Caesar salad with lightly salted salmon and shrimp

Seafood is healthy, you should use it more often in making appetizers and main courses. For example, this dish is understandable to everyone; the salad contains chicken, but you can replace it with fish or add shrimp to the composition. It will turn out unsurpassed!

  • salmon (lightly salted fillet) – 180 gr.;

  • lemon – 20 gr.;
  • honey.

1. Combined two lettuce leaves with Chinese cabbage. I washed them, let them dry and roughly cut them into strips. Placed it in a common bowl.

2. Sauce - took soy sauce (70 g), added honey (10 g). Squeezed the juice from a lemon slice. Mixed it up. I checked the taste and added more honey if necessary.

3. I cut the tomato coarsely into slices, removing the excess.

4. I boiled the quail eggs in advance, cleaned them once they cooled down and cut each one into four similar pieces. I cut the salmon into large strips. I made the pieces similar in thickness. I salted them separately. Shrimp too.

5. First I fried the salmon pieces and added the shrimp at the end. They need to fry for almost a minute.

6. Add the sauce to the vegetables in a bowl and mix with your hands. Having taken out the ready-made seafood, I kept them separately in the sauce and waited until they were saturated with aromas. Then I carefully placed the pieces of fish and peeled shrimp on top of the vegetables.

The salad came out beautiful, tasty and dietary. You can serve it immediately, without insisting. It is better to collect in a “dressed up” bowl so that the composition remains constant.

Video on how to prepare Caesar salad from salmon at home

A ceremonial, unique, light dietary dish. At home, the housewife cooks in a very curious way, with humor. Nice to hear, everything looks delicious!

Why is it called Caesar salad?

Such a sonorous name of the dish has its own history. As you guessed, his homeland is Italy. We can only believe that this was really the case. The popular recipe was invented by Italian chef Caesar Cardini. At that time, and this was 1896, he worked far from his native place, in Mexico, near the city of San Diego. In those years, America observed prohibition. On weekends, a huge number of people flocked to Mexico, specifically to this small town. There they loved to have a great drink and snack. The holiday was so popular that by the end of the weekend, chef Cesar Cardini had run out of supplies. He had to cook hastily from what was left in his bins. This is how the excellent and now so popular salad was born.

Ordinary traditional recipes for Caesar salad with salmon involve laying out the ingredients without stirring. While the dish is standing, it soaks in the sauce without the help of others. Guests can mix it themselves with a fork or eat it as is. Perfectly suitable for any holiday or home dinner.

Caesar salad with salmon

Caesar salad has a huge number of production options. Perhaps I will not be mistaken if I say that the most recognizable and most popular of them is Caesar salad with chicken. But don’t underestimate the other recipes for this dish; for example, Caesar salad with seafood is also very, very good. It can be created with shrimp, squid, and crabs, but I really like the Caesar salad with lightly salted reddish fish: both the taste and appearance of this salad will probably be appreciated by even the most demanding guests.

Typical restaurant salad recipe

The Caesar salad may contain no matter what kind of reddish fish - trout, salmon, pink salmon... This time I prepared it with lightly salted salmon. And, of course, I didn’t forget about Parmesan, quail eggs and croutons. The dressing for Caesar salad with salmon also deserves attention. If we are talking about a traditional recipe, then the dressing for such a salad must be prepared according to all the canons - with anchovies, mustard, olive oil and lemon juice.

Caesar with the right dressing

Naturally, options for replacing the dressing with balsamic vinegar, soy sauce and homemade mayonnaise also have a right to life, but I still advise you to prepare it as indicated in the recipe. Once you try it, you will understand the difference and will not want to change this dressing to some other one.

Salad ingredients

  • 3-4 handfuls of mixed lettuce leaves;
  • 100 grams of lightly salted salmon;
  • 2 slices of loaf;
  • 6 quail eggs;
  • 1 tbsp. l grated parmesan;
  • cherry tomato for decoration.

Sauce ingredients

  • 2 hard-boiled yolks;
  • 4 tbsp olive oil;
  • 1 tsp mild mustard;
  • 2-3 spicy-salted sprat fillets or anchovies;
  • 2 tsp lemon juice;
  • 1 clove of garlic;
  • 1 tbsp. l. grated parmesan;
  • dark pepper to taste;
  • salt to taste;
  • a pinch of sugar.

Development: step by step

Place lettuce leaves on a plate.

Prepare the ingredients for the sauce: peel the garlic, fillet the fish (sprat or anchovies), boil the eggs and separate the yolk from the white. Mustard for sauce can be used with or without grains - it depends on your taste preferences.

Place all the ingredients for the sauce into a blender bowl.

And mix well. Taste and add salt and pepper as needed. But, as my experience indicates, pepper is really needed, but there is enough salt - thanks to the fish fillet. Let the sauce sit for a little while. In the meantime, prepare the other ingredients.

Preparing savory crackers

Cut the crust off the loaf slices and cut the flesh into cubes. Fry the cubes until golden on both sides in a perfectly preheated dry frying pan. The result is delicious croutons - crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside.

Boil quail eggs hard and cut into halves. Cut lightly salted salmon into small pieces.

Assembling the salad

Spread the sauce on lettuce leaves and sprinkle with grated Parmesan. Place quail eggs, reddish fish and crackers on top in random order.

You can decorate the salad with cherry tomatoes and small lettuce leaves.

Caesar salad has long captured the main places in the menus of restaurants and cafes, gradually moving to the comfort of home kitchens. It came to us in several versions, which are equally considered traditional: with chicken, shrimp, fish. A salad with a majestic title would also be suited to royal fish. We offer a recipe with salmon, which has become a real rival to the version with poultry, but the main thing is that it is a wonderful gift for fish lovers. If you do not have a ready-made fish fillet, then first cut out the bone with a knife, then cut off the skin. We cut the salmon into thin strips or medium cubes. Any kind of fish can be used: salted, boiled, smoked. An excellent option is lightly salted salmon.

Thanks to the fish, the salad can be considered completely dietary, since the nutritional value of Caesar salad with salmon is only 150 calories.

Prepare croutons for salad yourself, do not replace them with store-bought croutons, they contain various additives and can spoil the taste of the salad.

Recipe for making traditional Caesar croutons

Cut the bread into slices, cut off the crust, chop into cubes. Peel the garlic and cut it into slices. Heat the oil in a frying pan and lightly fry the garlic, stirring it constantly with a wooden spatula. The garlic should give off its own scent. Then remove the fried garlic cloves. It is important that it does not burn and that the oil does not become bitter. Now add the bread cubes and fry them over low heat until golden brown. If garlic is contraindicated for you, prepare the crackers as in our recipe and in the photo: sprinkle with olive oil and simply dry on a baking sheet in the oven.

And one last piece of advice: if you soak the salad leaves in cool water before making the appetizer and leave it for one hour at room temperature, the greens will retain their natural, fresh crunch.

As for the usefulness of Caesar, nutritionists are unanimous - it belongs to lighter salads, whose components are rich in the elements most necessary for the body. The salmon alone is worth the irreplaceable Omega-3 acids. The source of calcium is cheese. Lettuce is rich in vitamins and essential fiber for the body, contains calcium, magnesium, sodium salts and folic acid, which removes bad cholesterol (an organic compound, a natural fatty, lipophilic alcohol found in the cell membranes of all living organisms except nuclear-free ones) .

In a word, Caesar is the best propaganda for a healthy lifestyle, which can also be very tasty. Bon appetit!
