Marinated seafood cocktail, just like in the store
Store-bought marinated seafood cocktail is simply delicious! I always wanted to learn how to create a marinade that tasted the same at home. After searching through a bunch of websites with seafood marinating recipes and through trial and error, I finally managed to come up with a very approximate version. I bring to your attention a recipe with a photo of a marinated cocktail, just like in the store.
How to marinate a frozen seafood cocktail
Frozen seafood is sold at any grocery store. I bought a 500 gram package of sea cocktail consisting of mussels, squid and shrimp. If you like a different combination of seafood, you can independently choose the right composition for yourself by purchasing seafood in bulk.
First, let's boil the seafood. For this? Place the contents of the bag into boiling water for 3 minutes. There is no need to defrost anything in advance. We begin the countdown from the moment the goods are placed in boiling water. No need to salt the water!
After the designated time, drain the contents of the pan into a colander and let the sea creatures cool.
Now, next is the marinade. To make it, we need 1 teaspoon of salt, 1.5 tablespoons of sugar, 5 peppercorns, 1 bay leaf.
Pour the spices with 200 milliliters of water, add 50 ml of 9% vinegar and 40 ml of vegetable oil without aroma. Bring the marinade to a boil, and then cool it to room temperature.
Even though the recipe states “Just like in the store,” I can’t go past adding the freshest onion to the cocktail. This ingredient will add a flavor note to the main products, and will become an additional crunchy treat.
Cut a small onion, weighing approximately 50 grams, into half rings.
Mix onions and cooled seafood in a separate container.
Now you can put the base for pickling in a clean 500 ml jar.
Pour the cooled marinade over the seafood.
Screw the lid on the jar and put it in the refrigerator for a day.
After 24 hours, put the marinated sea cocktail on a plate and treat yourself to a wonderful dish.
Marinated seafood is an excellent stand-alone appetizer or salad topper. To be honest, this dish never lived up to salads in our family.

Seafood and seafood are popular delicacies in all corners of the world. Sea “gifts” are baked, fried, used as a salad base and consumed boiled. One of the most delicious and nutritious dishes is marinated seafood. This dish has an unusual taste and inimitable smell. Marinate seafood at home is not difficult.
Useful Features
Invertebrate inhabitants of the depths are called marine products. This is truly a storehouse of substances necessary for the human body. Seafood is considered a low-calorie product and is recommended to be included in the diet of people of all ages. 100 grams of product contains up to 120 kilocalories. Please note that seafood does not include fish and meat of mammals (walruses, seals and whales).
A marinated cocktail of seafood is a dish that has a balanced composition of necessary and easily digestible components. For example, shrimp have a positive effect on the body’s protective functions, reduce the risk of cancer and are a powerful antioxidant. Squids are rich in iodine, and mussels promote testosterone production (especially good for guys).
Those suffering from vision problems are advised to frequently eat crab meat.
Marinating at home
It is not difficult to prepare preserved seafood without the help of others. The main thing is to create it correctly. Recipes with seafood are very diverse and quite simple to make. The easiest and most affordable of them is seafood in a traditional marinade.
We will need:
- frozen seafood;
- one onion and three cloves of garlic;
- 2-3 pieces of sweet pepper;
- boiled water;
- two tablespoons of oil (olive);
- bay leaf and celery root;
- salt, pepper, spices to taste;
- one tablespoon of wine vinegar.
Place a pan (3 liters) of water on the stove, add salt and throw in the bay leaves and celery. When boiling, add the seafood mixture. Cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Strain through a colander and let the boiled seafood cool. In a separate bowl, mix water, oil and vinegar. Add spices and salt. Next, finely chop the onion, garlic and sweet pepper. We carefully mix the seafood with the vegetable mixture.
Place in a glass container and fill with ready-made marinade. Place in the refrigerator for 3-5 hours, shaking the container occasionally. After the designated period, the breathtakingly tasty dish will be ready. Can be served as an appetizer. There are no phlegmantic ones left!
Recipes
Marinated seafood makes a mind-blowing salad. Only “freshly rolled” jars with a cocktail of shrimp, octopus, squid and mussels are suitable for this dish. It is better to open the jar just before the manufacturing process. We take:
- marinated sea cocktail (150 grams);
- lettuce leaves;
- lemon juice;
- onion (reddish variety);
- boiled quail eggs (3-4 pieces);
- olive oil and white wine vinegar (40 ml);
- pepper (white), salt, sugar, spices to taste;
- greenery.
Cut the onion into thin rings and marinate it in vinegar with added sugar. We wash the lettuce leaves, tear them with our hands and place them on a plate. We peel the eggs and cut them in half. Place seafood on lettuce leaves and decorate the edges with egg halves. Place pickled onion rings on top. Drizzle the salad with olive oil, sprinkle with lemon juice, salt, pepper and garnish with herbs. Real jam!
Another unusual dish that will amuse your family and friends is a sea cocktail in oil. So let's get started:
- defrost store-bought seafood mixture;
- drain all the water and rinse thoroughly;
- Pour vegetable oil into a previously heated frying pan and fry the onion (cut into rings);
- Once it becomes soft, add the seafood mixture and fry over medium heat for 7-10 minutes;
- salt and pepper during the process.
This indescribably tender and delicious dish is served with boiled rice and vegetables. Bon appetit!
In addition, seafood cooked in oil is widely used as a base for salads and as ingredients for pizza.

Recipe: Marinated seafood – Prepare a seafood cocktail at home
If desired, you can add shrimp, octopus, scallops and other sea creatures.
First, boil the seafood. To do this, pour water into a saucepan, add some salt, and add a bay leaf for flavor.
As soon as the water boils, add squid and mussels to it.
There is no need to defrost the meat. Bring to a boil, cook for no more than 3 minutes. Regarding marine goods, the opposite rule applies - the longer you cook, the tougher it is.
Drain in a colander and cool. If necessary, remove the film from the squid carcass.
While the meat is cooling, prepare the marinade.
Pour salt and sugar into a saucepan.
Add vegetable oil. I use olive oil.
We dilute the whole thing with a glass of cool boiled water.
Add a spoonful of 9 percent table vinegar.
Add chopped vegetables to the marinade.
Cut the squid carcass into rings.
Place the sea meat in a glass or earthenware bowl and pour in the marinade.
We put the seafood in the refrigerator to marinate. You can eat it the next day, but it’s better to wait 2-3 days - the meat will acquire the appropriate taste and spiciness.
Can be eaten alone, as a meat salad (dressed with oil) or served as a side dish. A similar cocktail goes well with pasta.
It turns out simple, tasty and even cheaper than the store-bought version.
