How to make pear jam using a slow cooker
Fragrant homemade pear jam can be simply prepared using a slow cooker.
The obvious advantage of this smart electrical appliance is that during the cooking process the jam does not need to be constantly stirred, which is required when making this sweet confection in an ordinary saucepan.
It will be necessary to stir it only at the last step - when the jam evaporates and thickens.
The finished pear jam is quite thick, moderately sweet and very tasty. It can be used in making homemade desserts, layered into cakes and pastries, added to children’s porridge, or simply eaten with a spoon, washed down with hot tea.
Pear jam recipe
Pears (I have the Conference variety) – 1 kilogram
Sweet sand – 250 grams
Citric acid - 0.25 teaspoon
Vanillin - on the tip of a knife
Let's prepare the necessary products and start making pear jam in a slow cooker. For this purpose, you can take any variety of pears. I chose Conference because they themselves are quite sweet, so I used minimal sugar.
We wash and clean the fruits from the skin and seed pods. Cut into small pieces. By the way, whether to peel or not is a personal matter (I constantly remove the skin from store-bought fruits).
Place the pear slices into the multicooker bowl and cover them with sugar. Add a little vanillin (don’t overdo it, otherwise it will taste bitter) and citric acid (it acts as a natural preservative and prevents the jam from darkening).
Turn on the multicooker to Heating mode and place the saucepan in the device for 15 minutes. During this period of time, the sweet sand will actually dissolve.
Now switch the multicooker to the Stew program. Time – one hour. We close the lid and forget about the pears for this time - the assistant will handle it herself. When ready, the pear slices are transparent and soft.
Grind them into puree using an immersion blender.
Simmer for another half hour in a similar mode. We see quite intense gurgling, but it is not enough to evaporate the water. Switch the device to steam cooking mode. Cook with the lid open for about 10 minutes, while stirring the puree every minute so that it does not burn, because the temperature is quite high.
Be careful: the jam “spits” quite a lot.
Pear jam in a slow cooker is ready when the fruit mass thickens: it does not pour from a spoon, but falls off. If you wish, you can roll it up, but I’m used to cooking it in small portions so that the product is always fresh.
After cooling, the pear puree becomes even thicker. We used a minimum of sugar, so it is not cloyingly sweet.
The yield from 1 kilogram of new fruit is 600 grams of jam.
Prepare natural sweet desserts for your family, for example, pear pies, and they will thank you with excellent health!

Step-by-step recipe with photos
A summer day feeds winter! This is literally true! Excellent in those countries where the freshest fruits and vegetables are abundant all year round, and in our winter cold, a jar of summer jam or marmalade is like a sip of fragrant and warm summer sun. So that we have something to enjoy in the winter, we will prepare goodies on sunny days in the summer.
With the advent of the multicooker, making jam or marmalade has become so easy that even the most inexperienced housewife can cope with this task! After all, there is no need, as before (our mothers and grandmothers remember this!), to stand at a hot stove, constantly stirring, to boil the jam to a suitable mixture. All you have to do is set a suitable routine and go for a walk with your beloved child; when you return, everything is ready!!
1. To make pear jam with citrus fruits in a slow cooker, take ripe, sweet and very juicy pears. They should be washed and the core and possible darkening removed.
2. Cut the pear into pieces that are comfortable for your electric meat grinder or food processor.
3. Cut the lemon with zest into several parts. You can, if desired, remove the seeds, but if you do not do this, the taste of the finished jam will not be completely spoiled, but will only be complemented by a very light and pleasant bitterness.
4. For color and smell, add a ripe orange to our jam. We also rinse it under running thermal water and cut it into the required slices.
5. Grind pears, lemon and orange in an electric meat grinder using the smallest attachment. Place the resulting mass into the multicooker bowl.
6. Add sugar to the fruit mixture and mix thoroughly.
7. Set the “Stew” mode in the multicooker for 2-2.5 hours. Depending on how long the juicy pear was, it will take you more or less time. But from experience I will say that the best mixture is achieved when stewing for 2 or more hours.
8. Pear jam with citrus fruits, prepared in a slow cooker, is ready. Transfer the jam into previously prepared sterilized glass jars and close with metal lids.
9. The rest of the jam can be tasted with fragrant tea and the freshest cracker.
10. Have a delicious day! And enjoy your tea!
Apple and pear jam in a slow cooker
This year we have a big apple harvest, just an apple boom! I have already closed many cans of apple juice, puree and jam in all forms - the usual with orange and cinnamon. I also wanted to make an unusual, fragrant apple and pear jam in a slow cooker. In this recipe, lemon is added to the jam. And from experience I understand that from time to time it can give off a bitter taste even despite the fact that you pour boiling water over it. Maybe it depends on the lemons. Thick-skinned fruits have the most bitter zest. Some people will like this bitterness, but others will not. If you are afraid of spoiling the jam, then simply remove the seeds from the lemon and squeeze out the juice, which you will later add to the jam. I made it with a whole lemon, we like the flavor of the jam.
Ingredients:
- pears – 500 g
- apples – 500 g
- sugar – 700 g
- lemon – 1 piece (about 150 g)
How to make jam from apples and pears:
Wash the lemon with a brush and pour boiling water over it a couple of times. Then cut into circles, removing the seeds. Cut any circle into 4 parts.
Wash apples and pears. Cut into slices, removing the seed boxes.
Place apples, pears and lemon into the multicooker bowl, sprinkling with sugar as you go. Leave in this form for about 20 minutes so that the apples and pears in the slow cooker release juice. It is not recommended to stir in the bowl so that grains of sugar do not scratch the surface of the bowl. If you use lemon juice, it is better to add it at the very end of cooking.
After 20 minutes, insert the bowl into the multicooker, set the “baking” mode for 5 minutes. During this period of time, the sugar will dissolve one hundred percent. Stir the fruit well, distributing the sugar.
After this, you need to switch the multicooker to the “quenching” mode for 1.5 hours. This is how golden it comes out:
Then we will act based on your wishes. If you like apple and pear jam in slices, then seal it in jars as is. If you want to turn it into jam, use a blender and then bring the jam to a boil again in the “stewing” or “cooking” mode.
Pour the finished hot apple and pear jam into sterilized jars and screw on the lids.
