Greek salad with feta cheese

Mon, October 20, 2014

Greek salad consists of ingredients such as fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, feta cheese, shallots and olives, and this dish is seasoned with olive oil, salt, ground black pepper and oregano herb. Despite the fact that the main component of a Greek salad is feta cheese, it is often replaced with soy tofu. In addition, bell peppers are often included in a Greek salad recipe, although capers or anchovies can be added less frequently.

It is curious that in English countries, Greek salad always includes leaf lettuce, and from time to time even beets, although in Greece itself such options are actually not found. It should be noted that the uniqueness of making a Greek salad is the coarsely chopped vegetables, and not the crushed ones at all.

Now let's prepare one of the versions of the Greek salad - with leafy green lettuce, also with feta cheese. It turns out to be a good option - fresh, juicy, catchy and tasty. The Greek salad dressing will consist of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper.

Ingredients:

Making a dish step by step:

To make a Greek salad with feta cheese, we will prepare the following set of goods: lettuce, fresh cucumber, cherry tomatoes, sweet peppers, feta cheese, pitted olives, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and freshly ground dark pepper.

Wash all the vegetables and salad and then dry them. We tear the lettuce with our hands directly into a huge bowl.

Then cut the cheese into large cubes (traditional Greek salad uses feta cheese). Add to lettuce leaves.

Then we add canned pitted olives, having previously freed them from water.

After this, cut the cherry tomatoes into 4 parts and place them in a bowl with the rest of the ingredients.

Now it’s the cucumber’s turn - cut it into large pieces and put it in the salad.

All that remains is to deal with the sweet pepper. We cut it, remove the seeds and tails. Also cut into large pieces and put the pulp in a bowl.

Mix the salad and serve. The sauce for Greek salad is simple and hassle-free: combine olive oil with balsamic vinegar and you’re done. Salt and pepper the Greek salad to taste just before eating.
