How to make potato waffles

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes – 400 g
  • Chicken egg – 2 pcs.
  • Milk – 150 ml
  • Butter – 25 g
  • Wheat flour – 100 g
  • Salt - to taste
  • Greens – 3 tbsp.

Manufacturing:

To make potato waffles, you can use leftover mashed potatoes or prepare it specially.

Peel the potatoes, cut into small pieces and boil in salted water until tender.

Drain the water from the potatoes and, using a potato masher, transform the contents of the pan into a dense and dry puree.

Pour the milk into a saucepan, heat it and add butter.

When the butter melts in the milk, the mixture must be poured into the mashed potatoes.

Again, mix everything well with a potato masher and let the mixture cool until warm.

Add two medium chicken eggs and thoroughly mix all the ingredients. Remember, to prevent the eggs from curling, the potato mixture should be slightly warm, not hot.

Finely chop the greens: this could be green onions, parsley, dill, cilantro, etc. I like potato waffles with green onions most of all - they have an extremely harmonious taste and smell.

Add the greens to the dough and mix well.

Sift flour with salt and add it to the rest of the ingredients.

The recipe indicates the amount of salt to taste. I advise you to salt the potatoes well during cooking, and at the stage of adding flour to the dough, add almost one pinch of salt.

Grease the waffle iron with vegetable oil. Place the dough on a shaped panel (1 waffle will take approximately 2 tablespoons of dough) and bake until golden brown. Potato waffles take a little longer to bake than regular sweet ones, so don’t rush to take them out of the pan - let them bake well.

The finished potato waffles will have a crispy crust, and to prevent it from immediately becoming soft, stack the waffles in one layer and not on top of each other. You can use a net for this.

After a few hours, potato waffles will become soft and resemble pancakes, but the taste will not suffer from this. The waffle batter can be created the night before and stored in the refrigerator, and the waffles can be prepared during the day.

If you want to return the crispiness of cooled potato waffles, then place them in the oven for 5-7 minutes at a temperature of 80-90 degrees.

POTATO WAFERS IN A WAFFLE FARM - STEP-BY-STEP RECIPE WITH PHOTO

COOKING TIME – 20 MINUTES

Potato waffles in a waffle iron. Everyone knows what waffles are, and almost everyone also remembers their taste from their youth. Remember, “Lemon” or “Artek”, dry thin and crispy waffles with a narrow layer of interior? So, the waffles that are widespread in America and Europe are not at all like the ones we are used to. They are soft, and their dough is rich or sponge-like.

By the way, the name “waffle” came from him. Waffel is one of the types of narrow dry cookies with an embossed relief on the top and bottom. The pronunciation “wafel” over time was transformed into waffle and in this form came into the Russian language.

Waffles are baked from whipped watery dough in special forms. The dough is usually made from flour, eggs, sugar (in sweet waffles) and cream. And I would like to offer you to prepare waffles according to an unusual recipe, where the main ingredient is potatoes. In fact, this is a unique variety of potato pancakes.

INGREDIENTS:
(per 6 waffles) :

  • Medium-sized potatoes - 3 pieces;
  • Chicken egg – 1 piece;
  • Baking flour (plain) – 2 tablespoons;
  • Mozzarella cheese – 100 gr;
  • Salt;
  • Ground pepper (black or a mixture of peppers);
  • Nutmeg;
  • Olive oil – 1 tablespoon.

COOKING:

Peel the potatoes and grate them on a large grater.

Add a chicken egg to the grated potatoes

And then salt, pepper and nutmeg

Also flour and cheese

Mix everything until smooth

For a previously heated waffle iron (I have an electronic one, but can also be used for making on the stove), grease it with olive oil

Spread the mixture (one and a half to two tablespoons per serving) and distribute it moderately in the form

Then bake for about 15-20 minutes, depending on the waffle iron and its heating

The resulting result will pleasantly surprise you and your family members. Children will especially like these waffles; they will ask you for them again and again.
