But what can you cook from them, especially using a slow cooker?
How to cook squash in a slow cooker?
The squash took all the main properties of pumpkin and zucchini for themselves in full - they have the same thickened skin, and the flesh is even drier. It is for this reason that almost all housewives will certainly have a recipe for stuffed squash in their cookbook - in a slow cooker or oven: they are opened in the same way as a pumpkin, cutting off the top, which will then serve as a “lid,” and scraping out the core. The purchased small pot is perfect for serving meat, cereals, pasta or vegetables. With all this, if you make stuffed squash with meat, keep in mind that the vegetable itself will cook faster, so the meat must be cooked before the inside is placed in the squash.
To ensure that the squash keeps its shape when baking (applies to stuffed versions), cut out the core carefully, trying to maintain a very thick bottom and walls.
Equally tasty are fried squashes in a slow cooker, which can be prepared in several ways: the most common way is to cut them into cubes, as is done with zucchini or pumpkin, and brown them with butter in the “Frying” mode until tender. And if you add carrots, sweet peppers, tomatoes and a little garlic, and also simmer with a glass of water on “Stew,” you will get a healthy vegetable stew. Manufacturing method:
- Coarsely grate the carrots and chop the onion with a knife.
- Wash the squash, remove the skin, cut into small cubes.
- Remove the skins from the tomatoes and cut them similarly.
- Pour oil into the slow cooker, add vegetables and onions. Select the “Baking” mode. Cook with the lid open for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally with a spatula.
- Add salt, ground pepper, chopped garlic.
- Pour in cool water to cover the vegetables.
- Change the program to “Stew” and cook under the lid for half an hour. If after this period of time the vegetables are still not very soft, let them simmer for an additional 15 minutes.
- Using an immersion blender, puree the contents of the multicooker bowl.

We will wash and peel the vegetables. Remove the center from the squash.

Step 2

- In cleanly washed squash, cut off the lid; there is no need to remove the tail. Carefully remove the core and seeds. In this way, a kind of braid comes out, which will be filled with fried minced meat.
- Cut the pepper into small pieces.
- Add a little salt to the prepared minced meat and stir in pepper. Place in a frying pan and fry over low heat.
- To make it soft, add ketchup or tomato sauce. Fry until golden brown.
