I liked the curd dough from my first recipe so much that I wanted to cook pies with various insides on it, while significantly saving my time. Now these are poppy seed pies that will not disappoint you.
I prefer not to add anything extraneous to poppy seeds, except for sugar: no proteins, no honey, etc. As a child, I saw my mother prepare poppy seed filling, and this is the only one I recognize. I love the natural taste of sweet poppy seeds.
Pies with poppy seeds made with curd dough turn out soft and remain so for a long time. Prepare all the necessary products in advance. Measure out the required amount of ingredients.
Fill the dry poppy seeds with water so that it covers it by 1 cm. Cover the pan with a lid and place on the fire, simmer over low heat until all the water has boiled away. Then leave the poppy seed to sit and swell for another 15 minutes.
Grind it with an immersion mixer until white. This usually takes about 7 minutes. With all this, the poppy becomes obedient, fluffy and holds the lump perfectly. Only after this add sugar, a pinch of salt and stir well. At first the poppy will be light, and then it will turn black again. Don't try to reduce the amount of sugar - add according to the recipe. Low-sweet poppy seeds – translated products.
Combine cottage cheese, preferably market variety, with vanillin and sugar, add a pinch of salt. Blend well with an immersion blender until smooth.
Add egg, vegetable oil and stir.
Add flour and baking powder and knead into a very soft dough. I didn’t add all the flour, I left 2 tablespoons for dusting on the table.
I show you what kind of dough comes out from the inside. It is loose, breathable and flaky. Cover the dough with film and place in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
Then divide the dough into similar 40 gram balls. Flatten any ball into a flat cake and place the filling in the center. Make small cuts on the sides of the inside and fold the edges of the dough on top of each other, towards the center, forming a cheesecake pie. It is not necessary to thread the dough through the slits, just wrap it overlapping.
You can create closed pies by sealing them like dumplings and turning them seam side down.
Place the pies on a parchment-lined baking sheet or simply grease the baking sheet with oil. Brush the pies with beaten egg and bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Be guided by your own oven.
Ready-made poppy seed pies can be sprinkled with sweet powder and served with tea or coffee. The poppy seed is very soft, does not crack on the teeth, does not crumble, and melts in the mouth. Have fun!

Poppy seed pies constantly remind me of home, of my mother. The warmest memoirs of youth, peace and celebration are constantly connected with them. When you wake up in the afternoon, you are already happy with the anticipation of a new day, with the sweet aroma of baked goods flowing from the kitchen. This means that it is a day off and mother is at home, which means there will be delicious pies.
In the villages they bake huge pies with poppy seeds; you can’t even call them pies, the size of a palm, four fingers high. My version is the most urban, because I like small ones; I simply can’t handle a large pie; I constantly have to cut it into several parts. You can feed a family with one pie)) Try it, it’s very tasty. In the recipe I used a 250 ml glass.
How to cook “Baked poppy seed pies” step by step with photos at home
To make pies with poppy seeds, take flour (I measured 3 full glasses), milk, fresh yeast, sour cream, sugar, vanillin, salt, vegetable oil, butter, dry poppy seeds, egg for lubrication. All products must be removed from the refrigerator in advance so that they warm up.
Process the poppy seeds as in the recipe “Poppy braid of 5 strands.” Add sugar to the soft poppy seeds, mix well and add until needed. The sugar should melt on the inside and the inside should become smooth.
Dissolve yeast in warm milk, add 1 tsp. sugar, stir everything and leave for some time so that the yeast reacts.
Pour melted butter, dissolved yeast, sugar, salt into the dough container, add sour cream, pour in warm milk. In general, combine all the watery ingredients and stir.
Add flour and vanilla evenly. I constantly add flour evenly, without adding it all at once, so that I can understand and feel the structure of the dough. From time to time you need to add a little more flour, or, conversely, a little less.
Knead soft dough. It practically does not stick because it contains quite a bit of oil, but you need to knead the dough for 10 minutes.
Cover the dough with a towel and place it in a warm space to rise.

Here is a recipe for oven-baked yeast dough pies that turn out amazing every time! The dough is airy, soft, and melts in your mouth, like cotton candy. They are prepared very simply and quickly, this is a good option when you have little time to cook. You can use various products for the inside of the pies, but together with “Super Chef” I would like to offer a very tasty option with poppy seeds. Ingredients:
- milk - 1 glass;
- compressed yeast - 15 g;
- sugar - 5 tablespoons;
- salt - 1 teaspoon;
- flour - 0.5 kilograms;
- eggs - 2 pieces.
For the inside:
- poppy seed - 100 gr;
- raisins - 50 g;
- walnuts - 50 - 100 g;
- sugar - 2 - 3 full tablespoons.

- Add yeast to warm milk and stir until it dissolves.
- Add 1 egg, salt, sugar, mix well.
- Add the sifted flour in small parts and mix until smooth, kneading into a soft, elastic dough.
- Transfer it to a clean bowl greased with vegetable oil, cover with a towel and place in a warm space to rise (about 30 minutes).
- How to cook poppy seeds deliciously? To do this, pour boiling water over it and leave for 15 - 20 minutes, after which I boil it a little again (2 - 3 minutes) and leave it to swell again. Afterwards I drain the water and pass the poppy seeds through a meat grinder 2 times.
- Pour raisins with cool water for 10 minutes, strain. I crush the nuts.
- Mix poppy seeds, nuts, raisins, add sugar and mix well
- Divide the risen dough into small parts, make small cakes, put the filling in the middle, pinch the edges and give it a pie shape.
- Place the pies on a baking sheet lined with parchment and leave to rise for 20 minutes.
- Beat the egg and brush the pies with a brush. Place in the oven for 20 - 25 minutes at 200 degrees.
Savory pies with poppy seed insides are ready! Raisins impart their juiciness, sweetness and tenderness to the insides, while nuts impart their smell and captivating taste.
