Ingredients

Manufacturing process

First, put a pan of water on the fire and bring the water to a boil. The pan for cooking compote from dried apples must be quite large in volume, because during the cooking process the apples will swell and increase in size. I cook 3 liters of compote in a five-liter saucepan. While the water is boiling, sort out the dried apples and rinse them with water.

Place dried apples in boiling water.

Bring the compote to a boil and cook over high heat for 3-4 minutes (during cooking over high heat, the apples will steam faster).

Then reduce the heat and cook the compote over medium heat for approximately 15-20 minutes.

After time, add sugar to taste (on average it takes from 120 to 180 grams of sugar - it all depends on the acidity of the apples).

Next, reduce the heat to low and cook the dried apple compote for another 7-8 minutes (let the apples absorb moisture).

When the apples swell, increase in size and finish being shriveled, increase the heat and let the compote boil. As soon as the compote boils, turn off the heat.

Cover the finished compote with a lid and let it brew (until it cools completely).

The dried apple compote will be one hundred percent ready when it cools and the apples sink to the bottom of the pan. The drink comes out very fragrant, rich and tasty. Boiled dried apples can be used to make a beautiful filling for pies and pies.

Making compote from dried apples is not at all difficult. This drink will be a source of vitamins and will amuse you with its colorful colors. My whole family enjoys drinking this necessary, tasty compote, be sure to try it!

Cooking compote from dried apples: traditional, for babies, with additives

Apples, even in dried form, contain a huge amount of substances necessary for the body. And this is not only vitamin C (a low molecular weight organic compound of relatively simple structure, necessary for all living things) C, which we so need in the winter, during vitamin deficiency and cold epidemics. Sweet dry slices are rich in organic acids, mineral salts, pectin, tannins, fructose, glucose, sucrose, phosphorus, iron, iodine, molybdenum, potassium, calcium, etc.

Dried compote is recommended for anemia, diseases of the thyroid gland, digestive organs, liver, blood (internal environment of the human and animal body) . Its presence in the diet will help you lose excess weight and improve metabolic processes. We can continue the conversation about the usefulness of this drink for children and adults for a long time, but you get the idea. Therefore, let’s move on to the description of the recipes.

Traditional recipe

  • Dried apples 300 g
  • Water 2 l
  • Sugar 100 g

Sort through the dry slices, putting aside any spoiled or moldy ones. The rest must be washed in running water.

Place the water on the fire and bring it to a boil. Add dried apples. After this, let the future compote boil again and reduce the heat. Cook the compote for about 30 minutes. A few minutes before cooking, add sugar to the pan and stir.

The finished product must be allowed to brew.

Compote with additives

Apples mix well with other fruits. For example, prunes, cinnamon or raisins will perfectly complement the taste. Usually dried pears are added to the broth, but the drink is no less healthy and tasty with rose hips, chokeberries, reddish and dark currants, dried apricots, and cranberries.

By adding dried fruits and berries, the compote is cooked according to the traditional recipe.

If you decide to add frozen or fresh ingredients to it, they must be placed in water approximately 10 minutes before turning off.

Polish

Dishes from cuisines around the world are often quite similar and differ only in small aspects. Apple compote did not bypass this rule either. In Poland, it is also very much adored and is even prepared for Christmas.

In addition to apples, Poles add other dried fruits and even spices.

The following ingredients will be required:

  • Dried apples 1 tbsp.
  • Water 4 l
  • Raisins 0.5 tbsp.
  • Prunes 0.5 tbsp.
  • Pears 0.5 tbsp.
  • Figs 0.5 tbsp.
  • Cinnamon 2 sticks
  • Cloves 6 buds
  • Zest of half a lemon
  • Sugar 1.5 tbsp.

At first glance, the recipe seems very complicated, but cooking it is essentially very simple. All ingredients, including spices, must be placed in a saucepan, filled with water and put on fire. After boiling, the gas can be reduced and simmered for another 40 minutes.

With lemon balm

  • Dried apples 340 g
  • Sugar 200 g
  • Lemon (citric acid)
  • Carnation
  • Melissa
  • Water 2 l

Boil water along with sugar, add drying agent and simmer for about 35 minutes over low heat. Add cloves and lemon balm and simmer for another 10 minutes. Acidify the cooled compote with lemon juice.

In a slow cooker

A simple method for making a medicinal and fragrant drink. The number of apples depends only on your preferences - if you want a light, refreshing drink, add a little dried fruit; for the richest taste there should be more of them.

Sort and wash the apples, place them in a multicooker bowl, adding 1-1.5 cups of sugar per 2 liters of water. You can also give a few linden or mint inflorescences (new or dried).

Set the “quenching” mode for 2 hours. It may seem to you that cooking for such a long time affects the nutritional value of the compote, but in fact, it will not boil, but simmer, all the while under a closed lid, which allows you to preserve a huge part of the vitamins.

After making the drink, you need to let it brew, it’s good to give a few slices of lemon at the end.

This recipe will be a godsend if you are short of time, because the compote can be served at any time, even at night (that is, in the dark) , without worrying that it will boil away.

For children

Young children can start giving dried fruit compote from the first year of life. At first it is diluted with water, but later it is not necessary to change the concentration.

It is better to create new drinks for children from one type of fruit; you can combine the ingredients after you get used to any of them separately and there are no allergies or digestive disorders.

There is no need to add sugar; instead, add a little fructose.

Carefully wash the apples, place them in boiling water and boil for 20 minutes.

You can prepare compote in a thermos. To do this, pour boiling water over several dried slices and leave overnight (that is, in the dark) . In the morning, pour the infusion into a saucepan, add another glass of water and simmer for about 10 minutes.

How to choose dried fruits

If dried incorrectly, all the beneficial characteristics of apples will be negated. Therefore, it is very important to recognize a high-quality product “by eye,” so to speak.

It’s better to take the slices not packaged in bags, but by weight, so you have a better chance of looking at them more carefully. Give preference to faded, wrinkled slices - the richer the color, the more likely it is that they have been tinted for a beautiful presentation.

Harvesting methods

It’s even better to dry the apples yourself - this way you will be confident in their quality and taste.

It is better to take medium and large fruits with a narrow skin and a small seed box. Sweet varieties, after drying, lose their expression, but autumn sweet and sour varieties, on the contrary, reveal their own bouquet, and they are also the most healthy. Pepin, Antonovka, and aport are perfect for harvesting.

Wash and dry whole fruits, remove the core; no need to trim the skin. Using a slicer or an ordinary knife, cut apples up to 5 mm wide. Soak them for 3-4 minutes in a saline solution (100 g of salt per 1 bucket of water). This will allow the dryer to maintain its beautiful light color and protect it from pests during storage.

Specifically, drying is carried out using several methods:

  • outdoors (only on sunny days, requires frequent turning over);
  • suspended (string the slices on threads and cover with gauze to prevent flies);
  • in the oven (spread the slices in one layer on a baking sheet, set the temperature to 75 degrees, later reduce to 50, open the door slightly, stir for any 1.5 hours);
  • in an electric dryer (the easiest method, just follow the advice written in the annotation).

Readiness is determined by darkened skin, lack of stickiness on the pulp and elasticity when pressed. The color depends on the variety, but make sure that the raw materials do not become very dark - overdried fruits lose most of their vitamins.

Dried apple compote

Dried apple compote is a tasty and necessary drink. A good opportunity to prepare a vitamin drink for children and adults at any time of the year.

Especially in winter and spring, recipes for healthy compote made from dried apples are vital. It is prepared quite simply. The main thing is that the dried apples are of good quality. Perfect if you dried these apples yourself for the winter.

  • 300 g dried apples
  • 2 -3 liters of water
  • 5-6 table. spoons of sugar or to taste
  • Cinnamon, mint, vanilla optional

Recipe for making dried apple compote:

Carefully sort through the dried apples and rinse under running water.

In a separate cup, pour water over the apples and leave for 20-30 minutes to swell.

Then wash the apples again under running water in a colander.

Pour cool water into a saucepan, put it on fire and put the apples in it.

Cook the compote for 20 minutes after boiling. Compote made from dried apples takes longer to cook than compote made from new ones.

Then add sugar to taste and cook for another 10-15 minutes. At the end of cooking, you can add spices - a cinnamon stick, a pinch of cardamom or vanilla, or you can leave it out.

Apple compote itself is very tasty and without spices.

If you prefer to add honey rather than sugar to the compote, then such a substitution will only be beneficial if you add honey to the apple compote, the temperature of which will not exceed 40 degrees. High temperatures destroy beneficial enzymes found in honey, because... they are all protein in nature.

When the dried apple compote is ready, remove the pan from the stove and let it sit for at least an hour. The longer the apple compote is infused, the tastier and richer it will be.

Then you can pour it into glasses and enjoy this tasty, natural and healthy drink, which is useful even for small children.
