it with the minced meat, cover with a lid and cook until it becomes soft.


And the final touch. Add tomato paste, bay leaf and a little pepper for spiciness to the soft cabbage with minced meat. Simmer covered for 10 minutes.

And look how beautiful it came out. Now you can probably cook stewed cabbage with minced meat in a frying pan.

And at the moment we are slightly modernizing our traditional recipe. Let's change the ingredients slightly.

  • Cabbage 1 kilogram
  • Any kind of minced meat - 500 g
  • Orange – 400 gr
  • Garlic - 2 cloves
  • Onion – 1 piece
  • Salt, pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons

All ingredients are ready, let's start making.

First we prepare the vegetables. Shred the cabbage, finely chop the onion and garlic.

Then we prepare the oranges. We remove the zest, but do not throw it away, we will need it later. We disassemble the orange into slices, removing the films, and cut into large cubes.

Fry onions and garlic in vegetable oil.

Add the minced meat, salt and pepper it immediately and lightly fry.

Add the zest and fry for 5 minutes.

Add cabbage and oranges, mix and simmer, covered, until tender (35-40 minutes).

The highlight of this recipe is that the orange adds flavor and delicate sourness to this dish.

  • minced meat – 350 g;
  • onions – 1 piece;
  • carrots - 1 piece.

How to cook stewed cabbage with minced meat in a frying pan

We free the cabbage from dirty leaves and cut it into “checkers” or into a middle strip. I chose the 2nd option.

Peel the onion and cut into cubes.

Peel the carrots and grate them on a large grater. It can also be chopped into Korean strips.

Heat 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a frying pan and place the minced meat on it.

Fry the meat until it becomes crumbly and turns white.

Add chopped onion to the meat frying. Fry everything together for a few more minutes.

It's time to add the carrots.

Fry the minced meat with vegetables for 5 minutes.

Now it’s time for the main ingredient – ​​cabbage. Place it in the frying pan, add 150 ml of water and, without stirring, cover the pan with a lid.

After 10 minutes, the cabbage will become limp and the contents can simply be stirred. Add salt and close the lid.

The cabbage stewing time will vary depending on its variety and freshness. Warm young cabbage takes almost 20 minutes to cook, but hard “winter” varieties will have to be stewed for 30–40 minutes.

When the dish is almost ready, in other words, the cabbage will be soft, but not boiled, you need to add the final ingredients: 3 tablespoons of tomato paste, 4 pinches of pepper and bay leaf. Mix everything thoroughly.

Simmer the contents of the pan under the lid for another 10 minutes and turn off the heat.

Stewed cabbage with minced meat is laid out on portioned plates and sprinkled with fresh herbs.

Dill, parsley or green onion are perfect for this.
