Savory cabbage solyanka: secrets and features of making

Cabbage solyanka is considered a complete hot dish for a hearty lunch or dinner. It is prepared from the freshest white cabbage or pickled cabbage. The tastes are different. Also, by changing the composition of additional products, you can get completely new dishes. Apart from the main ingredients, the dish includes: onions, carrots, tomato paste, salt and spices. Meat products or mushrooms (or both) are added as desired. As a standard, it is possible to do without them.

The 5 most commonly used ingredients in cabbage solyanka recipes:

Carrot 33 1.3 0.1 6.9
Bulb onions 41 1.4 10.4

The most common method for making solyanka from cabbage is this.

Onions are fried in oil with meat (if it is added) or with mushrooms. Add grated carrots, salt, spices, and tomato paste.

During this period of time, the cabbage is stewed in a deep saucepan for 5-10 minutes (it can be chopped using any easily accessible and usual method, either into strips or into squares). Mixed with frying. Not enough water is added to the bottom. Everything is simmered until done over low heat under the lid.

This dish has one important highlight: the lower the heat and the longer it is cooked, the tastier it turns out in the end.

If solyanka is prepared with sauerkraut, the cooking time increases. Plus, the vegetables will have to be simmered separately for a little longer, about 20 minutes, before mixing with the onion and meat.

By using a multicooker, the process can be reduced or simplified significantly. In fact, your faithful assistant will do most of the work for you.
