Recipe for “Lenten very lazy cabbage rolls”:

Boil the millet in salted water until cooked.

Meanwhile, cut the mushrooms (I used champignons and oyster mushrooms)

Fry one onion in vegetable oil until golden, add mushrooms and fry until the water from the mushrooms evaporates.

Finely chop the cabbage leaves previously boiled in salted water. Depending on the size of the fork, you will need from a quarter to a half of it.

Combine millet, cabbage and mushrooms.
Digression: there doesn’t have to be a lot of juice from the cabbage, but you don’t need to squeeze it dry; the semolina will take away some of the water.

Add your favorite spices, freshly ground dark pepper, semolina, salt and mix well. You can add garlic and herbs to taste. Set it aside for now and start frying the cabbage rolls.

To fry, you need to fry one onion and grated carrots on a small grater until golden brown.

Add a glass of tomato juice or diluted tomato paste, salt, spices to taste and bay leaf. Simmer over low heat for 10 minutes.

Next, you can make lazy cabbage rolls and fry them in vegetable oil until golden brown on both sides, but if you want to do it quickly or lazyly. then you can distribute the entire cabbage-millet-mushroom mass in a frying pan or baking dish.

Pour the frying mixture on top and simmer over low heat under the lid until fully cooked for 15-20 minutes. Sprinkle the finished darling on top with green onions or any other herbs to taste.

Serve and enjoy!

Not during Lent it can be served with sour cream. Very tasty!

This version of lean lazy cabbage rolls is no longer prepared in portions in the form of cutlets, as in this recipe, but in the form of a large casserole. But in all this, the ingredients are not mixed together, but laid out in layers (a layer of minced meat, a layer of rice, a layer of cabbage) and baked with the addition of sauce. And lining the casserole on top and bottom with cabbage leaves makes this dish more similar in appearance to cabbage roll, only a bigger cabbage roll.

Compound:

for 5-6 servings
form – frying pan Ø 22 cm

  • 200 g chopped raw lentils or mung beans
  • 220 g boiled rice
  • 350 g cabbage
    (150 g for filling + 200 g for lining)
  • 170 g carrots
    (100 g for minced meat + 70 g for cabbage)
  • 1 tsp. fresh ginger root
  • spices:
    – 0.5 tsp.
    turmeric – 0.5-1 tsp.
garam masala consistency - 0.5 tsp.
    asafoetida (optional) – 0.5 tsp.
dried rosemary or thyme – 1/3 tsp.
consistency of peppers (to taste) – 1 tsp. dried dill (in stewed cabbage)
  • salt to taste

Tomato sauce:

  • 300 ml water
  • 1 tbsp. l. (20 g) tomato paste (to taste)
  • 0.5 tsp. salt

Recipe for lean lazy cabbage rolls:

  1. Prepare the ingredients.

Fry minced meat with carrots

Lentil mince interior

Separating cabbage into leaves

Place on the bottom of the mold

Shred the remaining cabbage

Stew with carrots

Place the minced meat in the mold

Spread the stewed cabbage

Preparing tomato sauce

Fill the lazy cabbage roll

Cover the pan and place in the oven

Bake in the oven

In the end, our big Lenten lazy cabbage roll is ready. We cut it into portions and serve it as an independent dish, complementing it with some of your favorite light salad if desired (this time I had a salad of baked eggplants with peppers).
