- Selection of recipes
There is no doubt that compotes are more necessary and popular homemade drinks. They are intensively boiled for specific consumption after production or stored for future use for long-term storage. They prefer to cook compotes, usually from the freshest fruit or berry products, but, unfortunately, this can only be done during a certain time period, in other words, during the harvest season. During the rest of the year, frozen fruit and berry ingredients are used. But there is a beautiful base for making wonderful compotes almost every year - these are dried fruits. Drinks made from them constantly differ in the richness of their taste and special smell, because all the microelements that were contained in whole natural specimens are concentrated in small dried fruits. Particularly popular is dried apricot compote, that is, when dried apricots are used, and it is often boiled both at home and in catering establishments.
In addition to its wonderful taste properties, this drink can boast multiple unique beneficial qualities.
Usefulness of compote
A drink made from high-quality and properly dried apricots promotes:
- Removal of accumulated radionuclides, cholesterol (Insoluble in water, soluble in fats and organic solvents.) and heavy metals.
- Correction of vision organs.
- Stabilization of the hematopoietic and entire cardiovascular system.
- Improving the digestion process.
- Eliminate possible constipation.
- Blocking the actions of the onset of anemia.
- Normalization of blood pressure at the proper level.
- Creating a general strengthening effect for any organism.
- Providing a mild diuretic effect.
- Improving the condition of the hair and dermatology.
Among the contraindications, there is an allergic intolerance of the body to this fruit, which can manifest itself when drinking the drink and exacerbating pancreatitis or peptic ulcers of the gastrointestinal tract.
Cooking compote from dried apricots will not be particularly difficult, but it is better to take into account certain culinary aspects.
Selection of dried apricots and drink personality
To make a real compote from dried dried apricots, at a minimum, you definitely need high-quality dried fruits, which are dried apricot halves and do not have a pit.
They can be one of 4 types:
- Canteens.
- First.
- Supreme.
- Groups extra.
Each of these types differs not only in appearance or color, but also in taste, although they are all amazingly suitable for compotes.
The color of dried apricots can be brown, orange or even dark brown. You should not choose dried fruits with particularly bright colors, because this is an obvious sign that they have been treated with certain chemicals. Only the natural colors of the slightly matte skin indicate the naturalness and highest quality of the dried product.
But even if the dried apricots look perfect, they definitely need to be doused with boiling water, thoroughly washed and soaked again for about 20 minutes. These “water procedures” will make the dried apricots even softer, which will allow the compote to be given all the useful microelements that are in it.
If several types of dried fruits are used for a drink, then any of them is soaked separately.
In those disappointing cases, when the drink turned out to be very sugary, a few drops of lemon juice or even a little citric acid will come to the rescue.
Usually, no more than 0.3 teaspoon of lemon is taken per liter of drink.
How long to cook the compote is up to anyone to decide on their own, but it is generally accepted that no more than 10 minutes is enough for this process.
The cooked dried apricot compote must be infused, which will allow you to create a ready-made drink with an even richer taste.
Compote for specific consumption is stored for no more than 3 days, because after a day its flavor begins to noticeably fade.
It should be seen that all recipes for compotes from dried apricots are so trivial in technology that even an inexperienced housewife can achieve guaranteed positive results. Several of the most common and successful prescription versions are offered below.
Selection of recipes
To make a wonderful compote, you don’t need to choose complex recipe options at all, because you can safely prepare it from just 3 components. At the same time, products for such a drink are constantly available and are sold in all food markets, and currently in hypermarkets.
Traditional version
- Dried apricots – approximately 100 50 gr.
- Water - only one liter.
- Sugar - a couple of tablespoons.
- Before all this you need to prepare the dried apricots. It is poured with boiling water, washed, dried and placed in a working vessel of a suitable container.
- Then the dried apricots are again poured with boiling water of the indicated size, allowed to steam for about fifteen minutes, and then the process of cooking the compote begins.
- After the drink has boiled, sugar is added and everything is boiled for ten minutes.
- Then the compote is removed from the stove and left to steep for 40 minutes. During this period of time, it will have time to completely cool down.
That's all the simple traditional development of making a unique drink from dried apricots.
Dried apricots mix amazingly with almost all fresh fruits or even with other dried fruits.
Apple version
It is very better to use apples with dense pulp, because other varieties may simply boil and the compote will become cloudy with floating apple particles.
- Dried apricots - about two hundred grams.
- Apples are a couple of medium-sized fruits.
- Sugar - half a glass, faceted.
- Water - about a liter and a half.
- Cinnamon is just one stick, but you don’t have to use it.
- First, the dried apricots are washed and poured with boiling water for 20 minutes.
- During this period of time, the apples are prepared. They are washed, dried, cut into fragments suitable for compote, freed from seeds and laid out in a working container in which the compote will be cooked.
- Then the following are added to the apples: steamed dried apricots, cinnamon, sugar and everything is filled with a measured portion of water.
- Then the future compote is placed on the stove and cooked for 6 minutes.
- After this, the finished drink is left alone for just an hour to infuse.
- If there is a certain need, then the prepared compote of apples and dried apricots can be strained, and the boiled fruit can be used for other culinary purposes.
If desired, you can replace the freshest apples with dried ones. They and dried apricots are taken in equal quantities. Apples, like dried apricots, need to be steamed in advance, but this is done in a separate bowl. Then they are combined with the components indicated above and boiled for about 10 minutes. Other types of dried fruits are used using a very similar technology: prunes, pears, raisins, dates, etc.
Children's version
Compote of dried apricots is very useful for babies, but the drink can only be added to baby food after reaching the age of 1 year. In addition, this must be done with the utmost caution, because certain signs of allergies may appear, for example:
- Peeling of the skin.
- Hives.
- Edema (excessive accumulation of fluid in the extracellular tissue spaces of the body) near the lips.
- Watery stool.
For children's compote, the introduction of sugar is unacceptable, because the baby will be completely satisfied with the sweetness that will go into the apricot water.
- Uryuk - a little more than 100 fifty grams.
- Water - about one and a half liters is enough.
- First, you should thoroughly wash the apricots, pour boiling water over them and let them steam for a couple of hours.
- After this, the apricots are washed again, placed in a working saucepan, poured with boiling water and cooked for no longer than 10 minutes.
- Then the finished drink simply cools down in the most natural way. During this period of time it will have time to fully brew.
- Then the “baby” compote is filtered and poured into feeding mugs or bottles.
- This particular “light” drink made from dried apricots can be safely given to children even up to 1 year of age.
The main recipes given above are completely enough to cook a completely worthy dried apricot compote and amuse those around you with its divine taste. It is important not to overdo it with sugar, but even if this happens in a hurry, it is not difficult to dilute the compote with warm water before use.

The benefits and harms of dried apricots
Apricots are the raw material for dried apricots. Dried apricots, as you know, are dried apricots that have retained a lot of essential substances for health during processing.
But, like most fruits, this dried fruit can bring both benefits and harm if consumed in large quantities. Any of the fruits contains:
- Vitamin A (a low-molecular organic compound of relatively simple structure, essential for all living things) A, which ensures the normalization of the regenerative capabilities of the epithelium (Epithelium lat. epithelium, from ancient Greek - - super- and - nipple of the mammary gland) and other tissues and slows down the aging process .
- Vitamins (a group of low molecular weight organic compounds of relatively simple structure and varied chemical nature) of group B, responsible for controlling energy metabolism, stabilizing blood sugar (the internal environment of the human and animal body) , and strengthening the nervous and digestive systems.
- Nicotinic acid, which normalizes (accelerates) blood circulation (blood circulation throughout the body) , restoring the body's metabolism.
- Vitamin (low-molecular organic compound of relatively simple structure, essential for all living things) C, which helps strengthen the immune system, eliminate inflammatory effects, normalizes the functioning of the cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract (gastrointestinal tract - the digestive system of the organs of real multicellular animals, intended for processing and extraction from food nutrients) .
- Calcium and magnesium: 2 interacting microelements contribute to the normalization of hematopoiesis, tissue restoration, proper muscle contraction, and conduction of nerve (an animal organ that serves to transmit important information for the body to the brain) .
- Potassium, necessary for the function of the heart and blood vessels.
- Iron is involved in energy metabolism and is a necessary element for those who suffer from anemia.
The dry fruit also contains phosphorus, copper, manganese and cobalt. If you look at the table of BJU content in products, then per 100 g of dried apricots there are:
- Proteins - 5.2 g;
- Carbohydrates - 61 g;
- Fats - 0.3 g.
The calorie content of the product is approximately 240.8 kcal. In other words, for those who decide to lose weight, this fruit will have to be excluded from the diet. But some nutritionists allow us to fool the body and reduce the feeling of hunger specifically with the help of the sweetness given to us: it is necessary to dissolve one slice of dried apricot for several minutes.
The diuretic property of dried fruit is another plus in losing weight. Excess water will gently and without consequences leave the body, relieving the person of swelling. For the same reasons, the product is recommended during pregnancy. At the same time, by removing potassium, calcium and other useful substances with waste products, dried apricots immediately restore their quantity in full.
The delicacy in limited quantities helps cleanse the intestinal tract, removing waste and toxins (Ancient Greek toxin (toxikos) - poisonous - poison of biological origin) . But if you eat more than 100 g of the product, you can, on the contrary, harm the body: dried apricots can greatly upset digestion. Dried fruit is contraindicated in case of exacerbation of pancreatitis, gastritis or ulcers.
Compote as part of the diet in schools and kindergartens
The possibility of an allergic reaction to such a drink is small, which is why it is intensively used in kindergartens and schools. The benefits of dried apricots for a growing body can hardly be overestimated. In particular, dried fruit helps to cope with vitamin deficiencies in the winter and early in the spring. Dried apricots strengthen the immune system unsurpassedly and are part of the prevention of colds. In addition, dried apricots improve the digestion process.
Even infants are prepared with a tasty and necessary drink, but not earlier than from the age of six months.
In the technological maps for preschool educational institutions, the recommended yield of dishes from this dried fruit for feeding babies is 180 ml. It is recommended to make a drink with the addition of honey instead of sugar, which reduces the calorie content of dried apricot compote.
