Recipe: Cookies with sour milk - a la gingerbread

Recipe: Cookies with sour milk - a la gingerbread

These cookies are economical, as they do not require eggs, butter, and little sugar goes into the dough. It comes out a little crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, it even reminds me more of gingerbread. You can eat it just like that, sprinkled with sweet powder, or cover it with snow-white or chocolate glaze - to your taste.

Pour sour milk into a deep bowl.

Add sugar, baking powder and vanillin.

Add vegetable oil.

Beat everything with a fork until smooth.

Now add flour little by little and knead the dough.

Sprinkle the work surface with flour, lay out the dough and knead well.

Roll out the dough into a layer about 1 centimeter wide; if you make it thinner, the cookies will be very dry.

Using a glass or special cookie cutters, cut out cookies from the dough.

Grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil and place cookies on it. Place the baking sheet in an oven preheated to 200 degrees and bake the cookies for 20-30 minutes until golden brown.

This time I simply sprinkled the cookies with sweet powder.

Cookies are delicious to eat with hot drinks, compote, and milk.

Step-by-step recipe with photos

If your milk has gone sour, don’t rush to get upset! From sour milk you can make a lot of delicious baked goods, for example, wonderful soft cookies! There are quite a lot of cookies; I personally fit two baking sheets. Both kids and adults will enjoy eating cookies. Delicious with both milk and tea.

To make cookies with sour milk, we will prepare according to the list all the products that will be useful to us. Remove the butter from the refrigerator in advance so that it is soft.

Pour the semolina into a bowl, pour in the sour milk and stir. Leave for 1 hour until the semolina swells.

After a while, beat the eggs with sugar in a separate bowl.

Add the swollen semolina and soft butter to the bowl, stir a little and add soda. Then stir as thoroughly as possible.

Add a pinch of salt and flour to the dough. You shouldn’t pour in all the flour at once; watch the mixture. I dumped out 450 g right away, and added the rest later.

The result should be a very soft, non-sticky dough. Leave the dough in a bowl for 30 minutes, covering it with a towel.

After the time has passed, roll out the dough into a layer about 5 mm wide. Using a glass, cut out circles from the dough.

Place the preparations on a baking sheet lined with parchment. The dough will rise upward, so you can press it down with a fork so that a pattern emerges during baking.

Preheat the oven to 190 degrees and bake the cookies for 15 minutes, until light golden brown.

Once the cookies have cooled, they can be served immediately. If you wish, you can create cookies with sour milk with glaze or simply sprinkle with sweet powder.

Crafting recipe

All products must be removed from the refrigerator so that they are at room temperature.

Step 1. Start with 150 ml. Add ½ cup of sour milk and let it swell.

Step 2. Meanwhile, whisk 2 eggs with half a glass of sugar.

Step 3. When the semolina swells in milk, add 50 grams of softened butter and 1 teaspoon of soda and beaten eggs.

Step 4. Add 300-350 grams of flour evenly and knead the dough. The dough should not stick to your hands.

Step 5. Then roll out the dough to about 1 centimeter wide. You shouldn’t make it any thinner so that the cookies don’t become dry. Take cookie cutters and cut. If you don’t have molds, you can use a glass and create round cookies.

Step 6. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper, grease it with a little vegetable oil and lay out our cookies. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes at 180-200 degrees until golden brown.

Step 7. Sprinkle the finished hot cookies with sweet powder.

It always turns out very tasty! Try it now too!
