Butter is added after heat treatment (the porridge will become more crumbly). Season with dry solutions before cooking, and with fresh herbs after.

Buckwheat in the microwave

Manufacturing

We prepare buckwheat for cooking in the microwave literally the same way as if you were boiling it on the stove. We measure out the required amount of cereal and be sure to sort it out by hand. Buckwheat is a very tricky grain in this regard; it often contains small pebbles and various plant debris.

Next, we rinse the cereal in several waters and place it on a sieve to completely free the cereal from water. We use cool water for rinsing.

Now we take a container with a lid, suitable for use in the microwave (Microwave radiation, ultra-high frequency radiation - electromagnetic radiation, including the decimeter, centimeter and millimeter range of radio waves) . Pour the washed cereal into it. Fill the cereal with cool water, add salt and close the lid. There is no need to soak the cereal before cooking. We measure both water and cereal with the same glass. When cooking buckwheat in the microwave, you usually need less salt than usual.

Close the container with a lid and put it in the microwave. We turn on the stove to maximum, the time is set depending on the power of the stove. With a power of 700-800 W, set the timer for 7 minutes; with a power of 900-1000 W, 4 minutes will be enough.

After the set time, remove the container and mix the contents. During this period of time, the water should already boil, the cereal is actually ready, but still a certain amount of water has not yet evaporated. It is necessary to bring the porridge to readiness. Therefore, after mixing, close the container again with a lid and return it to the microwave.

At this step, you need to adjust the power of the microwave - it’s not enough to turn it down. Set the microwave to 600 W, set the timer for the same 7 minutes. If you have a very old microwave and there is no function for setting the appropriate power, leave it at maximum, but cook the porridge a few minutes less - i.e. Set the timer for 5 minutes. Old microwave ovens usually have a power of 650-750 W and the set time is just enough for the cereal to reach readiness.

Remove the finished buckwheat porridge from the microwave. Mix. If you see that the porridge is still liquid (unlikely, of course, but anything can happen), put it in the microwave for a few more minutes, this time without closing the lid. But in this case, with a microwave power (microwave radiation, ultra-high frequency radiation - electromagnetic radiation, including the decimeter, centimeter and millimeter range of radio waves) of 800 W, buckwheat porridge in the microwave was completely ready in 14 minutes. Now season it with a piece of butter and serve.

You can simply serve it with butter, with stewed meat, or prepare a separate dressing for it from vegetables and/or meat and mushrooms.

Buckwheat

What will be needed for production:

Microwave saucepan 2 liters.
(more is possible) with a lid 2 cups boiling water,
Salt,
1 cup buckwheat, measure dry (this is important)

Fundamentally: when preparing in the microwave, you need to add less salt or add salt to the finished product, because products require less salt than usual and can simply be over-salted.

Production:
1. Cover the pan with a lid and place in the microwave at maximum until it boils.

The time depends on this maximum.
For the first time it is better to look and understand the time when it will boil. I currently have 1000 W, it took 3 minutes to boil.
30 sec. In an old microwave with max. 750 it took 7-8 minutes before boiling.

The upcoming production does not depend on the maximum power of our microwaves; it is identical for everyone.

2. Remove the lid from the pan and stir. Set power to 600 W and cook WITHOUT COVER for 8 minutes. After 4 min. pause, stir, turn on further.

3. After 8 minutes, take out the pan, stir the buckwheat, there should be no more water, then the buckwheat is ready.

Buckwheat needs to be checked and tested: if we put in less water, it might.
a bit harsh, add little water; if we put more water it might. still liquid. In both options, leave for another 1-2 minutes. (600W). If necessary, you can add salt. If you measured dry buckwheat, exactly and with the same glass everything should be OK. The buckwheat is ready, in principle you can already eat it, it is the same as when made on the stove.

To compare with the stove, at my maximum it took 11.5 minutes in total. I don’t understand whether this is too much or not enough, because... I don’t like buckwheat cooked on the stove and before the microwave I made it in the oven.

4. This is not necessary, but after this I always steam the buckwheat. Why do I close the pan with a lid and set the power to 440-450 W. , put it in the microwave for another 8 minutes.

Steaming can be done longer, according to taste, but then, after 8 minutes.
further reduce W to 270-250. For my taste 8 min. 440 is enough. After this, buckwheat is already tastier, I already love this kind of buckwheat, it is actually comparable to the oven. It tastes better only in the oven, in cast iron.

If you create a double size, then, firstly, be sure to take a larger pan, 3 liters, or you will, like me the first time making a double size, jump around the microwave and catch “bear porridge”. Secondly, increase the cooking time after boiling and steaming to 10-12 minutes.

If you put butter at the beginning, you will get a “smear”; if you don’t put it, it will be crumbly, depending on what you want to get in the end.

For example, in my case, everyone puts on his plate as much as he needs and what he wants, some put olive oil, some butter, and some nothing.

You can literally make millet porridge in the same way, in the same proportions, with the same time, but it’s better to make millet porridge straight away with butter.

Step-by-step recipe with photos

Not all of us love to stand at the stove, wasting our free time on cooking food. I suggest you cook buckwheat in the microwave - the equipment itself will handle the creation of fragrant and crumbly porridge in 10-15 minutes, depending on the power. In general, it will take about 10 minutes for cooking and another 5 minutes for steaming the dish, provided that the washed cereal is poured with boiling water. If the liquid is the least hot, the equipment will take extra time to heat it up - take this into account!

You can get any variety of buckwheat: greenish raw or brown fried - the grain cooks for the same amount of time. If desired, you can make salty porridge (traditional) or sweet (for kids). Buckwheat with milk is also very tasty, but it is better to add this hot drink to plates with already boiled porridge, because lactic acid slows down the cooking process and prevents the kernels themselves from boiling in the grains.

So, prepare the necessary ingredients and let's start cooking!

Sort the buckwheat, removing the dark grains. Pour into a deep bowl and fill with cool water, wash a couple of times, drain.

Pour the cereal into a deep microwave-safe container and add salt to taste.

Pour in boiling water. At this step, be sure to ensure that there is little space left to the edges of the container - the liquid may boil. The previous container was filled to the brim, so I poured its contents into another bowl. Place the container with buckwheat in the microwave and activate the timer for 8 minutes, cover with a special lid. After the designated time, remove the container and carefully stir the contents, being careful not to get burned by the steam. Then finish cooking.

After the sound signal, remove the container. The cereal will completely absorb the liquid, but little water remains on the bottom, stir gently and cover the container with a lid, steam for about 5 minutes.

Place the prepared buckwheat porridge into plates and season with a piece of high-quality butter. Serve warm. You can complement the dish with sausages or meat products, or vegetable salad.
