Crackers: benefits and harm to the body
The cracker, whose history dates back to the 18th century, was invented by chance: it was enough just to change the recipe for the dough for biscuits and increase the baking time. So, the cook, who did not keep track of time, baked biscuits for a very long time, and was almost disappointed in his own baked goods, but soon this crispy snack began to gain popularity, bringing the baker a good profit.
Cracker - what is it anyway?
A cracker is a type of biscuit, a flour snack, the production of which uses wheat flour and butter. Galette, depending on the type, may contain milk, baking powder and other additives. The name comes from the British language: “crack” - “to burst, split.” According to the mixture, such cookies are tender, brittle, and on the outside they are porous and bubbly.
Types of crackers
The main ingredient, if you follow the traditional recipe, is wheat flour, which helps create airy cookies. Also in the composition of cream crackers you can find yeast, which is used to make the dough fluffy and soft, but baking powder is usually not added to it. Cream crackers can come in different flavors: sweet, salty, and with the addition of all kinds of spices. Most often they come in cheese and meat flavors - such biscuits can be used as a snack or as a substitute for bread. Sweet snacks are made not only with added sugar, but also with honey and syrup.
Difference between cookies and crackers
The key difference between crackers and cookies is a hard, dry structure, a layered mixture, while ordinary cookies have a compacted, loose structure. In addition, biscuits contain even the smallest amount of sugar, but there are also crackers without sugar at all. Cookies are a sweet product for which jam, honey and other sweet additives are used as the inside. Crackers are most often salty - with the taste of cheese, onion, bacon, which allows them to be served as a snack or with soups and hot dishes as a substitute for bread.
KBZHU and composition
The calorie content of snacks directly depends on the ingredients used in production, which, in turn, are connected to the type of biscuits and their recipe. Basically, their calorie content is 350 kcal per 100 g. 100 grams of product contains about 11 g of proteins, 13 g of fats and 67 g of carbohydrates. Depending on the type, the composition may vary, but the main ingredient is wheat flour. Minor ingredients are yeast, seasonings, salt and sugar. If the crackers are rich, then you can find milk, eggs, and butter in their composition.
Health benefits of crackers
Regardless of the filler and additives, crackers are a fairly healthy product. The usefulness lies in the ingredients included in the snacks, as they are sources of important vitamins and minerals needed by the human body. For example, premium flour contains fiber, which promotes excellent digestion and a healthy gastrointestinal tract. Flour is also rich in phosphorus, calcium, potassium, B vitamins, iodine, iron - all these microelements are very important for health.
Benefits for the female body
Often, when following a diet (Diet is a set of rules for human consumption of food) or the principles of proper nutrition, baked goods are replaced with biscuits and crackers. They contain a huge amount of vitamins and minerals - it’s not for nothing that ladies love these snacks so much. The richness of the necessary parts promotes healthy growth of nails, hair and has a positive effect on the skin. Crackers have a positive effect on the body and have the following beneficial characteristics:
- Brings the scalp to a healthy state (dandruff is minimized, fat balance and sweating are normalized);
- Strengthen nails and hair;
- Improves brain activity;
- Relieves skin from redness;
- Reduce the risk of illness (impairment of normal functioning, performance) by influenza.
Benefits for the male body
Quickly satisfying hunger, satiation for a long time, containing a huge amount of vitamins, fiber, potassium, calcium - these are the properties for which men adore crackers.
This snack is highly valued by users and is constantly in demand, because the ingredients included in the composition are able to normalize the glucose level in the body and regulate the functioning of the stomach and intestinal tract. They also improve the heart rate, having a calming effect on the nervous system.
Eating crackers during pregnancy
Another useful property of this product is the mitigation of the symptoms of toxicosis, from which all pregnant women suffer. By adding a few crackers to your diet for breakfast, you can see pain relief (experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage) , decreased sleepiness (It is necessary to distinguish between psychophysiological hypersomnia, observed in practically healthy individuals with insufficient night sleep or under stress, and various pathological variants hypersomnia) and irritability, preventing nausea. Often, ladies expecting a baby experience such a strong disgust for ordinary foods that they cannot even look at them, which is why they rapidly lose weight. Then the biscuits will become a lifesaver and help you survive this nasty step. It is also useful to have a package of cookies with you in your purse, because hunger can strike at any moment, but crackers quickly and forever saturate the body. Naturally, biscuits are not an independent and complete dish, but they are excellent as a snack.
Useful for kids
For a growing body, crackers are no less useful: they help activate the brain during study, for which they are valued by children and their parents. Sandwiches with biscuits are a good snack - this way the child will receive all the necessary vitamins (a group of low-molecular organic compounds of relatively simple structure and varied chemical nature) , relieve hunger and be able to concentrate on lessons. After physical education, such a snack will return strength and energy for subsequent activities. But you should watch the amount of crackers in your diet, as they have a huge calorie content and can contribute to the formation of excess weight.
Usefulness when following a diet (Diet is a set of rules for human consumption of food)
When losing weight, it is necessary to supervise the consumption of crackers. All flour products, including those made from premium flour, are rich in ordinary carbohydrates, therefore, on a low-carbohydrate diet, eating biscuits and crackers, as well as baked goods, is strictly prohibited. In everyday life, where there are no restrictions on food, you should eat crackers in moderation. If you eat a few biscuits an hour before bed, the nasty feeling of hunger will go away, but this will not affect your figure in any way, unlike massive snacks. When traveling and on the road, crackers can also help by saturating the body and relieving hunger.
